I have a Les paul copy as well , I’m not sure of th age on it but it does seem to be a prety good guitart do you have any information on it or the company?? I’ve been looking for quite a while but allI seem to have found was this site and a nother one that like this where people were asking the same questions as over here,"who is global ??, when were these guitars made ect"
I recently bought a global Les Paul Copy. From what I can gather, these guitars were sold in the sears catalog, I believe in the late 70’s. The guy I bought it from thought it was a Epiphone.
I have done some tune up on it, but it is still not perfect. It’s a beautiful guitar, but I don’t know about the sound. I may need to put replacement pickups in.
It’s been there a while and with all of the negativity surrounding these I’m sure you can pick it up for a song. It looks to be in great condition. The full-grain Italian leather strap alone is probably worth ~$30.
I am a seasoned guitarist and have many guitars, Gibson, Fenders, Epiphones and many more (well over 30). I just got a Global Les Paul copy for $150 plus tax in an auction. Pleasantly surprised at the quality and playability! It weighs 8.8 lbs. The volume and tone pots were a bit scratchy, but with a bit of spray silicone they cleaned up pretty good. The pick-ups sound like P-90’s. Feels better than my Gibson and sounds as good. It has a paper sticker on the back of the neck joint that says E-70. Made in Korea. It is a keeper would not sell it for twice what I paid. It came in a tobacco burst finish and was missing a screw in the pick guard, an easy fix for 50 cents at the hardware store. When playing pinch style harmonics they seem to jump out pretty loud for ZZ Top style licks. This axe is nice!
I have read alot about global ls guitars. I have had one since 1977 and I love it and have had the wiring redone and changed out the pickups, it plays great alot of folks have said there junk put I disagree atleast with the one i have it looks just like a gibson and if I were to cover the headstock you would think is one as well. My was purchased out of a JC Penny’s catalog. I also own around 20 electric guitars..Gibsons,Wasburns,BC Rich,Peavey,Yamaha and so on. They Were Made in Japan and in the late 70’s were made to specs as the gibson LP with the same tappered headstock but by the 80’s they didn’t want sued so they changed the tapered of the headstock and did not have the same feel as a gibson. still looking for more info..they were sold in JC Penny and also by Sears all different models.
I bought a tobacco burst Global Les Paul from a Sears catalog when I was a teenager in the seventies for $69.00. Didn’t know too much about guitars then but it was a beautiful thing to me. And my dad’s guitar player friends with real Gibsons loved it. Someone else must have loved it too because they broke into our house and stole it. Always wanted to find another. No luck yet.
: Anyone have any info on an Alvarez Model 5011 guitar? Hey there, I also have an Alvarez model 5011 guitar, but mine was made on Nov. 16, 1977. The guitar you’re asking about is an Alvarez – they made them unitl like 1980 or 1981. I am currently trying to find a small set screw for one of my tuning pegs ( the guy at the local music store lost one of mine). If anyone has a lead, or moreover, has one, please email me! I can’t play my guitar without that stupid little screw!
: Anyone have any info on an Alvarez Model 5011 guitar? Inside the sound hole, it says that it is a L.E.H. Guitar, Model 5011, Made in Korea. It looks just like the Alvarez classical guitars, but it has steel strings and was originally sold that way when purchased new in 1980. Any insights?
: ———————————————
: Sorry for the duplicate post, I just wanted the subject to read "Alvarez 5011" in case someone knows about that guitar and has not heard of L.E.H. Guitar. I guess they sold this under different names?
i own an alvarez 5011, it must be at least 25 years old
it is a nylon string classical guitar, made in japan. one of the best sounding guitars ive ever owned, great volume ,rosewood back and sides, spruce or ceder top, great guitar……be aware, if it is a classical guitar designed for lower tension nylon strings and has had steel strings put on it, the neck and tail peice can be seriously warped or ruined…. steel string guitars have a " truss " rod
a steel post that runs the whole neck of the guitar. you will be able to tell, if it has a plastic cover in between the strings on the head stock……… ilove mine and have also been searching for history
I also own an Alvarez 5011 classical guitar. I purchased it used for $30 in 1971. It has a beautiful tone and I enjoy it very much. My much more accomplished muscian friends give it very high marks. I would like to get more history – any info out there?

5011 model. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this model classical guitar that says it’s made in India. 1978 I believe. I just bought it and it looks well loved, butthe I know nothing else. AF8W
Anyone over heard of a L.E.H. Guitar? I recently acquired an acoustic guitar that has no name on it except for a sticker on the inside that says L.E.H. Guitar, Model 5011, Made in Korea. Anyone have any info on this guitar? I would greatly appreciate it.

