Hey. I have got a DeArmond Les Paul in silver, with the numbers S/N KC01067475. Does anyone have some info about this model?
Best regards
Ole from Denmark
a buddy got this guitar at a pawn shop and i know nothing about it. Its a black front, dark stained back, with a what looks like a solid through and through neck and body (probably mahogany) but could be a set neck. has american dearmond pick ups (looks like humbuckers) and the large d shaped tailpeace. the body style looks like a les paul but it is a bit thiner and lighter also has frett marker inlays (mother of pearl?) and a floating pickguard. serial # s/n8100573 made in korea by guild is says on the back of the headstock
I HAVE THE NUMBER s/n8072150 ON THE BACK OF THE HEAD OF MY DEARMOND STARFIRE GUITAR. CAN YOU TELL ME SOMETHING ABOUT IT
THANK YOU
DAVID
I recently bought a DeArmond Starfire and also was curious about the history and date of the instrument. I searched several times and ran across a site that, I believe, answered the question.
Your number; s/n8072150, according to the information I have, was produced in 1998 in the month of July and obviously was 2150th in the series of that production (I think). The first number 8 is the year, the next two digits indicate the month of manufacture and the last 4 are the sequence numbers. Mine is 8103255, so according to that site it is a 1998 manufactured in October of that year.
1998
july 1998, # 2,150
I’m thinking of selling this guitar. Serial Number is KC01070648. Just wondering if i could get some information on the model number and selling price. Thanks.

I came across this trying to find information about the DeArmond plant. It’s an old post, and you may have already found this out by now–If you didn’t find it, yet…I do know this much; the first number after the "KC" tells the year. So, yours was made in 2000. An "8" would be 1998, and a "9" would be 1999. Starting with 2000, they added another digit. So, KC00=2000, KC01=2001…etc.
Without a photo, I can’t be certain, but it’s probably a Starfire Special: semi-hollow, "Digsby" vibrato (like a Bigsby, but with a "D"), and single florentine [sharp] cutaway. You can look through the later DeArmond guitars here:
http://www.dearmondguitars.com/starfirespecial.html
Let me know if you want to sell it…;-)
hope that helped

I have the much rarer of the two, X-80. Serial number HD100109. Made in 1984. Crimson red tiger maple, black hardware, Kahler locking tremelo, dual humbuckers, "pointy headstock"…all original. Immaculate condition. Used very little. Original hardshell case. E-mail me if interested. I would e-mail you some pics. Thinking of ebay.

I’ve been looking for an early x-80 with the standard Guild headstock for quite some time. I’ve run across one now n then but never seemed to have the money at the time. Anyone have one for sale, perchance? I’d take the pointy headstock though I’d rather it wasn’t the hockey stick style one, not that I’d say no to that if that’s all I could find. I’m seeing a few x-79s on eBay but would much rather have the x-80 if possible.

