I bought a black Drifter electric at Goodwill for $25. It looks to be a very nice copy of a Les Paul. Does anyone know where to get parts? It needs a tuning peg and volume knob and the body is a little "crackled" If it’s too expensive to repair I’ll just hang it on the wall….nice.

To keep the Les Paul look, check out musiciansfriend.com and they have Gibson replacement parts. Got six new tuning keys for under $40, made by grover for Gibson. Nice.
Best price. Gibson stuff, Wal-Mart price.

Drifter was made in korea in late 70’s and early 80’s
Here’s a link: http://members.gbnn.net/[email protected]/
The history of the Drifter is two as has been declared. One said to have been assisted in it’s making by Mr.Les Paul himself, just those with his guitar designs back in the late sixties and the rights to continued the production was offered there after.2nd..some at Elderly Instruments in Lansing Mi say that it is just a cheap Korean made guitar! This has been repoted as of late as false.Just to take your guitar for low price and re-sell at a higher value! E-mail me and I will have an actuall report to forward you on this matter. Hello! I am inquiring about a Drifter Continental acoustic guitar from Korea. In is in mint condition in a case with the Drifter guitar instruction booklet that came with this purchase. I know that it is from the late 70’s or early 80’s. The graphics in this instruction booklet represent 70’s time period. It’s beautiful and carry’s a broad bassy sound when strummed. I am looking to see about a ballpark price on this instrument and maybe even a buyer. If anyone has any info on a price/Appraisal, it would be greatly appreciated. The set number is 16010350 and model DC 310 Thank you.. Ray
just curious how much it would be worth. Its old of course had it for some 20 years. Bought it use too.

i was given a drifter guitar by a friend who didnt know much about it (sucks for her) and am interested in selling it but i have heard from some people that in ment condition there worth alot more than a few hundred dollars more like in the thousands now im not sure if this is true but im interested in finding out. so if you find any other info please foward it to me
thanks -sarah
: It seem no one knows much about the value or origins of this guitar, I have a black one and the sound quality is awesome, since there is no info on it and it is an vintage guitar, I think we should be the ones who determine a price value seeing as no one else is. Since it sound good and has good quality hukmbucker pick-ups, I know I wouldn’t sell mine for less that 200-300 dollars. So there’s a Price quote for all you fellow Drifter owners.

i found a drifter les paul that is black in the dumpster and wiped it down and its slick as butter but i have found absolutly nothing on the Internet i really have no idea wat to do but it sounds GREAT i just want to know more about it never seen a drifter or never even herd of the name but glad it sounds great
What something is worth is determined by what buyers are willing to pay. If you advertise extensively and the best offer you have is $200, then your item is worth $200. Whether you are willing to sell for that price is another story. Normally sellers believe that what THEY have is “special” or “rare”, and think it’s worth more.
I also have the drifter Les Paul Copy. I’m looking to sell mine. so if anybody has any info on how much they are worth or anything like that……..i think they were japanese made also. Thanks
-mike
i think jim burns made the drifter… not sure though
I have a Magnum electic. The cord is very sensetive to movement. The slightest move and the connection is lost, it sounds like nails on a chalk board. What should I do?
Yeah i just got a drifter from my Uncle… cant find anything about it all i kno is its about 25-30 years old…

I need the nut measure on any original drifter Please any drifter owner!!!!
Can anyone PLEASE PLease measure the nut on their drifter guitar. I need to replace mine. The original is gone.
OK Drifters! I found a nice Drifter Guitar, it’s a red one, pretty good shape at the pawn shop for 199…I liked the guitar because I need something with that John Lee Hooker Epiphone sound…seems to have it…I talked them down to 129! These posts made me buy it…Thank you all…
ok, i found a Drifter 1970 Catalog…it’s at vintaxe.com, though I don’t wanna pay 10 bucks just to look at a 6 page catalog…if anyone does pay, email me…I’ll trade you something like music, etc…Again, thank you Drifter owners…I’m gonna be pretty happy once i string this Drifter left handed…this this looks, feels, and sounds just magnificent! I was looking for a one of a kind guitar…and now i’m so stoked!
: I bought my drifter from a pawnshop and I found that it is a 1970s drifter it looks like the electric Epiphone which the Epi is made by Gibson mine is a 6 string and I paid only $60.00, but other then that I really dont know to much other then they were made by Gibson and I think it was one of their off brand set of electric guitars.
i also have a 1970’s drifter les paul copy..they were distributed by Conn. music instuments and are pretty well made japanese guitars
G.C.Conn guitars, their spinoff brand made in approx. 1980 the “Continental” and “Drifter” and possibly others).
: I was givin a guitar buy a rich aunt of mine and wondering of its history-value… If you know anything about it please email me thank you!! (it is a drifter electric guitar almost identical to a gibson les paul)
First guitar I ever owned. 1978-79. Black, Les Paul Copy. I had gold hardware, but I think they came chrome also. After some tweaking, it really was a nice guitar. Dropped the action a little, put some new tuning keys on it and I played the hell out of it. From 8th grade, high school jazz band and then college. I regret selling mine, so I would hang onto it. Alot of people will talk it down, so what. I can give you some pointers to make it a killer axe, or if it is for sell, I am interested.
Enjoy it, my Drifter was a trusted friend, part of my jamming history.
42 years old and I still say "If it’s too loud, your too old."

