I have a Sigma Les Paul, too. It was my first guitar, and I bought it used back in 1982 or so. It’s got a bolt-on neck. Most others that I’ve seen pictures of have the neck glued in.

Looking for some info on a Sigma Electric I picked up a couple of years ago. Its a Les Paul Deluxe copy but can not find any serial number. I suspect that is an Tokai Love Rocks model but I did not see any references on Sigma reselling them. It still plays great. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Hi there, I used to have a sigma electric guitar. I am trying to find another one, but having no luck. It looks like a telecaster or strat. It’s not an acoustic, strictly electric. Probably around 30 years ago. It was a really nice guitar, and would like to have it back. Thanks.
There is one for sale on e-bay for about 1,000 dollars, do you recall what the serial # was, I have one and my serial # is 0000046

Hi
I just might have what you are lookin for! I have a Sigma electric guitar with a sunburst finish. It looks like a strat and right im replacing the pickups and redoing the wireing. I bought the guitar from an older man in 1994.It didnt work at the time and i have jsut recently pulled it out of the closet and im working on it. If you want any more info or pics of the guitar than just send me an email
I’m bidding on a Sigma for sale. I have already been disapointed purchasing what was represented as a Jester from Yugoslavia.
Not disapointed with the sound quality or craftmanship but with
being told with out eqivacation the guitar was made in a plant owned by Martin and closed with the breakup of Yugoslavia and not being told the truth about the manufacture. As it has almost no marking I can not substantiate where it came from. Or what it’s worth!
However all is not lost. 30 years of mellowed spruce and redwood has produced an exceptionally deep and rich sounding guitar. It has no value in the marketplace other to those that hear it played and admire the craftmanship. Not one scratch beyond the pick guard scuff.
Please share anything you know about the sigma D-2. I don’t need another non liquidable instrument as I already have over 10 acoustics and acoustic electrics and had eBay block me from even referencing similarity to Martin. Thanks John
have a vintage 1956 j c martin guitar, tenor and was wondering about its value. It is complete with its original case and is in very good condition. Can you give me a value range. Thanks, Pat Mele
Can Someone give me some information on this guitar. It looks like the one on Chet Atkins Album. I’m trying to sell it and need some information on it.

I have a Sigma Martin Electric guitar I bought 1 year ago only played 6 times, maybe, and would like some information on this guitar. I can’t find anything out about it. Is it collectible, or is it worth just what I paid for it? Bought as new from a music store that closed down.

Sigma thin body that is 1 1/2- 2 inches thick 1980/1985 model
Bobby Pressley
: Heya, I own a Martin Sigma Model SE-1B. Its a thin bodied type with a beautiful spruce top, cream binding on both sides, extremely playable with very low action. It has an on-board Martin pre-amp with eq. The back is rounded so it’s wider in the center of the bowl and thinner at the top and bottom. The body is cherrywood looking in color on the sides and back and the neck is most likely rosewood with an ebony fingerboard and pearlescent dot inlays. The neck is also cream bound. I have never seen this guitar anywhere. I purchased it sometime in the early 1990’s. Does anyone know this model or why i can’t find it.
: Thanks.
That would be an SE-18 NOT an SE-1B. Produced in Early 80’s before Sigma guitar manufacturing moved from Japan to Korea. Very limited production of the 4 model acoustic electrics they made.
I now own 2 Martin Sigma SE 18 guitars. The first one I found in the Martin Factory stamped as a reject. It had a flaw in the finish around the sound hole. It is, to this day, STILL my favorite guitar to play. Just found another on Ebay for $300. I also own A Martin D28 that sits in the case. If you ever want to get rid of yours,,,,let me know.

I am trying to find some information on an electric guitar (solid body) that Martin made in the mid to late 70’s (I believe). I can’t seem to find any info on the web and don’t currently have the guitar available to get a model number. I would like to find out its worth and maybe a little history on why C.F. Martin ever even made an electric. Any help would be appreciated.
I have a blonde Gibson SG copy Sigma purchased in 1975. The finish is still excellent. The only changes made to the guitar are pick-ups and the tuners. It plays great and has a warm sound. It weighs more than the SG though.
Fitz
In brief, the guitar you describe was made in Japan on behalf of CF Martin by the Tokai company. You own either an SBG2-6 or an SBG2-9 (depending on hardware) made between 1973 and 74.
Martin has made several electric series over the years. They are all very collectible:
E-suffix electro acoustics, 1959-1964 (D-18E, D-28E, OO-18E)
F series electric archtops, 1961-65 (F-50, 55 and 65)
GT series electric thinlines 1966-8 (GT-70, GT-75)
Tokai Manufactured copies 1973-4 (SBG2-6, 2-9, SBF2-6, -8)
18 series solid electrics 1979-80 (E-18, EM-18 EB-18 bass)
28 series solid electrics 1980-82 E-28, EB-28 bass
Some Korean made copies with the ‘Stinger’ label 1985-1989.
Martin stopped making electrics because their core market is acoustics, and they do those best, bluntly. I’ve interviewed the people involved to try to get to the bottom of the whole thing, and that’s basically it.
I have all the records the factory has, and then some 🙂
I also have one and I have never seen another. The one Vintage Guitar article that briefly mentions it says it has a rosewood fretboard and mine is laminated maple I think. It’s certainly one of the greatest guitars I’ve ever played and I wish I could find out more about it, though I have to say it is interesting that it is such a rare guitar. The only drawback is the bolt on neck. Had these been neck through like the late 70s Martin electrics it would be THE ULTIMATE guitar.
I completely agree that if this had neck through construction it would be the ultimate guitar. Mine is amazing even with the bolt on. I’ve only ever seen a few others and those were either Amped Studs or Sigmas but not in great shape or w/o the vibrato bar. I worked at a guitar shop and met a gentleman from Martin who confirmed that only “a couple hundred or so” were made for Martin and that they didn’t even have much info about them at the factory.
I have a natural wood finish and a maple fretboard with gold appliances – the way it came when I bought it in 1974. The only thing I’ve done is replaced my pickups with DiMarzios. This is a wonderfully crafted and super sounding guitar. And, now I’ve discovered how RARE this thing is, it would take a chunk of coin to make me part with it.
In 1975, I was given a Martin Sigma SBG2-9 for a graduation gift. Of all the guitars that I’ve played on stage with, It is the one that gets the most compliments. Its a gorgeous guitar and plays like butter. The only complaint that I have with it, is that it is a bit heavy. For some reason, it seems to feel and play better with age. Thanks for your follow-up on it!
If the SBG2-9 is the guitar with the gold plated hardware and white pickguard, I have one. I am the only owner – had it for years. It is the most beautiful guitar I’ve ever seen – and it IS hefty in weight. Anyone know anything about it’s pickups?
Hi. I have an Sigma Stratocaster-copy that I bought in Sweden(where I live) in 1976. It has a maple-neck an was white before I striped the paint. The paint was real bad,I peeled it of like a hard-boiled egg. Now its beautiful natural ash-finish.