This popular thread has been given its own page : Guild DV-72 NT / Guild JF-100-12
Googled the DV-72 and found this discussion site. I also am a proud owner of a Guild DV-72 NT HG ‘Pueblo’ Ltd. Edition dreadnaught. It is Ser.# LK000007. Initially bought Ser.# LK000003 new from a dealer some years back (who’d purchased 4 of them from the factory run), but it arrived with a 1-inch long vert. finish check at the top of the pickguard (back in the day when manufacturers wood glued the pickguards to the top wood). #003 was exquisite, with near-white clear spruce top, perfectly straight neck/fingerboard and incredible sustain (partly due to very thin top finish). The herringbone top binding design lacked the inner black trim bands on this one. The finish check was analyzed as an older blemish, and not occuring during shipment to me. Because it was intended as a gift, I complained to the dealer, who offered to swap it for another one, from two other DV-72s, which he’d recently got back factory-refinished by Guild for similar finish checking issues. I took #007, which had the darker spruce top and the full-banded herringbone top binding. The refinishing work on the other refinished example (don’t recall the serial number) was awful, with a very heavy & inconsistent laquer topcoat and very poor sustain. The refinish work on #007’s top coat was well done, albeit also a bit on the thick side, affecting the guitar’s sustain. #007 ended up back in my posession, and I treasure it. I still regret not keeping #003 for myself (complete w/finish check), because it was the best sounding acoustic 6-string I have ever heard from many fine guitars I’ve owned and played over forty years at it. I also own a special order Waverly-built Guild Model JF-100-12 jumbo 12-string (Ser.# 7019039), which has the carved neck, so technically it should be a Model JF-100C-12 (‘C’ for ‘carved neck’). Had it custom made with a beautiful cherry sunburst to go with my Gibson Custom Shop 1994-spec J-200 RW Deluxe 6-string, that has a triple Cherry Sunburst finish. After having owned a fine Guild F512 in 1975, I always wanted to replace it with a JF-100-12 someday, and was lucky to get the opportunity to order one before the original Guild factory closed-down. *** I’ve always wondered how many JF-100-12/JF-100C-12 twelve strings were made by Guild.??? To date, Fender/Guild custom shop has no plans to build this model again. It is the best looking – best playing – best sounding acoustic jumbo 12-string for my tastes. I would never consider selling either of my Guild acoustics, neither of which, BTW, is amplified. Hope some of this info is of interest to the other posters. I’ve only seen two DV-72 NT HG guitars, and one DV-76 NT HG (the red coral inlay version) sell on eBay, and a few D-100C models. Never a JF-100-12, though. In fact, it’s impressive to note just how few Guild acoustics do show up on the resale market compared to other makes, which is a testament to their fine quality craftsmanship, sound and desirability by owners. Thank God that Fender had the good sense to recognize Guild’s tradition and legacy!

I have a guild x-79 which has an unusual floating tremelo that can bend up and down. The guitar has a tag on the headstock that reads, X-79 LTD. I have never seen an x-79 with that bridge and ltd tag. I have been unable to find any information on this guitar, however, I checked the serial number out on the internet years ago.
If anyone knows anything at all about this guitar I would appreciate it if you could post a reply; for example: is it rare and did it come from the factory like this?
i want to buy a burnside lance bass, ill take pretty much any color, but white is preferred. drop me an email if you have one

I found a Guild x-79 this past weekend at a garage sale. Quite a bit of wear on the back of the neck and around the body – played a bunch. Electronics are in remarkably good condition and the guitar is ALL original – tuners, pickups, etc. Sounds terrific. Frets worn, but plenty of life left in them and the neck is STRAIGHT. Great intonation. The more common red color. I would be happy to send photos if anyone is interested. I’ve got way too many guitars!

I own a pristene Guild Blade Runner X100 Serial # HJ100012, which was the #8th produced. It was originally purchased in NYC first owner told me(not sure of the story), I purchased it in 87-88 ish. It is Cream colored with red and black accents. It has no scratches, dings or marks. It has only been played ten times since its original purchase. Does anyone out there have any information on this guitar. I have heard a rumor that it was originally owned and played by the guitarist from Twisted Sister.

James,
You may not believe this but my brother Andrew Desrosiers and his Friend David Newell are the creators of the Bladerunner and actually have had the patent that they have on the guitar returned to them. My brother actually can make you an original if you want one. He was involved with the technicians at guild and has serial number 00002 with the signatures of all the techs under its clear coat. Email me if you want to get in touch with him. He also has a few that he knows of that may be for sale.

Hi, I saw your comment, so I thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask- I’m looking for a case for a Bladerunner. Do you have any clue where I might find one or if perhaps the guitar might fit into the case of another model?
Out of curiosity, you mentioned that your brother could build one. What would the cost be?
Thanks and take care,

I own one of these great creations. It comes out of the case only once every two years to inspect it. I have had it appraised at $5000.00 and insured for that amount. it is serial #8 of 92 made. Its colors are a white/ebony body, red and black. The guitar has been in my possession since 1988 and never played except to tune. This guitar is flawless! I would like to purchase any of the others that may be out there and have not found one yet.

