We have an old model 319.1221000 made in USA. Do believe it’s a Silvertone or Harmony sold by Sears or JC Penny. Someone suggested it was a Gibson, huh. Trying to find an approximate date or age. Unfortunately there’s no Mfg ,date, or s/n anywhere other than the Model # on the head.

Hi All,
Has anyone out their come across an old solid bodyMaton (blondewood)guitar fitted with a Bigsby Tremelo Bar.
The unit was custom made one of three around 1960 by Maton
and was housed in a square brown case when I owned it.

anyone know anything about a canora guitar (archtop) looks like its about 30 some years old
I’m having a real time trying to date this guitar. It’s an exact duplicate of one my father had and sorta remembers purchasing prior to getting married in 1955. I believe this guitar was made by Kay. It’s construction is Maple top and sides with birdseye Maple back.
I can read L 9373 inside the body as well as what appears to be 1-COA.
Can’t find any info on the Kay site. The Harmony’s don’t appear quite the same as mine. Please help if you have any information for me.

I have a guitar with the same mark on the back of the neck. I have had this guitar in my family since I was a kid. It was purchased by my mother in the mid seventies from Sears I think, may have been JC Penneys. Other than that I am as lost as you. good luck.

I inherited this guitar from my dad. He must have purchased it about 40 or more years ago. He just tinkered with it from time to time. As I type this post, I have a very talented guitar player strumming on it right now and wants me to give it to him. The sound is awesome!!! I was curious as to the worth of it. The sentimental value is worth so much more than the actual worth. Think I will keep it!!! He can just play it for me whenever he wants to. It is truly phenomenal!!!!
sounds like the same guitar. I just bought this one and it really sounds good but no other markings. the neck has no truss rod and the model no. is stamped in white on the head in the back. let me know if there is any other info available.
Just picked up this "like new" acoustic 3/4 size guitar. "Made in USA" Model # 319 60209 Anyone have info on yr made and approx value?
My 319 is from the spring of 1969. LOOK in the sound hole and look for markings like this(S-69) or (F-71) this indicates the season and year it was made, i.e. Spring (S) Fall(F) and year, so (S-69) was made in the spring of 1969. if yours sounds like mine you should keep it, Great tone and sound depth for a 3/4 size. Cheers
any body have info for this guitar
Made in 1950’s
Current pricing $250-$500 estimate.
Good beginner guitar.
Rugid design; great "cowboy" guitar.

Hello,
My father bought me this guitar used when i was little and I just rescued it out of a flood today. Its in very good shape but the flood water is causing the neck to peel a bit. It says 559-1411 on the back of the neck. it has two volume knobs and a tremelo knob, two pickups, and is finished so its very light wood near the center that fades to black as you get to the edge of the guitar body. It has a case with a built in tube amp. I haven’t seen it in a while and was wondering if anybody knew about it. Is it rare? What year was it made? Does this model play good? Should I have it restored? I plan on playing it. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick

Karl,
I have the same model, got it at Sears in the early 70’s. Still works good, needs some TLC, looking for parts.

The most I can tell you is that this particular Silvertone was made by Teisco in either 1968 or 1969. I bought one myself in 1999 for $100 and I’m still playing it. Had to re-solder a few connections and replace some missing pickguard screws (unfortunately not with original parts).
I have a complete 319, but I do not have a cord. I understand it used a shorter 1/4 plug…is that true?

I had an old silvertone amp given to me along with a single pick-up hollow body, jumbo size acoustic guitar. Right now I’m looking for some info. on the amp. The control panel on the back says silvertone model 1344. It’s a one twelve single channel guitar amp, that came with an extremely cool matching sure microphone. The amp has inputs for the mic as well as the guitar. The amp is covered in a maroon vinyl with a four inch silver stripe across the bottom of the cab. The sure mic is old style square with its own adapter attached, so the mic itself screws on to a stand. The mic is also the same color as the amp. The speaker has a narrow silver ring around it and the grill is a woven silver cloth. Very cool. Both the amp and mic seem to work o.k. but I’m sure the amp needs gone through. It’s a little noisey, and not very loud at all. As I said before the amp says it’s a model 1344 but I found a picture on vintage tube guitar amplifier ring.com, the page was sears amp gallery. The picture looks like the amp I have, but his serial num. says its a 1303. This amp is in wonderful condition. I’d say an eight out ten. I’d like to get it tuned up to use for practice at home or small gig. I would greatly appreciate any info. I could get. Thanks, Jeff