After doing a little more research, it appears that this might be an Alvarez Model 5011 Classical Guitar… but it was originally sold with steel strings in 1980. Anyone have any info about this guitar, or have any insights?
I purchased a guitar but know nothing about it. It says Carlos in gold letters & the inside sticker says "A quality product of korea" & the model number is 249. Does anyone know anything about it?
Very interesting. I too have a CARERA R-SERIES bass that is my first bass. No other info is offered on teh bass other then "Carerea R-Series Electeric Guitars". Mine looks more like a fender knock-off then an Ibanez (as stated by the other poster), although the neck is nice and thin like an Ibanez. No visible trus rod; which is intereting. Are we perhaps the only folks with one of these things? Any chance I picked up one of you guys hand-me downs?
I will post a follow up if I come across any info. Please do the same.
: I am also the owner of a carera bass, and ill tell you now, go buy a peavey, due to there short necks and poor body design, most careras arent good for starting out on, all they are is a wannabe Ibanez, there are a few good 1s tho. if you run across 1 dont play anything wit it exept for metal, and flat-wound strings work the best for them since there necks are short, it gives em that mellow tone, if you have a brighter tone from something such as a d’addarios bright round wound or somthin the sounds gonna turn out nasty, oh yea i might as well tell you now, dont bring it in to a guitar shop you like to go to just sell it back to another pawn if u wanna sell it, but once you buy ur new bass, something highter qual. such as a gibson or ibanez, keep it for when u play slap, the small "closed in" frets help stregthen your fingers, if you have any questions just email me back, im not saying u have a bad bass im just saying its not extremely universal as far a playing goes, but please mail me back
: I got a Carera too and it is also my first bass. I was looking for a web site and I found this site.so where the hell do you find info at ??????????????????????????????? are these the only ones ??????????????????? NOT !!!!!!!
I, too, was searching the web for info on my Carera R-Series bass. It was also a pawn shop find and my first. Not much info out there on these instruments. So far, I’ve replaced the nut and the input jack is junk (replacing as we speak!) I’d love to find out more on this thing if any of you come across some.

i got a Carera JBC-32 R series electric bass from a pawn shop. can anyone tell me about the maker or the quality(it’s my first bass)? i cant find any sites where they sell them, only some ebay hits.
I own a Carera Jazz bass, model JBC-32, made in Korea, probably mid 1980s.
The scale length is 34″, I.e., long scale.
The nut width is approx. 1-7/16″.
The string height is low, approx. 3/32″ at the 12th fret. The frets show some wear, nevertheless there’s approx. 85% remaining.
My Carera is an excellent knock off of a 1970s Fender Jazz bass.
It’s a player grade instrument with lots of dings, scratches, and scuffs, especially on body.
The body is probably Alder. The neck probably maple. The fret board is rosewood.
My Carera plays fast, buzz free, accurately intonates, and the pickups sound awesome! Currently strung with round wound mediums.
I think my Carera Jazz bass could go head to head with any Fender, any year.

I too have a Hyosung Montaya guitar, my model number is F-15, but like yourself I have been unable to find out much information. All I know is that my mother purchased it in southern california for approx. $150 20+ years ago, I hope that gives you a little perspective on your guitar, I would be curious to know if you find out anything else. ~Elli
i have the 34c model. mine is a 3/4 size. it is the same model that public high school students were instructed on exactly 20 years ago in nyc. my mother contacted the dept of education to find a dealer that would sell us this model because that’s what i was using in school. thanks.

My step-dad has a motaya acoustic guitar made in 1969. It has a 3 piece back on it with the middle piece being of a lighter wood than the pieces on the sides. This middle piece is triangle shaped. We are trying to find out what model it is but have had no luck with this. Does anyone have any information on what model it could be. The guitar resembles the montaya that is currently on sale on ebay. The difference is that the back on the one on ebay is one color of wood.
I have a wesley PB33 electric bass and know a lot about wesley acoustic basses and can recommend you getting one\nvalue for money is always a good thing !!
I just purchased an Old Kraftsman archtop electric with the two "Kelvinator" style pickups. Looking for a pickguard to fit if anybody has one they want to sell – or maybe a similar guitar that is damaged and needs to be repaired.
Old Kraftsman Guitars were the "house" guitar of the Speigel catalog company. They produced acoustics, thinlines, acoustic electrics and solid bodies. They were made in Chicago between the 1930s and 1960s mostly by Kay and Gibson. Good luck, Cool Guitar.
I have most recently purchased an Old Kraftsman Acustic Gutiar, with F holes; but I do not know its age, nor anything else about the Old Kraftsman models. Can anyone provide any information on these guitars? I really like mine, and it actually keeps a tune quite well on a daily basis.
I also have an Old Kraftsman arch top (Hallow body Les Paul copy) electric with the F- holes. I was told buy a retailer that this model was made back in the late 50’s
and carried an approx. value of $400.00

i own two old kraftsman 6 string guitars.
one is an archtop hallow boddy electric with f holes that belonged to my grandfather. the other is a thin solid boddy electric that was found in an old house and given to me by a friend. these are the only old kraftsman guitars that i have ever seen. ihave no idea how old they are.
I have an Old Kraftsman acoustic that I inherited from the family. It has a number in the inside body: L1416 6858 P4. I am interested in finding out some info on it. I’ve cleaned it up with new strings and it sounds pretty doggone good for a old guitar. I appreciate any info you guys can give me about it. Thanks.

: Hey Phil,
: I picked one up at a garage sale a while back. It needed work but after some minor tuneup work it sounds and plays great. It’s a real solid feeling guitar that just needs to be broken in. Not sure what it’s worth but I’m willing to bet it worth more than what I paid for it! It’s a cherry sunburst. Any ideas on value or how to ascertain it?