Hi everyone, Ed here from American Guitar Works. I can answer just about any questions regarding the Blade Runner I & II you may have. I was a long time friend of Andrew and worked with him all the way back to the original Crusader Drawings. I have been to Guild, played serial #0002 on stage several times, in 2005 started to produce the Blade runners again. Oddly enough the first guitar I built for sale in 2005 was again for Joe Perry and it was a Blade Runner. I didn’t finish it in time so it was sold to a friend in SoCal.
I will try to get a timeline story together of what I know. Meanwhile, I am producing guitars again and the low serial number guitars are going up for sale. Blade Runner included.
Thanks and look forward to talking, Ed

Hi, I saw your comment on the Guild Bladerunner. I’m looking for a case and was wondering if you may know of a source or if it might possibly fit into another model’s case. I’m sure that finding an original is a longshot.
Thanks and take care,
Chris

Glen,
I dont know any history on this guitar, I was curious if you still owned it and if it might be for sale.
James
I had one, sold it to my son years ago, he may still have it.
I have a pearl white Bladerunner purchased new in 1985. It came with the original hard shell “safe case” complete with the grey lining wrapped empty VHS cassette box for storage inside. It has a few minor dings on it and the original Kahler locking nut has been replaced with a matching, heavier duty Floyd Rose unit. The tremolo is the original Kahler unit with the exception of the black Fender bar that was re-threaded to fit after the original bar cracked at the joint. As there were apparently, less than 100 of these built, I’d like to know its value (or at least a way to find a serial number or any kind of indicator of which number in the series I have.
I have a mint condition guild bladerunner for sale. Serial number 0007. Original case. Email me if interested. [email protected]

I have an all blue bladerunner, with black inside the cutouts. Decent shape. I heard one went on e-bay for close to $9,000! I don’t know how true that is, but I’ve only ever seen one other one in person, a few pics online, and I’ve NEVER seen another blue one. I’m dying to know what it’s worth, and I’m about to put it up on e-bay.
Do you still own this guitar? I may be interested if you still have it.
My father designed this guitar in 1982.Its a fairly rare and expensive guitar.I live in upstate NY.Email me

: How much is a guild D-100 worth in very good condition? meaning a couple very minor scratches. Thanks
I have one and it’s an amazing Guitar, top of the line Guild out of the custom shop and very few were made. According to my 2009 Vintage Guitar price guide it’s worth between $2,200 and $2,300 depending on condition and then if it has active electronics you can add another $200 to it.
Dear Sir:
Do you know where there is a D-100 for sale or do you have one that you are selling?
Thanks.

I have one up for auction here:

Used Guild D-100’s run around the 2k mark…
I think that is absolutely negotiable. I might be interested in buying, if you want to sell.
Well thats the thing it was given to me as a gift and i’ve never seen one for sale, so i wouldn’t know how much they go for. I’ve seen a pretty fancy one go for around 2000. Mine is pretty basic. and i’ve never seen one for sale thats like mine.
Sorry it’s taken so long for me to get back to you Rob. Write me at [email protected] and we’ll talk.