I have what I believe is a Silvertone guitar. I,ve had it for 39 years. It’s been collecting dust in my cellar. I have just started cleaning it up and am going to restore it. I am missing the bridge cover. If you go to http://www.silvertones.com, you’ll see a blue or aqua colored guitar. Mine is similar except it was black. I need the bridge cover shown on that guitar. Any help would be great.
Thanks

I have a Silvertone Amp in case guitar and was wanting to know what it is worth? The only number I can find is 185 10010. It is black and white the amp works but you have to work with it a little to get any sound out. Thanks, Ryan
I might buy a 1484 head, it doesn’t have the original tubes. How much of a difference does that make? The head’s in great shape, but new tubes. Should I hold out for another head with stock tubes, or try to find replacement silvertone tubes, or just stop being picky? Anybody have any experienced advice?

Silvertone doesn’t now and never did manufacture tubes. This, or any, amp will have preamp tubes and power tubes. If you look at the tube, you may see some designation such as "12AX7", "6V6′, or "EL84". This is the tube type. Tubes are available from <Groove Tubes>. Do not mix up tube types. Tubes have a useful lifespan, so the original tubes would likely be no good. Buy the amp and go to groovetubes.com for the replacement tubes.
:kim, i had to replace on of my tubes in my silvertone and it didnt sound any different, although it was one of the smaller tubes. i cant say how much different it would sound replacing the two larger tubes ??? , scott
I have the 319.12009 with a painted on pick guard or so it seems. It is about half size, not a full size guitar. It says inside made in USA and there is a stamp that sasy F-68 ML as best as I can read it. Can anyone tell me when it was made and anything else about this instument. It looks to be old, and it has been highly used. It needs a lot of work to resotre it. Any information would be valued.

The back side of the headstock is printed Model or 319.120090000, Made in USA. There is also some numbers and Made in USA stamped on the inside of the guitar. It appears to be a plywood parlor guitar (3/4 size) with a fairly nice woodgrain top. I am trying to id it as well.
The letters S R stand for Sears Roebuck. Silvertone was the name they put on their guitars and other instruments.

JUST BOUGHT A USED SLIVER TONE GUITAR THE SAID IT IS A MOSRITE FLAMED MAPLE WITH SUNBURST FINISH MODEL # 26877 CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT YEAR THIS IS FROM ,ANY OTHER INFO , PAID $ 90 FOR IT WAS THAT A GOOD PRICE ?
The 26877 is apparently the Canadian version of the 1445. If you’ve got the 6-in-line headstock, it’s an earlier one, ’68 or so, and if you have the 3-per-side headstock, then it’s probably a ’70. Mine is a ’69, and has the 6-in-line headstock.

I’ve heard of these selling for $300-600 or so. $90 is pretty good, though I lucked out and found mine for free (some assembly required – it was taken apart).
I also have a 26877 Silvertone, made in Japan. Did you come up with any info – would love to find out what year, original costs, or anything. Let me know if you can. Thanks.

I found this on the interwebs
? Here’s a sweet closet find. It’s a Teisco-made 26877, which is the Simpson-Sears model number for the 1445. Sold in Canada, with a unique serif’d block logo, this is the earliest version of the venerable Japanese-made guitar, with the edge binding. The wood has some beautiful graining visible, but I’ve always wondered why Teisco aligned their ‘bookmatch’ with the neck pocket, rather than centering it. This fine twanger went for $565.