The 2 x pickups are very old large and square with scews under each string, but behind each screw there is hole (sound hole) and in front of the screw there are 2 x elongated holes. They look asif it has cloth underneath. (similar to what the front of a speaker looks like). There is a sticker on the headstock that says "AMENA" and Model 1827.\nHas anyone out there got any clues\nCheers Tony

Budget guitars, mostly unplayable but occasionally came up with a good one. They also made solid body elctrics and basses. I had an SG copy when I was about 13. Loked good, soounded bloody awful Still, I regret selling it. K were made in Same Korean factory that made Columbus (I think). I have Hummingbird copy that I still play occasionally, despite the fact I have other, better and much more expensive instruments e.g Gibson & Martin. Play it before you buy it and don’t pay much – but you maybe lucky and get an ok one

I am looking for more info too I bought an electric from my fiend jamie the name at the top of the neck is jaguar but every time I look it up online the fender jag comes up and I didnt get a fender for eighty bucks
I got some more info though I dont know how helpful it is when I brung the guitar into a shop to get it fixed the guy said it was probably made in the late 60’s and also the more I look at the neck of the guitar it kind of looks like it says jaquar with a Q rather than jaguar but I could be wrong

Yea man, I saw a stunning blue jaguar electric at a guitar center in Knoxville last year and I’ve been looking for some info about their guitars and I can’t find anything either. If anyone has info, email me as well!
I have a red electric guitar from jaguar with a jackson single coil pickup and its a strat imitation. Ditto about the information (or the lack thereof) about jaguar guitar on the net though. would be cool to get an official site or something, I’d definitely buy another one if I found it.

This is probably an old thread, but as I
Have read above we all have the same problem.
We all own a Jaguar or two in my case.Similar
Issues. I was unable to sweep the net for any info.
They were Korean made and knock -offs of
The fender strat style / Tele style. I too
Have had neck issues and Trem issues. They were
A run of guitars from as far back as 87 till maybe
1990 or shortly after. I am considering buying an acoustic
Electric model yet Iam holding off because
Don’t know what they sound like or if they are
Well built. I’ve owned the electric guitars for
A few years and I love how the play
And sound. Just not too sure about an acoustic.
Anyone own an acoustic jaguar?
That can give me some input or insight?
The Jaguar was made by Dillion guitars
I had one about 20 years ago. wish I never got rid of it.
Dillion discontinued them. You can check it out on the link below.
I have a acoustic-electric red jaguar serial #JWA200E. My brother had it for over 20 years, it was always kept in a case and hardly used. It was made in Korea. Would someone have any information about this guitar ? What year was it made ? It has a beautiful sound and looks like new. Thank you
Mine is a White electric with a Floyd Rose Whammy. I bought it new in 1987, but it was old stock at the store I bought it from. It has a great sound , and there is no selling mine.
i bought my Jag in 2002, the serial no is J-60CE and i can’t find any info on it either. its electric acoustic as well, has an acoustic body, not sleek or slim like electric at all and has elegantly carved out floral pattern for its sound hole… its a beaut, i love it, plays and sounds really brilliantly. info and value would be nice to know.

I’ve never heard of Jag but your description and model number are an exact match to my Dillion 12 string. Maybe start checkin out Dillion and see what u find. They are a beautiful guitar.
I have a J-12 Acoustic Electric, Jaguar Guitar 1981 Korea. It is small full neck looks like a mini Ovation Plays great sounds great. Very well made guitar. Bought at a flee market & was wondering what it is worth. Hard to find any info on the guitar.
Hi just was looking this up myself, I bought mine in 1981, new for 599.00, I love it! great sound, and yes I”m a small handed person, so nice small neck. It has served well, is getting to be at the place of needing a bit of tender care, but I still really enjoy it!
: : Can anyone give me any info. on a Trump TS27.
: Yes mr hester I believe the guitar you have is japanese beattlewood a variety of philipine mahoghanies around the body and by the unique markings of (knife edges) It’s ghinzou shavings render it from remarkably similar to the 2nd meng dynasty of subjugated swahili’s craftman living around or near the gouge districts nearest the local walmart I would say it was exactly that indeed in as much as i would like to admit i own the self-same guitar THANKS
: : Can anyone give me any info. on a Trump TS27. I have a 6 string trump guitar but I’m not sure if it’s TS27? Is this considered a good guitar? what is a guitar like this worth. THANKS
I bought a Trump jazz guitar for $80 a couple of days ago at a Goodwill store here in Colorado Springs. I can’t tell anything externally about its model number, just that it was made in Japan. It seems fairly old (at least ’60’s)from the style of knobs and pickups, etc. If I find out any more about Trump guitars I will email you again. The one I bought seems to be medium-low quality, but I will check around with more people. It plays fine by me. If it were in more perfect condition I would think it would be valuable just from being rare.
i have one now i got it at a garage sale for 15 dollars and it is apparently a vintage guitar. so thats all the info i have found:
: I have recently purchased a trump guitar & can find no info. at all. It’s cosmetics are great & has a nice sound. Looks to be a 60’s era!
:a friend of mine has just given me a trump 6 string acoustic guitar, needed some work, glued frame to re-secure hold. and have been polishing the frets and screws. I too was curious of its history, so if you have found any information on it, please email me at