Hi, What is the estimated value of a 1987 Guild Aviator in excellent condition. Has EMG pickups and Ebony finger board.
Ah …Value
To me…#1 DEPENDS on color
#2 condition….it is 20 years old at this point.
incidentally, his was my second electric guitar.
…a GREAT one in retrospect….my first was an Aria pro.
The one I had was PINK
…I was a steve vai fan at the time
so it sort of made sense when I was 13
and had hair down to my ass and snake skin cowboy boots
….god damn I was a confused kid….
Mine had 3 single coil emg’s and a kahler.
I swapped the pickguard and put a humbucker in it…of course…
it was ALWAYS functional no matter how rough I was on it.
But…not a floyd rose which is why I put it in the closet
and bought an Ibanez RG570 in 1991.
The color Pink meant I bought it for $500 in 1988.
I think it had been on the shelf since 85-87
I had my brother repaint Gibson’s Twilight Blue
(from the gibson’s victory model…looked BITCHIN’)
It lasted a couple of years in my pile…..but I did drop it in 1993 for an amp….I got $350 trade value at the time…so the store likely put it up for 600-700
I’d GLADLY pay 400-500 for that same ax today…I had NO IDEA how good it was when I was letting it go…and I’ve regretted it for a long while.
I have a Fender Relic and an LP custom at this point…so i can’t complain too much…but still I sort of miss the pink odd bird Guild made.
: Hi, What is the estimated value of a 1987 Guild Aviator in excellent condition. Has EMG pickups and Ebony finger board.
I have two Aviators. One from 1984 and one from 1985. Because there were so few made, there isn’t much of a track record on the open market for these guitars. They are however one of the best made gutars I’ve ever played. I’m sorry to say that I picked up both of mine on e-bay for about $300 each. As you know the components are worth more than that. The problem is…most people don’t know what Guils Aviators are. Yet alone a Guild S-284. These retailed originally for upwards of $1800. Yet you could buy them discounted for $1300 or $1500 brand new. Considering inflation, in todays dollars that’s like $2500 to $3000. The guitar is worth keeping! I wouldn’t sell mine for anything.
I paid $450.00 for the one I have. It is worth more than that to me, but it is a used guitar and therefore is worth what ever you might get for it… Sorry there isn’t enough info out there to narrow this down much more for you. If you were to try and find the components to build such a beast, you would be into it for a LOT of money by the time you made it. A decent ebony board would set you back a couple hundred not to mention the labor to fret it and make or install postition markers. Pickups would be $300.00 0r so, and the hardware would be about the same. It is a fine US made electric with a lot of bang for the buck. (in this person’s humble opinion…) S.
: Hi, What is the estimated value of a 1987 Guild Aviator in excellent condition. Has EMG pickups and Ebony finger board.
my estimated value iz close to priceless. had my 87 since 87, and still sounds and plays like 87.EMGs, ebony fretboard, grovers, all state of the art back in 87, and everyone still wishes they had this awesome guitar ive had 4 20 years. list $1200, paid $900, Vai might pay $2000 or more (his was ripped off with 6 or 7 other axes) bottom line… i luv this ax too much

I have a red one with a Rose, and 3 EMGs (one double coil) no pick guard. I paid about $600 at guitar center, and I think it was one of the last ones in the late 80’s. I heard a guy play one at Madame Wongs in Santa Monica, and I knew it was the cool-man guitar to have. I still record with it all the time. I played a $350 Schecter with 2 double coil EMGs the other day, and the Aviator blows it away. I saw a lefty version that was sold several years ago and I wish I had picked it up. I think it went for under $300.
I have looked almost everywhere trying to look up the date on this guitar and I can’t find any serial numbers starting with "cv". Anyone have a guess? i am about to buy this guitar for $1000 and want to know what it is, no help from seller.

CV series were produced at the corona CA factory shortly after the RI plant was shut down. These are really well made guitars. They were made 2002 – 2003.

I don’t know anything about this guitar except it was my mother-in-law’s. I am trying to get as much information on it, ie.: what it’s made of, the fretboard size shape etc. Any details anyone can help with would be greatly appreciated. I am going to be selling it and need details for the ad. I do know it is a single cut, with sound holes and a "Whammy bar". Pretty sure it has a sunburst finish, rosewood fretboard, made in 1966, and a 6 string. I know very little about guitars in general.
If you know of a website, the people to talk to, or you know any details that would help me. Please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Does anyone know where I might find a black, Westerly built D-30 or D-40 in good shape?
Just bought a DV-72 NT HG. From what I gather, a limited addition of 200. Mine is serial # A0720119. I would assume that the "72" in the serial designates D-72, and #119 designates #119 of 200. Can anyone confirm that? I would assume that the HG stands for high gloss, does anyone know what the NT might mean? I wonder what the mood was in Westerly in late 1994 with the financial uncertainty that must have been at the Guild factory at the time. Any former Westerly Guild employees, please respond, or anyone else with ANY other information on the model. Thanks

Looking for a Guild M-20 in very good condition. Does not need neck reset, no body cracks, lifting frets/bridge. Normal wear acceptable. Case is a plus. Please contact me if you know of one for sale. Thanks.
I used to have one of these but now I can’t find it. I think it was a Guild Burnside something but I can’t remember. It had three nobs, a reverse tear drop type shape cut out at the bottom going up to the thing you put the strings into, and dual humbukers. Any ideas will be a great help. Thanks. If you still don’t know what I’m talkin about email me and I’ll send you a rough sketch of what I remember. Thanks

