I truly hope that people are giving credit where credit is due !!! I am the originator of the "Cry For A Shadow" guitar tablatures. I am Kevin Leclerc formerly of Beatlemania, Revolver and The Silver Beetles from New England, U.S.A I created the tablatures back in the mid 1990’s and have given it to thousands of requestors on this site. As I directed the recipients earlier, all I ask is that my name is still connected to these tabs which Hal Leonard Publishing refused to buy from me for the book " The Complete Beatles Scores" book. They Are directly and undeniably complete and correct. Ask those who have requested it from me. I only say this because some people are using it with the words transcribed by someone else, usually the person sending it and that is not the way I operate. So again I ask that my fellow guitarists and Beatlemaniacs be true to their word.My old E-mail was [email protected] if you dont believe that which is the truth. Once again,
Thank you,
Kevin Leclerc

Hi
This is a great song in 5/4 I believe or 10/8 but the chords get fiendishly difficult for me after the opening C Bb F start – any ideas? I’ve drawn a blank on the net.
Light flight, Pentangle
the introduction is in 6/8

the main body of the song, verse and chorus is in alternating 5/8 and 7/8 creating a jerky twelve feel

Visit frosty stars in the backwash light
Star becomes a vision, never mind the meaning,
Hidden there, moving fast, it won’t last…
Chorus
verse
Time passes all too soon, how it rushes by,
Now a thousand moons are about to die
No time to reflect on what the time was spent on,
Nothing left, far away, dreamers fade,….
Middle eight: the whole of this section is in 6/8

It’ll help if you get the rhythm right! The main part (apart from the middle section) is alternately bars of 5/4 and 7/4. In other words, always 12 beats for two adjacent bars.

The original was in the key of C.
The one posted on youtube is a semitone lower in B major.
My idea on the chords go something like this in C major since it’s simpler.
(intro)
C7/// Bb7/// F7/// C7///.
The melody chords in 5/4 time.
C///F/Bb C///F/Bb x 2
Gmi///C// Gmi//Dmi//*Ami// Dmi/// Ami//Dmi/.
Then back to C///F/Bb C
**The timing slips momentarily to 2/4 time just for the Ami chord and then resumes back at 5/4.

:Actually the INTRO chords could also read;
Cmi9/// Bb7/// E7/// Cmi9.(This would be if you were playing it in THE KEY OF C as above)
The reason why i feel it’s a Minor 9th chord is because i’ve been studying John Renbourne’s fingers on ‘youtube’ (from a version done in B MAJOR) and it definitely sounds like a MINOR 9th chord, On this film clip, since he’s playing the whole song a semitone LOWER(Key of B MAJOR) it would be B minor 9th he’d be playing .–Listen to the notes carefully. He’s playing the constant arpeggio, from low to high, of B,open D,A,D,C#,B,A (which constitutes a B minor 9th chord) during the intro and especially during the quiet passage towards the end.
..Incidentally, the chords for the quiet passage where Jacqui McShee breaks away from the main theme are;
Bmi9//// A//// E//// Bmi9////
F#mi////C#mi////Bmi9////C#mi////
Bmi9////F#mi//// E////Bmi9////
Obviously, just take this whole progression up a fret higher for the key of C major.
I hope this isn’t too complicated for you.
Have fun!
Peter.

I just posted a tab for Cry for a Shadow. Here’s the URL, enjoy.

:Actually the INTRO chords could also read;
He’s playing the constant arpeggio, from low to high, of B,open D,A,D,C#,B,A (which constitutes a B minor 9th chord) during the intro and especially during the quiet passage towards the end.
..Incidentally, the chords for the quiet passage where Jacqui McShee breaks away from the main theme are;
Bmi9//// A//// E//// Bmi9////
F#mi////C#mi////Bmi9////C#mi////
Bmi9////F#mi//// E////Bmi9////
Obviously, just take this whole progression up a fret higher for the key of C major.
I hope this isn’t too complicated for you.
Have fun!
Peter.

D Em D Em D Em
Marking time, hear the sighs, close your eyes…
Chorus:
D C D C G
Ba – da – pa do da da – ba – pa do da da…
Stepping from cloud to cloud passing in their flight
Visit frosty stars in the backwash light
Star becomes a vision, never mind the meaning,
Hidden there, moving fast, it won’t last…
Time passes all too soon, how it rushes by,
Now a thousand moons are about to die
No time to reflect on what the time was spent on,
Nothing left, far away, dreamers fade,….
Bridge:
D C G D Am G Am Em
Strange visions pass me by, winging softly thru the sky
G D Am Em
O-ver the wa-ter, ah….
Swirling, the waters rise up above my head.
Gone are the curling mists how they all have fled.
Look, the door is open, step into the space
Provided there – Da do da, – da, do da….