I own 9 guitars from Martins, Fender, Hofner and all points in between. I recently bought a Wesley Californian and it is superb. It looks fantastic, it plays fantastic and it sounds fantastic. I bought it on ebay for £77.00!!!\nCheck out their website http://www.wesleyguitars.co.uk
I bought a wesley as my first guitar. So i don’t know a lot about guitars, but I can say build quality is good, it’s nice and solid feeling.\n\nIf you doubt these guitars, check out the ebayer’s feedback. Over 1500 feedback and ALL positive. Not even a neutral, let alone a negative. So I’d say that’s a pretty good indication of what these guitars are like.
I’ve just bought a seven string Wesley electric on ebay. I had never heard of these instruments before and have been unable to find any other info (which is why I’m on this website). I ‘ve been playing guitar for about 30 years and own 4 other instruments including a Strat and an Ibanez semi. I wanted a seven string but did’nt want to pay too much. I got the Wesley for £150 on Ebay and have had it for about 3 weeks nowand I have to say that I am absolutely delighted with it. It plays beautifully. I plan to change the pickups but apart from that I can’t fault it and plan to take it out on a gig sometime soon : Can anyone who professes to know a lot about guitars post a comment. These guitars look great for first-timers..are they really great, or just OK?
I have just recent bought a Jazz bass opy and have to say for £99 it is a stunner. The strings were a bit on the light side for my tastes but the finish is excellent (three colour sunburst) and I will be giving it a go at a gig in the next few weeks. Sounds good but for £99 it sounds brilliant. May replace the pickups sometime. Will probably replace the bridge sometime too, but i would if i had a fender!. Great.

: Can anybody tell me anything about Wesley guitars? I have bought a wesley 12 string guitar from ebay and I have to say its the sweetest sounding guitar I have played. The wood is very pale spruce i think a feels and plays really nice.

yes i have one two from guitarmogul vire ebay nice one cheep to

You say it’s the sweetest sounding guitar you’ve played… no disrespect at all, but have you ever played a really nice guitar?
I ask because I haven’t, and so I wouldn’t really know what I was looking (listening?) for. I can see on ebay that they LOOK fantastic, but don’t know if that’s enough. Mind you, I’ve played a couple of right pigs of guitars, and I guess if you’re saying it’s not like that then that’d be good enough.
Any comments from self-confessed guitar buffs would be a bonus!

I got me a Wesley 5 string bass for xmas – very good guitar considering the price (£220) – has a nice walnut finish on it (it’s a print, not actual walnut, but it still looks nice).
Just a few gripes about mine though:
I’ve just (as in 30 mins ago) snapped the nut – was just happily playing on it and ‘pop’ and broke just under the B string.
As I said above, the finish is just a print, covered in some kind of laquer – and it’s started to come off (the laquer, not the print) – I’d advise people to consider re-laquering this model as the finish will be more durable, and last longer…it’ll also give it a nice shine (which it currently lacks, very dull, almost plastic looking).
Overall though it’s a sound bass…I’ve played many basses in the past (from Aria’s, to Fender’s, to Status) and I must say, this is the nicest bass I’ve ever played!
Hi ; I just bought some Wesley guitars through ebay
They are stunning …. thats the only word i can use ; play perfectly ; intination very good ; and very well made ..
I am over the moon !! I bought a hollow body les paul copy and i cant put it down !!!
Be happy tp answer any questions anyone has
I bought one of these guitars from eBay (a metallic red M06 model) and was quite pleased with it. I was actually told (by John Rackman, the dealer you’re all talking about) that these guitars are made by a factory in Indonesia.
At the time I bought mine they were going under the name Prince, and only later did it become Wesley.
A word to the wise – when I bought mine it seems the factory were not putting in the grounding wire from the electronics to the trem system/bridge. So at first mine was very noisy, but I added the wire myself (which did involve drilling a hole) and now it’s fine.
I spoke to John about this and he agreed it was a problem, and that he was going to ask the factory to rectify this problem, so for all I know the current Wesley’s might be just fine.
: Have anyone ever heard of Wesley guitars (Korean origin)?
Yeah, i heard of em. I saw then on eBaY and wanted one, but im in the UK and couldnt be bothered with the hassle to import it. Metallic red it was, really neat!!

Hi,
Yes, I bought a guitar from wesley in UK it was total rubbish. Later I found another online guitar shop based in London UK called HasGuitar. I purchased one acoustic guitar and a electric guitar Les Paul gibson style. They are the best guitars I have ever played from http://www.HasGuitar.com if you want to buy guitar make sure you try them.
: : Have anyone ever heard of Wesley guitars (Korean origin)? You can now buy them on EBAY U.K. really great prices.Exotic woods, top quality hardware, and subperb craftsmanship. The prices are UN BELIEVABLE!!!!Check ’em out.Theyres an emerald green "Wesleycaster"thats really nice on there, abssolutley gorgeous!!Just go to eBay U.K. and put wesley guitars in search, theyre all there.-Cheers,Rick