This popular thread has been given its own page : Guild X-79 for sale…value??
If it has a HSC I’ll give you $500 for it. Look @ Prepal.com for it’s re-sale value. There’s 2 that just sold on e-bay that didn’t even get $500 and were touted as rare, scarce, vintage! But they are fine quality guitars. They look "twisted" out of shape. If I find one I’m gonna reshape it by rounding off all the points. So let me know or good luck. Steve

Les has got you in the park Jenn… The difference is of course the condition and also pickup configuaration and color. The Teal and White are more limited followed by the Halloflec Black then the most common is the Red with the humbuckers… Hope this helps…as suggested..take a peak on ebay for market value they sell more there than anywhere else…
thx by the way i have a couple of these as well and am looking for a white one if anyone sees one…

Looking to sell my Guild x-79. Bought it in 1983 was originally red with 2 humbuckers. It has since been painted a flip flop green/blue all except the head stock which is still the original red with Guild logo. The tip of the headstock has been repaired NEVER affected the playing at all. The Pick-ups have been replaced with EMG Zakk Wilde’s and the tuners have been replaced with Grover’s This guitar plays flawlessly. Has original hard case. Only reason I’m selling itis because I’m now 60 and selling some of my guitar collection. If anyone is interested make me an offer via email. thanks

Hi I’ve seen them go for anywhere from $250 to $450 depending on condition. Being a Steinberger knockoff (albeit a decent one) the guitar snobs will look down on it. Weirdos collectors like myself are a different story. With a little tweaking by competent tech and maybe new pickups it’s a nice sounding guitar with really unique look. Guild (and hohner’s)korean knockoffs i believe are better than the current steinberger coming out of korea.

i have a black burnside guild crossbow… i bought it new…probably around mid 80’s…don’t really remember!..but i still have it, and i love it !!! the sound is great, and it stays in tune for a long time.out of all the electric gutairs i have ,it is the guitar i rely on the most. ..the only problem i have lately is finding strings in local music stores, online is the only place where i can find them.

These were really interesting guitars, designed by George Gruhn during his tenure at Guild. Sorry, new to the forum, not familiar with the format. I have a Crossbow six-string which I bought around 1989-90. The pivot posts under the bridge need to be replaced. Does anyone know where to get them? A Bill Lawrence pickup sounds real nice in the neck position of a two humbucker pick-up configuration.

Hi, I’m assuming the posts are bent toward the bridge. It’s common with the R-trem bridge. You’ve got three options. Get a new bridge bottom plate, from where I don’t know. Get a new bridge for about $90 at musicyo.com, they’ve got Steinberger bridge parts.
Or you can do what I did. I had my guitar tech replace the original posts by driving in posts from a Floyd Rose bridge into the guitar body. This made a better connect between strings and body and improved the tone. I think thet’re great looking and sounding guitars I’ve picked up two over last year. Good luck.
: I bought this guild crossbow burnside bass about 10 or 12 years ago. I came across this site today and am looking for some history. I read one saying they only made a about 30 of these. Any information as to its history and pricing would be great. Its color is white with black tips.
The bass is Korean made guild. the rumor is that there were all protoypes and few were sold. It’s the companion to the crossbow guitar of which I have two, and a bass. they’re a unique steinberger knockoff from 87? but decent for the price. A guitar crossbow just went for $300 on ebay. The stienberger snobs look down on them but for the price it’s great sounding and sharp looking bass.
Let me know what you’re asking when you decide

I bought a red bass in 1985 and played it throughout the 1990s in various rock bands. Does Guild have any official info on these anywhere?
Well as much as I hate to do it, the bass will be going up for auction on ebay in the next couple of days. I’m just not playing it. Also going up will be a fantasticly loud Vintage Peavey Super Festival Series F-800B amp head. These two together woudl knock walls down. for those of you interested in the Guild Burnside Crossbow Bass look for it on ebay in the next couple of days and if you don’t ebay then send me an email [email protected].

I bought mine in 1968-69. I believe it’s worth depends on the condition. I have seen them from $150 to $750. I just restored mine and still love the way it rings, even with the scratches and cracks.
I would not part with mine for under $5000.
what if mine is in crazy bad condition.
its got a bajillion cracks, but it still sounds good…
i think some pegs are loose…
haha
is it really worth that much? wow…