I just picked up one of these in "fair" shape (lots of scratches, a few dents, etc.) It’s going to need some work to get the amp reasonably functional. Right now it’s just massive distortion.
I was planning to fix it up and turn it around to sell, but it’s sort of cool looking so I’m tempted to just hang onto it Anyone know if it’s worth anything?
Thanks,
Jim

have you checked out Harmony Central’s user reviews? they dont have anything about 1451’s, but it does talk a little about 1448 and 1452. are you looking to sell it. i’ve been thinking about buying a silvertone with the case amp.

i am looking for a silvertone head and cab6x10 1485, it’d be cool if you could sell it to me
I am looking for a Silvertone 1485, if you are still selling it.
Me too bro.
I had one when I was young back in the 60’s. It was stolen from a club and I am looking again, that’s how I came across your post. Good luck to you and if you happen to find two of them…lemme know. BTW, it’s hard to find one complete because the cabs are made from thin particle board and most have come apart. The others have had the speakers pulled out. Still there are some out there…
Julien
Anybody got any Idea what this unit is going for? I’d like to sell mine…it’s in great shape
Thanks for any help
Tom Stacy
This amp is in good condition. I don’t know if it works, because the power supply chord is cracked in several places. I wouldn’t dream of plugging it up in this condition! I will have it prof. repaired before I sell. Make me an offer.
Does it have a white an grey interwoven tolex cover with a green velvet grille cloth with a picture of a treble cleff an notes on it? And does it still have the back cover over the 110 volt dc speaker magnets.I have one in fully functional condition. Its case has a little of the tolex peeling on it though and the cover is gone. Im still wondering what year it is…lol. Whats your price?
Sirs:i’m looking for the two back covers for the Silvertone 1300 amp.Best regards…Sergio NUZZI(ITALIA)

My friend has a Silvertone 1457 with an amp in the case and asked me to search the net for info on it. Both look like they’re in mint shape. Can anyone tell us anything about it?

I recently sold one in mint (like new) condition. I sold it for $125.00. Had it for ten years and tried to get more for it through ebay and numerous other worldwide classifieds with no one offering more than $85.00 to $100.00 finally got rid of it. I had $75.00 invested and thought i’d never get anything out of it. if I had been a collector i might have kept it but collectors pay even less than just folks who want an old memory.

Hi thar!
I have a Palm Beach Model Guitar, and I understand that it dates back to the mid 40’s.
My Serial Number is 4591H928, so I’m thinking that these were made for mass distribution in Canada by Sears, Eatons, or the Bay.
If you find anything more about these, I’d love to know.
Regards!
Bert.

I have one just like that. As stated above, yes, made for Sears and sold in their catalog. It is a Harmony Supertone Parlor Guitar. A similar guitar sold in the 1940 Sears catalog for $6.95
I got in touch with the current Harmony company and got help in dating it. Look for a red oval stamp on inside back with three digits inside: a Letter S or F (spring or Fall) and two numbers giving the year. Mine is S40 or Spring of 1940. Look carefully, as it may be faint.
Mine also has a very high action so I think you may be right that it was designed as a slide guitar.
It has survived quite well and has decent tone for a parlor guitar. All solid wood. Birch back and sides. Unsure about the front, but it has a very wide grain pattern.
You can catch glimpses of it being played in my YouTube video: https://youtu.be/dnKRwGbkbOs
Serial number on mine is 2461 H1 075. How can you tell what year this guitar was made?
I have one of these, got it for $5 at value village in Pembroke, ON
It’s from 1934. It’s a small guitar . has green palm trees painted on it and red birds flying across it with varnished wood under that. When I bought this I managed to find another one for sale on ebay for around $500cdn, I saw another that belonged to a guys grandfather he said it was 1934 model. I believe it may be a slide guitar as strings are high off fret board.
Just had mine brought back to life. My Dad bought it new by mail order in the mid 1940’s and it was always around the house while I grew up. I think the model is Supertone, and they were built by Harmony/Stella for Sears. Best guess about the materials are birch back and sides with a maple top. What the luthier found amazing is that it hadn’t disintegrated over the years. The neck could still stand a reset but it sounds and plays great, just nice to have an old familiar sound around the house again. Do a search for Supertone palm beach guitar and you might still find one that Elderly Music had for sale a while back.
Cheers,
-Eli.
Im a little late for this i see, but i also have a palm beach guitar. I got it when my grandfather passed away. Its an old black wooden guitar and has palm beach written on it with a picture of a hawaiian beach/trees/hula girl
I cant find any picture of any guitar like it online.
Being in canada, the sears comment makes some sense though i guess