To the last guy,
I bought my Wesley semi on UK E bay for £185.00 from the Guitarmogul, I have been playing for 22 yrs and I have been looking for a decent semi for 2 years, I have tried gibsons , epiphones and thought they were crap, and then I took a chance on E bay and bid for this one, never thinking I would get it for less than £200.00, I am so pleased it plays fantastic, I thought my Ibanez that I have been gigging for 20 years was good, but this makes my playing so easy. If you fancy go for it, I would be very suprised if you are dissapointed.
Hi, Im based in the UK too. I spoke to the guy who deals in them on EBAY . Apparently they are his ‘OWN’ brand which he sources from Korea. He is in the throws of deciding which models to import to the UK depending on popularity.
The specs are really good for the price- even though they look a little ‘Tanglewood’ esque. Check out the thinline 335 copy. It has the same pickups and bigsby copy I have on an Elliot Easton GRETSCH (Korean made) and believe me GRETSCH are a lot more expensive, even for the electromatic cheaper models.
If ANYONE of you knows a shop where they have seen one let me know-as im a little reluctant to bid for something Ive never tried in a UK shop first-
anyone have any thoughts or comments let me know before I write silly cheques out.!
I got a Wesley M06 off ebay after a friend of mine got one. However, his was an ex review model and had been given a full setup – and it plays like a dream. I ordered myself one, and it is an absolute steal for the price, although the factory set-up is not brilliant (im putting it in for a proper one soon). Thoroughly recommended!
I am the friend mike speaks of, and my model does indeed play perfectly. I have fitted a D-tuna (www.d-tuna.com) to it which is the most useful thing to come along in a long time (for a drop d junkie like myself anyway). However having to stabilise the bridge now means i can no longer pull the trem up – but who the hell cares, i love it and it was cheap.
hiya, just found a UK dealer for these beautiful (and bizarrely INEXPENSIVE guitars)… check out http://www.guitarmogul.co.uk... he has just about every model in stock.

Old Kraftsman was produced by Kay for the Mongomery-Wards catalogue business.
Old Kraftsman electric guitars were built by Kay for Speigel and were sold through catalogs. According to Michael Wright of Vintage Guitars, some models were apparently made by Gibson.

with the number 1436 on the inside looks good, about when it was made, and by who I don’t know, someone gave it to me in Forest City North Carolia.:I like to find out due to if it’s worth anything I might just hold on to it.Hollo body looks like strat with ovle back made of wood adjustable string height.
The Old Kraftsman label was a house brand for the Spiegel mail-order catalog company. Like Sears and Roebucks’ Silvertones and Montgomery Ward’s Sherwoods, these guitars were manufactured by other companies and branded with Spiegel’s trade moniker. Spiegel purchased most of its stringed instruments from Chicago manufacturer Kay, and for a short time in the ’30s from the Gibson company. The date of purchase, the squared-off shoulders of the upper bout, the shape and location of the f-holes, and the peghead contour suggest that this very nice entry-level archtop was made by the Kay company. While these guitars are not highly collectible, many of them are good players’ instruments, and the street value ranges from $250 to $500.
Wow! Thanks for the information! I just posted my first message here, stating that I knew nothing about the Old Kraftsman I recently purchased; going on to say how much I like it. And then I asked if anyone could provide any information on them. Well, you had already provided just what I was looking for; I simply didn’t look far enough before placing my message. Thanks again!
i purchased an old kraftsman guitar from a budy for 10 dollars, i figured it was a good deal because of the
retro style and its old style looks. i dig them to the max, and if any of you have a pic of your’s send it to me at [email protected]
At one time I owned an Old Kraftsman 6-string guitar, Old Kraftsman mandolin, and I still own an Old Kraftsman acoustic/electric bass guitar. Not sure about age/history/value of any of these intruments. I have used the bass in the recording studio, and the engineer tried to trade me his brand new Peavey for it. NO DEAL. I love the mellow sound of the bass. Would love more information if anyone has any.
I have an OLD KRAFTSMAN L 9229 ACOUSTIC 6 STRING and an archtop SILVERTONE ACOUSTIC 6 STRING- N15.
They are both in good condition does anyone know their value or where they were made etc. Or…a web site that might have info like this. Please email your respoinse to the email listed.
Thanks

I HAVE AN OLD KRAFTSMAN ACOUSTIC WITH THE F HOLES IN THE BODY THAT I BOUGHT ABOUT 13 – 14 YEARS OFF AN OLD GUY WHO LIVED IN THE COUNTRY. I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT BUT LOVE IT. ITS NECK IS KINDOF V SHAPED AND HAS WHAT LOOKS LIKE THE ORIGNAL GROVER KEYS AND GROVER TAILPIECE. ON THE BACK OF THE HEAD OF THE NECK IT SAYS 241. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE SERIAL NO. i WISH I COULD FIND OUT MORE ABOUT IT.I WISH I NEW ITS AGE.I HAVENT SEEN ONE LIKE.
I also have an Old kraftsman acoustic with f-holes, blonde, has holes for knobs, as someone modified it for a pickup, I currently have a bridge piezo on it, and I had to make a pickguard for it. She plays well, sounds well, she projects with enough punch for bluegrass! I have taken her to Africa and Switzerland, as well as all over the American West. Some of the Ol’ Kraftsmans I have seen are just great! An underated classic of the 20th Century! I would love to figure out how old she is and whether or not she is by Kay or Gibson. Any help on this would be welcome.
I have an old kraftsmans that I put the neck back on and revarnished and put new keys on and installed kramer pickups in the oroginal pickup hole. I cut a hole near the now adjustable bridge and installed a kramer picup.
It has been bragged on for the blues sound.

