I know this has probably been asked before, however i need help! i recently aqcuired a bond electraglide, but I cant get it to work. When it is plugged into the box the guitar comes on and the led lights come on, but no sound will come out of my amp? I know im not hooking somthing up correctly or perhaps something isnt set right. i would appreciate any help i could get with this problem. If anyone knows anything i would appreciate your post, or email. thanx

I bought an electraglide 2 years ago wit the same problem, itook it to sound control (sure you have one locally who provided the correct lead) try them im now knocking out the medicine show bottom line and e=mcx77pls 4 = or something on my electraglide, so nothng to worry about.

I had the some problem. What I found was that the way the PCB is held in the box puts stress on it that can snap it in half. This had happened to mine. It was a simple matter of joining the board back up with wires instead of getting a whole new PCB. This way, the board can flex as needed…
Hope this helps.
I have two bonds but require a finger board for one can anyone help Ihave spare electronic boards to sell or swap anyone interested?

Thank you in advance
Olivier (I own 4 electraglides) 😉
Think you can send me the schematics for the power supply? Thanks
I’m posting one to my site today, http://www.chrisguitars.com. Complete with manual, power supply, cable, and case. Looking to get $850 or, better, a cool trade.

This popular thread has been given its own page : Bond Electraglide
i have had this bond since new.
I had a music shop in Holland and bought 2 Electraglides when they were released. One I sold en one I still have.
Complete and ‘Brandnew" I also have the electronic scheme.
All the part where from Schaller.
Hi Rob,
… any options to get the electronic scheme … ? I’m currently running the guitar on 9V (was like this when I bought it on eBay 2 years ago …) – which I suppose is not the way it was “designed”. Switching and all is fine – however the sound is kind of “thin” (okay, may also be due to missing wood …). Or is it an option / good idea to put more 9 Volt batteries into the guitar …?
Ciao,
Bernd.

Hello Bond fans. I’ve got my Electraglide WWW site back up at http://hometown.aol.com/gradykoch/myhomepage/index.html. There’s information there on electronics and repair.

I had problems with my Bond – I had to replace the voltage regulator in the power supply. Once I’d done that, it still didn’t work. The repair guys at Chandler Guitars (in Kew, London) told me a trick – plug the power supply into the guitar THEN plug the power supply into the mains. For some reason the spike helps reset the electronics – they may not be dead at all!

I now Have a bond with a simle 12 volt radio shack power suppy and homemade box with two stereo oplugs with original Bond leads .My question would be are the leads special apart from being like stereo headphone plugs .PS THE ACTION ON MY bOND HAS SLIGHT buzzing but equal on all frets I like its sitarish minor sound .Is there gauges of strings or methods to ease this or is it wear .
hey i bought a bond but i have no power supply or anything. just the guitar. is there any way i can get few pictures of your set up cuz to tell you the truth i dont have a clue this thing sets up. thanks
Mick, your problem may be a very simple one to correct. The Bond runs on a power pack that puts out roughly 48 volts. If this is working and you still have no electronics, check to make sure that you are using a ring tip sleeve ( stereo) cord from the pack to the guitar. One hot lead runs the LEDs and the other runs the active pickups. If you already knew this, just call me an overblown idiot and take it to an electronics shop, not a music store. They should be able to figure it out for you.
Ms. Bond, my condolances. I love your father’s design.
Bending notes: Another way to explain it, ‘We’re trained to get close to the fret. For the Bond get away from the fret so you can get some meat on the string’.
My situation: I got my Bond after the factory had closed. All I got was the body, tuners, and tailpiece. If anyone has any information at all, or better yet a source of parts (I can dream), please let me know.

He lost the power supply and ask me if I can built him another one, the problem is that I don’t know what is the actual power used, you’d be very nice if you can tell me what voltage the bond use and how many amps ?ex:(12v-800ma)
Thank you for your help if you can.

Andrew Bond who invented and built the electraglide was my father, he passed away 1999 will be sadly missed. I am his son and would gladly try and answer any questions.
Hi Ashley,
I’ve just bought an electraglide with tremolo and I’m looking forward to know how many of them were produced. Do you know anything on it? (Great guitar!)
Cheers
Olivier
I have owned a Bond since new 85 and have never had any problems, although it has not been used a great deal. The serial number is 000961 however I wonder if there were that many made. Does anyone know how many were produced?
iv just come got one. most peeps agree that there was only about 1000 made by andrew bond of muir of ode here in scotland, there wasnt many made because they proved too expensive for him to make.

I have 1 and live just 7 miles from where they were made.Andrew Bond made approx 1500 before he had to stop trading due to the production costs etc..

Very elegant design to these guitars–it’s sad Andrew passed away. I’ve got a WWW site dedicated to Electraglides at http://www.bondelectraglide.hothomepages.com. Please e-mail me with comments.
The guitar was made around 1985 in a small village called Muir of Ord in the highlands of Scotlnd. To my knowledge there was only a few hundred ever produced I have one myself and live only a couple of miles away from where they were made. Unfortunately i no longer works through an amp and the LED’s no longer work. Dont know how collectible they are or valuable but they are uniqe. They were not cheap at the time they retailed for about £800 but were just to ahead of there time and the neck scared people from purchasing, although they are probably the easiest of guitars to play. Hope this helps.
Andrew Bond, the maker, was my wifes step father. He lived in Poole, but set up the factory to make the guitars in Scotland.
could you tell me whether the guitar plays well? I’ve heard tell that the fret board makes it hard to bend notes!
: i was given a Bond Electraglide 2 years ago and have been trying to find out information about it but none of the music shops near me have and knowledge of the make or model. i was hoping you would be able to help me out!
I have an Electraglide that I bought in Aberdeen. It is an interesting instrument to play – you can bend notes, but you have to push just ahead of the previous fret because there is no gap between eached stepped fret at the fretted end – if that makes sense!
could you please tell me what leads you use to power the guitar , I have bought a stereo lead but this dosnt seem to work ,any info would be appreciated.
: could you please tell me what leads you use to power the guitar , I have bought a stereo lead but this dosnt seem to work ,any info would be appreciated.
The interior circuits are quite delicate so ensure the voltage does not go above 18v max
If I remember right the stereo lead provides the power supply to the guitar via the "tip" of the lead and the pick-up signal is returned via the shaft. As you can see I’m no electrician but I’ve had problems with my own Bond in the past and had to delve deeply into the workings of things as no-body around my neighbourhood knew anything about the circuitry.
Prsonally,I had to get a voltage converter as the transformer supplied with the guitar origionally would not work in the U.K. although there was a voltage switch on the box.
If in doubt, have a decent instrument technician check it out as spares are getting harder to find now if you blow a circuit.
Good luck
Andy
