Songs you like that are considered to be naff or lacking in originality?
Ive been listening to 3 tonight and i must admit i do play them a bit more than i would like to admit.
1) Baker Street – Gerry Rafferty, i just love everything about that song, it takes me way back
2) Mr Bluesky – ELO , Takes me back to 2 summers of skateboarding as a 12 year old, pure nostalgic value and a fantastic tune and production.
3) Rock your Baby – George Macrae, a summer of going to my dads dry cleaning shop in Battersea when i was 8, i discovered Jeanette the 20 yr old student who used to book the cleaning in, first crush, and this song always played on the radio.First record i ever bought was Black Betty
CD’s this christmas (only got 2) was The Beatles – Love and ‘One From the Heart’ Tom Waits with Crystal Gayle.

I have The Green stuff too, Scritti politti were a firm favorite of mine, were they one of the first bands to use the fairlight synth? I didn’t know Green had become ‘Naff’ , better hide my Scritti colection to the depths of the big brown box in the garage.
How about Prefab Sprout? are they on the Naff list too? oh my god ive lost touch with youth music!!
Somebody help me, guide me to the light.By the way, did anyone recognise any of the artists featured on Stacey’s Christmas list?

Have yet to go to Amazon and spend some money on CDs lately. Probably get a lot of those “Best Indie Guitar Compilation Ever Featuring The Same Acts Each Year Vol VII” things.

I’m a big fan of the Cope. (Although could do without the spectacle of him cutting himself on stage with his mic stand during “Reynard The Fox”). However, I was never too keen on the Teardrop Explodes. Once he became a solo artist I pricked up my ears and took notice.
He’s a guitar nut too, which is something I appreciate. He always has a selection of interesting guitars when he plays live. last time I saw him at the Oxford Zodiac, he commented on how rock’n’roll it was to take off his guitar and pass it to the roadie and have the roadie pass him another identical guitar for the next song (both white Gibson SG juniors, BTW).
I actually got to meet him on another occasion at the Oxford Apollo when the MC5 were playing – he was quite stoned at the time, but I think that’s probably the norm for him.

First record I ‘aquired’ was the single of ‘Kiss’ by the Art of Noise featuring Tom Jones. Then Appetite for Destruction by G’n’R.
First record I forked out for was Genesis, The Way We Walk (The shorts), still don’t know why?!My mate just dropped off about 500 cds for me to trawl through (he deals on Fleeb and Amazon. They’re mostly Steps, Boyzone etc but some gems and I don’t feel (very) guilty cos I didn’t chose them myself…
But if anyone does want any B*Witched etc PM me 😆