hello,i have located an old kraftsman flat top guitar.
my daughter-in-law’s grandfather has it. he said he bought it in greensboro,N.C.in 1960 for 125.00. its in perfect condition w/case,
also 1960,very good cond. all i have been able to find out is,
they were made for spiegle catalog co.some in the 1930’s were made by gibson, later by other makers inc. kay.it doesn’t look like it’s been played much at all. any info anyone has will be greatly appreaciated, thanks, Jim Lewis, North Carolina.
I paid about $300 for the guitar in very good to excellent condition. I mention that because a lot of posts are concerned with the value of Old Craftsman guitars. So now to my question, does anyone know if I can lower the action on the neck? It’s about.50mm at the nut and about 3.25mm at the 19th fret. My Strat by comparison 2.00 mm along the whole length of the neck. Any ideas?
So I found and old Old Kraftsman six string acoustic. It’s clearly very old and has a serial number of 47..it has a scrolled head stock like a violin. I can’t seem to find any other pictures out there of any thing close to the same as this. I’m wondering if anyone can help me date it and tell me what it might be worth and if I should restore it leave it alone. I know sometimes these things can be worth more with all the original finish or lack there of and and the wear.
Hello,.I found a a guitar in an antique store. The best I can tell is it may be an Old Kraftsman L6437. I t was re- finished at some point in the past with a low grit paper and has Sanding marks but no original markings other than the number in the F-holes. The fret markers are trotoise she’ll dots it is blonde body, neck and fret board. Is there a way to tell for sure make, model, and year?
Hello, The other day I purchased an acoustic “Old Kraftsman” archtop parlor guitar for $150.00. I know that these guitars were made by various, (Kay, Gibson), manufacturers for catalog companies like Sears & Robuck, Speigle, & Montgomery Ward from like 1930to about 1968. It is purely an acoustic/6-string, having 15-19 frets. The color is a very deep, rich mahogany brown. Inside the body, seen via the scrollwork, are the stamped numbers L2282 on the right side looking into the scrollwork, and N-3 on the left side looking into the scrollwork. The measurements are as follows: L= 43″/W=16″/ D=6″. Can anyone help me with the age or anything else having to do with this great guitar? I do not care about $worth because it is too nice to sell. Anything to do with its history would be greatly appreciated. Thanks~

I had a guitar given to me by a firend at church it is about \n36in long or more, it is an acoustic with sun burst type finish\nwith the words global wrapped around the globe itis made in korea by \nglobal musical instrument co ltd i would like to know if is worth anything and any other interesting info
\nMy son was given an old Bass during a holiday in France this year. It looks like a copy Fender Jazz Bass shortscale, sunburst finish. Stuck on label on back of head saying ‘Made in Korea’ and another on the plate for the screws holding the neck to the body saying ‘pB-2’.\nIt needs work and the truss rod needs adjustment to get the neck straight and the action playable on all frets, but it is well enough made for a cheap guitar. Body is ply, but good veneer and good sunburst finish. Any info welcome.
I have a Mardan Model 72 DS, it was made in Korea for C.G Conn ltd. I bought it back in the 70’s after I got home from the service and to this day I still have it and play it . one of the best guitars I have owned so far but to find a new one now days, won’t happen. I do not know this for sure but was told they went out of business in the late 80’s . Sorry I don’t have anymore info. for you but it’s hard to fine anything on these guitars.
Have a great day

I’m also looking into them. They look very neat. They are soild and have a set neck which is more than can be said for the Epiphone ones that were made before. If I find anything I’ll let you know. If you found anything more please let me know also. Thanks.

I just recently bought an Agile guitar from rondomusic.com cause I saw some of them up on ebay and I got curious. I bought the most expensive one on the website which was only $300 (it’s the 2800 DLX Les Paul model) and all I got to say is that this thing is awesome. Their definitely better than any attempt that Epiphone makes at doing a LP, and the only thing that would keep me from saying that their not as good as the Gibsons is that the Gibsons have some really nice humbuckers.
Pickups are relative to what style you’re playing. For me (rock n roll style of playing), the alnico VII’s in the 2800 match my playing style perfectly and I wouldn’t want V’s or anything other than what I got or ceramic magnets.
The TW- 400 is a current model but may have been made in a different factory to the model you have. It retails in Ireland for €215 check out http://www.muzonet.com/tanglewood/
Look for the solid top TW 28st
Tanglewwod have amazing guitars at €100 less than other brands. The EQ models sound like an acoustic not the sound of the pickup when put into a PA , try one and you will see what i mean

I have owned a 6 string Tanglewood TW 400 acoustic for approximately 20 years. Its been a great friend to me and I was wondering about the background to the Tanglewood company (ie is it still around??), an estimated value of my guitar for insurance pruposes (just like me it has a wee bit of cosmetic wear and tear!!).

The action is wonderfully low.The tone is bright ,loud and warm. And it plays better than my j-45. The price is right too. Got this great deal in 1989.

