Hi sell loads of magazines on ebay and have about 1000 in stock.
This popular thread has been given its own page : Rickenbacker bass 4001 JG
: Hello
: I’m looking for this type of bass and anyone who can help me out please contact me.Of course it must be used but in good playing condition.
Hello there. Maybe you should forget about the 4001 totally and go for the upgrade to the 4001, known as the 4003. The 4001 is made for flat strings only, but the 4003 can use flats & rounds. Rounds will chew up the fretboard of a 4001 and may even stress the neck to the point of a slight curve in the neck. The 4003 has bigger holes for sockets when adjusting the Rods in the neck. I had a buddy from Deer Lake that had a 4001 and he got rid of it after awhile. I told him about the 4003. Take care and,
May all Rush fans live long and prosper.

My guitar has a switch on it(not the toggle switch)that seems to be a bright switch but it also seems to do more than that. Could anyone tell me what that switch is called and what it is supposed to do. I would also like to know what kind of pickups it has. I bought it used when I was 15, some 25 years ago. Any information I could get would be great.

I have one of the same guitears. It has a 4 position rotary switch. @ of the positions selects each pickup individually. The 3rd and 4th position select both pickups in-phase and out of phase.
There is also a slide switch that brightens up the sound by splitting the coils in the pickups.
I have a stingray 2 aswell, and Im looking to sell it, cant seem to find a good price range anywhere, could I get some advice?
i need hall oates videos and concert videos all the way to 2002 asap

I have a MM Stringray II in superb condition (not quite mint – small crack – 2/3mm – on pickguard from one screwhole) which has been safely stored away unplayed for 5 years. Active electrics fine! No case though (tried to get one but it’s too long for standard cases). No idea what it’s worth – I paid £550 in 1995. As everyone knows, it’s a dream to play but heavy by today’s standards.
Cheers

ihave one too. its an 70s model in ash with blackpickguard
at the moment i´m trying to find a picture in the net to show another friend! i´ve been trying to get it listet on the musicman homepage for thievery protection, but thats not possible there. maybe if some more guys write them, so they may do so! i´ve mine since mid 90s and i payd 1140DM(germanmarks)and it has an label from an groningen/holland guitarshop, for it! in the earlier jears i saw some on a musician outdoormarket for between 600 and 1100€ but i actually dont know at wich rate they where selled, and also its a few years ago!
iv, seen totally5 or 6 my counted within.
actually its the last jazzmasterstyle guitar build by leo himself as the owner of a guitar producingfactory in his lifetime. as i know there is no rebuilded, or newer rebuilded jazzmastertype before his death!
it gets a lot worth! its beautifuller than any later builded MM, and is an real fender!
i have an picture showing leo working on my guitar! and i´m shure that its exactly mine!!

I also have an original Stingray 2, it was my main guitar for about 18 years. I love it and still play it at home. I’ve a G&L Asat now but I love hearing about these guitars. Mine is a natural blond with black pick guard. It is well used and has been refetted once. Purchased from Merv Cargill in Melbourne Australia around 1978

: I have a MusicMan Stingray II guitar, and original Leo model. The Stingray 1 and 2 models differed only in that the two models had slightly different neck radius’ and were offered in overlapping years.
Mine is in near mnt condition. It is one of the original white bodies with the blond neck. The original Musicmans were finished in a polyester finish, which was much tougher that the laquer that were found of Fenders. It did have a tendancy to yellow more which is how you almost always find these Musicmans.
BTW, the Stingray models were only offered for a short time and were quickly replaced with the Sabre model. This makes the Stingray models quite rare. The Sabre had a different layout and resembled the basses a little bit. With this model they dropped the rotary switch found on the Stingray.
My Stingray was purchased from the original owner circa 1979. Like most Stingrays, it has a very powerful sound. I used it maybe 5 or 6 times at a few gigs. I tended to prefer a Les Paul and a Guild Starfire IV because they were

I am the original owner of a 1978 Musicman Stingray guitar; natural wood finish with black pickguard, active electronics. Everything is original and in good shape (aged looking but no major flaws). I am interested in selling, and am just researching prices. If you are interested in purchasing, please leave me an e-mail. Thanks
I was a proud owner of a Stringray 2. It had a few dings and scratches but still played extremely well. It was all in original condition, still with original case. When I sold it last year I had a collector contact me and he quickly snaffled it up for $2500. I thought I would only get about $800 for it so I was more than happy but after purchasing it he informed me of a few things I didnt know about it and told me that it was highly collectable.
:are you still interested in selling?
I actually have one, White pickgard and yellowish/wood clear finish… and i receantly came about to know it’s actually one of the first 200(not certain) guitars made by Leo Fender when Musicman predated Ernieball.
But sorry to say it’s not in mint condition, I never knew it was a good guitar until a couple of moth’s ago…
I can send you pictures if you wish.
yeah, like to have pictures!

I have one. It is brown, in a strat shape although unlike a strat, it is as heavy as lead and has a pre-amp.
I am sure it predates Ernie Ball and I have a feeling it is an original Leo from his early days in MusicMan. Ernie Ball’s site pays little if any regard for that part of MusicMan’s history. Do you know a web site? Or any clues at all?

I am very happy to find this website. Yesterday, the widow of a dear friend gave me his 1977 Stingray II. The guitar is unbelievably immaculate because he always took extremely good care of all his belongings. He was a professional musician since his teenage years and worked with some of the top bluegrass bands in Nashville as well as some excellent country bands, including Hank Williams Jr. and Hank III. He passed away on January 4th, 2008 at the age of 74. I had always known him and his family, as they were my family’s neighbors for as long as I can remember. His widow’s family were also friends of my family and we all attended the same church when I was a boy. I’ll never be an exceptional guitar player, but this was one of my buddy’s most prized possessions. Money cannot buy this guitar from me as I treasure it more than any guitar I own, including a 1964 Gibson J-50. I am enjoying learning more about these guitars.
