Hey! I have a j&d brothers guitar i got 17 yrs ago used. It’s an ovation copy semi acoustic, top is wood body is plastic and it has leaf decorations like ovations. Does anybody know which model it could be?? The serial nr paper from inside the guitar is gone.

I bought a white Les Paul “Standard model” about 18 months ago because I loved the feel and the way it played. I wanted a 2nd guitar for playing the odd number in alternative tunings. Apart from the cheap feel of the tuners (easily replaced) I am very happy with this guitar which I paid £85 for, unbelievable.
Because it was so cheap I dared to try doing the Peter Green modification which means turning one of the pickup magnets over and therefore reversing the phase. When you play with both pickups selected…..Wow, well it’s never going to equal Peters sound but you know it’s really not that far off, think Need your love so bad.
My main guitar is a Gibson Les Paul so it’s unfair to compare them but pound for pound or dollar or euro it’s great value for money and ideal for beginners.

      I own 3 of them
      a strat vintage
      a télé blonde
      a jazz bas
      paid less than 400 bucks

when I should have the doremi I would buy the original american fenders
then I would pay 4000 bucks

how many gigs do I have to do to make it worth?
      tell me
I play for my own pleasure not bucks

I’m thinking to buy one for my collection and would like to get some information from those who have played with it. I think it has a good sound… Somebody??? Hi There, I think almost all of you were refering to the J7D Strat, which wasn’t my choice.First of all, because even Squier, made by Fender is really a crapy guitar(even for its price).Second of all,I needed a Les Paul by that time. And I have chosen the best from the models they make(they have 3 kinds of Les Paul:one around 175 $,the second (I don’t remember exactly) around 200 or so,and there is a nice model for just 250-300$.Well,I can tell you,it really has the feel of a genuine Les Paul in terms of resonance, body, response;but the pick-ups were crap(but what you expect at 300$????!!!)So,I did the right thing and I equiped it with the Zakk Wylde EMG and everything.AND NOW THE GUITAR REALLY ROCKS!!!!!!THAT MEANING:JUST GO FOR IT ,BUT BE SURE TO CHANGE THE PICK-UPS AND EVERYTHING.I’m really happy with it.For around 500$(including the ZW EMG’s),you can get a genuine screaming Les Paul:great harmonics and sustain, very bluesy ,yet heavy sound, high end crunch. This proves again the theory that many Les Paul copies sound really good(some say the shape of the body delivers 80% of that sound),while not many Strat copies deliver that kinda sound. The guitar is cheap, but very good. And it has that solid body which makes it hard to play(thick neck),but this helps to the sound:NO PAIN-NO GAIN-NO SUSTAIN!

I know this guitar. It was my first guitar and i intended to get something cheap. But when my order got here i had seemed to have received the wrong guitar! Who Cares J&D rocks!! I recently found it on the the net. I only payed $400 for a crappy strat copy and ended up receiving the J&D YC-951/P which is worth $629 Australian. Any way if u wanna check out the J&D guitars i have found go to this site: http://www.creativesound.com.au/prguitarsj&d/j&dbass2.JPG

Hey. I’ve played for some time on the YC-ST1 model, and it’s a great guitar considering the price (i think it costs under 140$, it might be the cheapest model, i don’t know). Had 3 single magnets, rosewood fingerboard and 22 frets. The electrics can be a bit tricky and a quality can vary…this model was available in 3 colours:black, white and sunburst, and i’ve played on each one and they all sounded a bit different. If you’re to buy one of them try playing on more than one guitar, and you should find the one that sounds better than the one you’ve tried previously. Bottom line: a guitar worth its price

The Chinese makes very good guitars these days. Perhaps the electonics is not the best, but what the …. I did choose among 20 peaces. And find a great one. So keep on looking, it may be worth it! Good Luck!

Hello. I have a Jack & Danny brothers guitar. It’s a copy model of gibson SG and it’s much better than for example those copies that Epiphone manufactures. Only thing that bothers me is that the original pick ups are not that good. I would also like to hear from somebody else about these guitars. They seem to be very rare??

Hey, I have a J&D guitar, its a black SG. I have replaced the bridge pick-up with a Seymour Duncan because the original one was very poor. I also have photos if anyone is interested. I had no idea they wer so rare!

You can find this SG model from various shops. But they are all bolt-on-necks. Mine is a solid body version and I haven’t found similar guitars anywhere..Maybe they’re not rare in Europe altogether. Only in Scandinavia..

I’m thinking to buy one for my collection and would like to get some information from those who have played with it. I think it has a good sound… Somebody??? —- I’ve got a J&D Les Paul Goldtop copy (don’t know the model name). The one with humbuckers (no P-90s). I payed (I’m Swedish) maybe US $300 for it. I’ve had it for about a year and a half now. The finish works, but what can you expect for such a cheap guitar? But I’d still say it’s the best LP copy I’ve ever seen (both look and feel). Personally I hate the look of Epiphone head. There’s a good acoustic sound in the guitar. But the electronics sure are worth replacing. I haven’t done that my self, but I’m going to – eventually. The frets can be a little sharp (true in my case). I’m thinking of grinding them down, but I’ve gotten use to them now. So it doesn’t really bother me any more. The finish has more of an "Early Goldtop" look. I would prefer the "Bullion Gold" color. But it’s doable as it is. The neck is bolted. But is still has the LP feel. It got the thin 60’s neck. I pefere the 50’s like on my Gibson LP Standard. I would recommend that you carefully examinates it before you buy it. I wouldn’t be surprised if the quality may vary. I don’t regret my purchase.