It hasn’t got the sound of a Dreadnaught, though the body is pretty large… but the action on this axe is second to none! It plays as well as any of my electrics.
I have two electric and one semi hollow they all play and sound awesome . I keep looking for more . Had one acoustic that was beat up I had to lay it to rest no help for the thing.
Brazos guitars are a “house” brand.
A US salesman for Tōkai had his favorite guitars replicated
with the Brazos imprint in the very early 80s.
Several of his custom guitars had vulgar names on the headstock.
Notice the reversed “Fender” acoustic headstock. http://www.moseleyviolins.co.uk/images/Fretted/Guitars/Fender%20F210LH/CS_MH_Fender_F210LH_HS.jpg
All guitars were manufactured in Japan.
I bought a mahogany BA78 in Illinois pawn shop 15 years ago. Tobacco and brass!! Hit an open E chord and it’s been my #1 ever since. I have many Gibsons, a Taylor 510CE, Guilds and all kinds of other stuff, but the Brazos is still # 1. So last year I found another in maple. So I have a semi matched pair. Absolutely the tops of the Korean movement.
I’ve had three and still have one
The first two were twins (electric),
But one had a beautiful dark tobacco
Sunburst, and the other was a blonde
They sounded great and played just as
good as they looked. I cannot remember
Why I got rid of them.
I also still have a classical thaRt I
Absolutely love, and that I play everyday
I might add that this is the first classical
I’ve ever owned and I just cannot get enough
Of this guitar.
The funny thing is, my buddy has a music
store and about 20 years ago I offered to
buy this guitar from him, but he said that
He had already promised it to his wife.
Well she said that if she ever sold the guitar
That she would sell it to me. Well she did,
But she made me wait about 15 years.
But I love this guitar dearly and I play it
Everyday.
I googled the name and serial # but nothing
Came up.
I as well would appreciate any info on?
ANY info on these guitars would be appreciated. I have one, an archtop jazz guitar, and it is a VERY nice guitar. Were these made just in Texas, as everybody seems to have come into theirs in or around Texas (as did I).
PLEASE, any information would be much appreciated.

I have a Brazos acoustic flattop which I purchased in the early 80’s from a music store in DeBary Fl. I have not been able to find out anything about them. It is a model BA78.
If you have come across any info I would like to hear from you.
i have a brazos SG-style electic that i adore.i bought it
at a pawn shop for 160 bucks.it came with a custom made
wooden case.ihave seen another guy on the net with a strat-
style electric.apparently they made a lot more acoustics.
there is a river and a county named brazos in texas so i
think you are right about them being made there, contact me.
I have a brazos acoustic also. I am not sure if it is worth a damn though, i found it in my sisters room today and its all dusty with old strings on it. I am going to sell it to my buddy just cause he hasn’t anything to play on and kind of needs a starter guitar. If anyone knows more about them that would be sweet. I don’t want to sell a guitar that i might regret selling!

I am doing some research on my Brazos mod #202. Pretty thin out there. I bought mine new in 1982 and have always considered it pretty mediocre. However, made in Japan with rosewood and spruce beats the knickers off anything you can get today made in China.

I also have a Brazos BA78 acoustic flattop. I have had it since the early 80’s. Bought it brand new from a music store in DeBary Fl. It has many hundreds of hours on it, been knocked around all this time (no case ever) and it still has virtually no scratches or damage. It plays as good as any instrument I have ever played. I really like it. But…….I can not find out anything about it.

I ALSO HAVE A BRAZOS ELECTRIC SHAPED LIKE AN SG WITH
A LES PAUL TYPE NECK AND HEAD STOCK.I T APPEARS TO BE
MADE OF 5 DIFFERENT KINDS OF WOOD,INCLUDING A CORK(?)
CENTERSTRIPE.THE NECK IS DOUBLE TRIMMED AND THE HEAD STOCK
HAS A "B" AND BRAZOS INLAID IN ABALONE.WOULD LOVE TO GET INFO ON THIS THING.
I recently got a Brazos guitars electric off of Ebay for cheap and did some serious web searching. Nothing. The underside of the tuners say "China" on them, and the guitar has that look to it, but all in all though, it’s a pretty cool cheapo guitar. Pickups suck, but that can be changed.
: I own a gorgeous Brazos 5-string banjo. It says "custom made" on it. 2 different colors of wood on the back of the fretboard, mother of pearl inlays all over, and an incredible sunburst finish on the back of the resonator. It is also quite heavy, a good indication of a quality banjo. I have been trying to find out about this maker for over 2 years with no luck whatsoever. If anyone has any info, please email me at [email protected]
I also have a Brazos "Custom Made" 5 string banjo that is absolutely beautiful with all gold trim and hardware. It is very heavy, the 10" tone ring is 11/16" thick and bound, the resonator is a gorgeous birds eye sunburst, etc. Quality wise, it is as nice as any Ome or Gibson I have seen up to about the $2500 range.
I bought mine at a pawn shop in Lander WY in 1994 and was told it was made in Japan. It amazes me that I have not been able to find out anything about who or where these great instruments were made. If anyone does find out more about them, please let me know or at least post a link.

