After releasing the US-made Fallout guitar earlier this year, G&L welcomes the more affordable Tribute Series Fallout.
This guitar puts a modern spin on the Leo Fender designed SC-2, while keeping the price accessible to gigging musicians.
The idea behind SC-2 was to make a comfortably small electric guitar that can take a beating – this is carried over into the Tribute Fallout. It features the same compact double cutaway shape, but uses mahogany wood for the body instead of the alder or ash available for the US made version. To make it distinguishable from the SC-2, this guitar comes with a curvy creme or white pickguard that aesthetically matches the shape.
The medium C profile neck is carved from hard-rock maple and is topped by a rosewood fingerboard. It has a neck radius of 12″ and has 22 medium jumbo nickel frets running along its 25.5″ scale length.
The alnico pickups used on this guitar are all Paul Gagon designed, having a P-90 on the neck and a humbucker on the bridge (the US version of Fallout had a Seymour Duncan JB humbucker on the bridge). G&L described the neck pickup as providing a rich jangle, while the splittable bridge humbucker provides the meat, grind and spank. A 3-way pickup selector is provided along with a volume and tone knob. The tone knob comes with modern push/pull coil tap functionality, expanding the guitar’s tonal flavors.
The guitar comes equipped with a G&L Saddle Lock bridge, designed by Leo Fender. Aside from keeping the guitar in tune, G&L mentions that it adds sustain and articulation. Rounding off the guitar’s hardware is an exclusive Fallout headstock shape with sealed-back 18:1 ratio tuners.
The G&L Tribute Series Fallout is currently retailing for around $400. It is available in three finishes – Fullerton Red, Sonic Blue and Gloss black. Visit G&L Guitars for more information.