Hello all!
I have a question. I just bought a Drifter LP in cherry red/burgundy, not a sunburst, for $45 and it seems pretty old, maybe from the 70’s. The thing is, when I brought it home I saw after further inspection that there’s about a 4-5 in. crack running from the nut down the side of the neck. I was wondering if you thought it would be worth it to get it repaired. The trim around the body is very slightly cracked in spots where it would’ve been naturally worn from age and lots of use. Also there’s a chip on the front, a couple light scratches on the back and the headstock plastic is a bit cracked/warped. So, what do you think, is it worth it to fix the crack in the neck?

: hey! i have the exact guitar also, black with white trim and is a solid body guitar. mine is very heavy but I don’t have any info. on it either Does look just like a les paul though
I have one like this as well———-just got it at an estate sale…does anyone know anything about this guitar???
all I know is they are made by the Continental/Conn music company, and apparently they make every kind of instrument you can imagine…only thing is, they’ve been doing it since the 1800s, and eventhough they had a slew of guitars manufactured by aria in Korea and japan[have one of those too;1968 335 style], There is absolutely NOTHING online that resembles a database. Trust me, I’ve been looking…

Hello all, I am Onna!
I got my ‘Drifter’ back in 1982…it was a mess, I took it home cleaned it up, put new strings on and played it with great delight. It was in it’s original case with the signed number 6 of 7 and followed by: 1638, the co. of CG Conn LTD.
EST 1875 Oaksbrook, Illinois. It has a LesPaul body in a gold to black sunburst and black back and neck. This guitar is amazing.
I have heard a few stories about this. One was that Marty Robbins had a guitar designed for him…this is 6 of 7 that were made like this. I don’t think I could put a price on it and prolly would never sell it. It has some serious soul..Someone played the HE** out of it before me,then I continued its journey! Thus, the back of the neck is severely worn from playing not marred…played!
Write me with your Drifter tales! [email protected]
I, too, am a "Drifter" owner – who is tired of wearing out his fingers on my Drifter’s bent neck! I just ordered a Wechter. Unlike so many things I see posted here, my Drifter continually goes out of tune and kills my fingers past the second or third fret – seriously warped neck…

Hello,
I just a Drifter Acoustic Guitar at a yard sale Saturday morning and paid $22 for it in its original hard case. When I got home I noticed that it had NEVER been played! This guitar is flawless and sounds absolutely superb and has excellent action. I have read that these guitars are really hard on a player’s fingers and that is not the case with mbelieves. After researching these guitars I feel I am extremely lucky to have found one that has never been played! It is in flawless condition and I can’t speak high enough of this guitars warm deep and high tones and it’s remarkable performance!
My Drifter Guitar is Model: D-22 Acoustic, C. G. CONN LTD., Oakbrook ILLINOIS. Serial Number was left blank. This was an error by the Company that manufactured the guitar.
Appraised value of $1255.00 by MUSICIANS FRIEND Appraiser TONY K. said “You’re lucky Matthew! This is a very rare find, most of these guitars are in bad condition due to poor handling by the owner. The sound of the Drifter D-22 is absolutely priceless if taken care of by owner/player. Pleasure to appraise your guitar. MFA Tony”. Tony also had told me that the appraisal given was kept on the low side because the guitar doesn’t hold a well known name such as Fender, Gibson, Applause, etc.
I’m very happy to own and Play my DRIFTER D-22 Acoustic Guitar!
i am trying to find out about this drifter guitar, it is named a continental the serial number is 7ho or 4030375 model #df150 in excellent condition in hard case, i’d like to know if it is worth anything mp
