My black SG 300 was stolen from Canterbury college of Art in 1985, it was my pride and joy. If anyone sees one for sale let me know – it has a very distinctive crack in the finish near the headstock.
I bought my natural wood colored Sg300 in 1971 for $210. It was a year old then. I kept thinking I’d trade up to a "brand" guitar, but this thing kept getting sweeter by the year. In 1982, I had the tech at Don Wehr’s Music City in San Fran swap out the tuners for Schallers and tweak the neck. Had to re-glue the loose pickguard in 1996. Other than the occasional cleaning and fresh strings, it hasn’t needed a bit of work.
A few years ago, friends of mine in Memphis who deal in vintage guitars told me they could easily get $750-$1,250 for it. They said Japanese buyers are trying to buy up everyone they can find.

I have a burgundy SG300 from about 1982 (new). Solid mahogany all through and one hell of a guitar . I have had Fenders (several USA Strat , USA Tele , Jap Jazzmaster 0 and none of these guitars comes close to the SG for playability or feel.Reluctant to ever part as it would be pretty worthless now . Paid £200 in 1982 for mine . Sale item , supposed to be £280 . Beautiful binding and one hell of a sound . I think they stopped making these about 1985 or so .
YAMAHA SG300 – i was given a black yamaha SG300 2 years ago the bridge and top nut were missing . These are the basic sg model but on inspecting the pickups i found they were coil tap sbg500 so i purchased a push pull volume switch and wired in the coil taps bought new tuneomatic bridge and white top nut, new strings put it together set up the action now shes a lovely player ,super neck .the old creem collered pickups now do humbucker or single coil sound though on humbucker with a saturated distortion the sound is mufled and unclear,i may replace the humbuckers with some pearly gates or other seymour duncans, any sugestions for a clear metal sound anybody
Same shit. Bought mine almost 10 Years ago for 250€.
Will never give it away. Even if it’s wight of a ton, it’s
worth it!!!
Pete
I have one exactly like yours – a black SG300. Bought it about 10 years ago for AUS$315. The best purchase ever! A great guitar, stays in tune nicely, and sounds fantastic. Kicks @rse and looks great. Glad I chose it over the Gibson SG I was considering.

Hi can someone help me please, I am contemplating buying a Yamaha FG410s or FG401s from a local shop. I am trying to find some info on this guitar, can anyone help. I played it for a couple of minutes and it was lovely but the shop is asking quite a lot for second hand £250
It does look quite new. Please hurry as I am sure he will sell it, thanks Rich.
I need to know the value of a mid 70’s Yamaha FG-110 guitar. Thanks.

$450 at most if it is in perfect condition. Who would want to sell an FG-435 anyway. That guitar sounds better than an $8,000 dollar Martin & Co. guitar at played once
: I’m trying to set a sale price on this Yamaha FG 435 Acoustic Guitar. Looking for info on age and price when new and approximate current value
Can’t really understand why you would want to sell it. In my opinion, the FG435 is the best sounding acoustic guitar Yamaha ever made. As for the price, I’ve turned down $400 for mine. Mine was produced in the early to mid 80’s. Everyone who has heard it has said it was the best sounding Yamaha they had ever heard.

Couldnt sell mine .. best acoustic i have owned in my 20 years of playing .. Dented Fender ..
I found a Yamaha FG-435 in a music store of my grandmother’s. I got that guitar dirt cheap for 135 dollars. I agree that the FG-435 is the best sounding acoustic guitar. Mine is a little beat up, though not very visible.
If anyone is interested I’m selling mine for what I paid for it. $250 I bought it and was going to learn how to play it but don’t have time. It’s in good condition. My email is [email protected] or message me through Facebook Jeffery Scott Day. It is also a Yamaha FG-435 with new Martin strings, bone nut and saddle. Adjusted string height as well.

Does anyone know what difference if any between the Yamaha FG435, Fg435A and the FG435aT acoustic guitar. I have a Yamaha FG435aT that needs a replacement fret board and I need to know what is the scale length, fret board radius and the width at the nut. I have tried looking online but not finding any useful information. All I have found it that the back and sides are Nato and the top is Spruce which I already knew. I am overseas and don’t have access to the guitar to take measurements.
Thanks

I own a superb YAMAHA Ae 2000 It is a big jazz box richly ornemente, and realy comparable to any other brand and I mean the most reconised one.Think of a L5 gibson for the look. It has a solid top, gold hw,2 hb p.u.+ splitcoils, ebony etc…Need info on finish material to correct small dings on the top and a few belt buccles markson the back. not for sale, Any info on this specific model year, etc very appreciated. I read and write french
I too own a superb YAMAHA AE 2000 And she is for sale !!!
She is missing one tuning knob and if you know where I can find one let me know. This is the best guitar I have ever owned (and I have had 3 vintage Gibsons) but I just don’t play guitar any more, having been bitten by the clarinet bug. I also read and write french and live in France. Oh and there is a scratch on the top, and the pickguard is missing, not that that’s a worry.
: I too own a superb YAMAHA AE 2000 And she is for sale !!!
Not any more, and thanks to this web page ! I delivered it personally to the lucky buyer in Austria, who gave us 3 days of superb Austrian hospitality.
Finally, a reference to the AE2000! Rik Emmett in a 1992 Canadian Musician interview said he played one (I have it as a desktop photo along with a Pacifica 1412.) He is playing both guitars on a video "Out of the Blue". I haven’t been able to find info other than that either but at least I know one exists!
I am interested in the yamaha wd-20 acoustic gutiar.I would like to know if it is a all wood insterment and what it retails for.

I had one of those back in 1969….it was top of the line (besides a martin) back then, a beautiful sounding guitar, silk & steel guitar strings sound the best on it. unfortunately I had to sell it in 1989 and have regretted it ever since. If someone has one they want to sell please let me know. thanks! Launa
:I have a Yamaha FG300 model that I bought, but I dont remember the year that I bought it.(late 60’s or early 70’s) It looked like a new one, but dont know if it was or not. A label inside has the words "NIPPON GAKKI" It looks like a Gibson Hummingbird model on the pick guard

I have an FG300 which I bought about 1974 for about £ 150.
I bought it beacuse it was the best machine I could find and at the time I was not concerned about the price.
It has a terrific action and is best fitted with high guage strings for the best sound. If you have one of these then either keep it let someone with high base requirements buy it. It is a beeaauutifull machine !!!

I have one! It’s a great guitar! See my user review on Harmony-Central.com. I absolutely love mine! If you go to the Yamahaguitars.com website, there’s a part of the site that gives you the formula on how to figure out the manufacturing date, etc… Or e-mail me and I’ll send you the data! My SG is wine colored, in near mint condition…found it in a German guitar store…had been hanging there since either ’82 or ’92. Don’t know exactly since the serial numbers are repeated every 10 years… Mine isn’t for sale either…although I DID see an ivory one go for over $2000 on e-bay. Not nearly as nice as mine though… Mine still has the paper on the back body cavity covers! The gold plating on the bridge is minimally rubbed.