I bought a Brazos in aa pawn shop in Illinois about 5 years ago. All solid wood acoustic with brass nut and bridge piece. It is the loudest acoustic I have ever heard and, next to my old Gibson J-50, is my favorite. It’s a real gem
I have had a Brazos classical guitar since 1983. I believe that they were Japanese made. Mine has been an excellent guitar of the finest quality. I bought it in Odessa Texas, the retail price at the time was $1150.00 with a really nice case. Other than one more in the music store at the time, I have never seen or heard of another Brazos guitar.
my brazos acoustic has been a favorite for 20 years. sounds great, has brass bridge and nut. has been on a west coast tour with a dean markeley pickup in a rock ska band. started to come unglued in the 90’s. a little glue and a lot of rope pulled it back together. it’s got big frets, a great neck and a warm sound. bought in 1984, paid $200. one of my better investments

Yes, I have a Brazos, Electric/Acoustic, model #266E, I bought about 17 years ago in Rockwall, TX. It is a beatiful guitar, superb craftmanship and the soud is
very good. I am not a professional musican but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Hi,
I’ve got one of the blond acoustics with the brass hardware. Like seemingly everyone I’ve ever heard of (which isn’t many), I also bought mine new at a pawn shop for around $200.00 about 13 years ago.
I’ve had a number of high-end acoustics since (they come and they go), but I will never part with my low-buck Brazos. It’s kept in my living room and I call it my "couch guitar". What a beautiful guitar with a great, bright sound!

Review on Tanglewood TW500 Acoust/Elec Custom Handmade in Korea
Ladyteacher
I would like to know something about the guitar I just bought used in a guitar store. I am a beginning student. It is a Tanglewood TW 500 Acoustic/Elec, Custom Handmade in Korea, It’s color is a Vanilla Cream Colored Pearl with inlaid abalone surrounding outside trim and also surrounding the center hole, and large Abalone T and an Abalone Design that are near the tuning twist/keys. It has an Ibanez B-Band Tuner & takes 2 different kinds of plugs, and seller/repair guy said it’s body is made with maple. I paid 350,000 KRW, roughly about $335.77 and it included a new gig bag. Did notice a small crack on the bottom of the guitar once I got it home, but the neck seems fine. He said it is a mid-range as opposed to a beginner level guitar, and it seems to have a nice tone. i have a tanglewood starfire gold in antique sunburst, which i am selling, it is in good condition, only ever having bedroom use. You could take the neck of it or just replace yours with this one, it does haowever need the jack input plastic plate replacing, but that is the only problem with the guitar.
It is about two years old, but has been replaced by an SG so i no longer can justify keeping it.

Hi,\n I own a lovely elctro-acoustic guitar. I plays and looks terrific\n but I have never heard of it. I is a Santa Ana, it is made in Korea and has a serial number SR 383 – Can anyone help ?\n Regards\n Mike
I have a Blue Santa Ana acoustic guitar which I bought in Newcastle around 8 years ago – it was only £179 and it is a great guitar. I have been a pro guitarist for several decades now and have a very nice collection of far more expensive guitars but my Santa Ana looks and sounds great and if I could find another one I would probably buy it. I can’t find anything about them either – I guess we both just got very lucky and are both members of a very small club 🙂 This is a video of me using my Santa Ana a month or so ago on Sky TV.

Does anybody know anything about Global? this appears to be a early to mid 70s probably would get sued today as it is a pretty good copy
It’s up for $260 and the link is here: https://denver.craigslist.org/msg/d/denver-global-lp-90-vintage-les-paul/7031582405.html
We have a 70’s era Global Les Paul Tobacco burst in our guitar shop, 200 bucks if your interested. http://www.tommysguitars.com, in Chicago.

AF8W
What is this classical guitar worth? Mine was made 7/22/78, serial #39980 and model #5011.

This popular thread has been given its own page : Carera bass?
Very interesting. I too have a CARERA R-SERIES bass that is my first bass. No other info is offered on teh bass other then "Carerea R-Series Electeric Guitars". Mine looks more like a fender knock-off then an Ibanez (as stated by the other poster), although the neck is nice and thin like an Ibanez. No visible trus rod; which is intereting. Are we perhaps the only folks with one of these things? Any chance I picked up one of you guys hand-me downs?
I will post a follow up if I come across any info. Please do the same.
i just made a trade for one of these. is yours a 3/4 neck too? it plays and sounds good though
: Very interesting. I too have a CARERA R-SERIES bass that is my first bass. ALSO No other info is offered on this,??? also thanks
.
: I am also the owner of a carera bass, and ill tell you now, go buy a peavey, due to there short necks and poor body design, most careras arent good for starting out on, all they are is a wannabe Ibanez, there are a few good 1s tho. if you run across 1 dont play anything wit it exept for metal, and flat-wound strings work the best for them since there necks are short, it gives em that mellow tone, if you have a brighter tone from something such as a d’addarios bright round wound or somthin the sounds gonna turn out nasty, oh yea i might as well tell you now, dont bring it in to a guitar shop you like to go to just sell it back to another pawn if u wanna sell it, but once you buy ur new bass, something highter qual. such as a gibson or ibanez, keep it for when u play slap, the small "closed in" frets help stregthen your fingers, if you have any questions just email me back, im not saying u have a bad bass im just saying its not extremely universal as far a playing goes, but please mail me back
I got a Carera too and it is also my fist bass. I was looking for a web site on google when I found this site.

Here’s some info on Old Kraftsman. Cut and paste it into your browser:

Thanks.

Hi All, I have an Electric guitar, old, similar to a Gibson/Epiphone GS body but with a Strat style neck, with a 1 piece bar with 6 tuning pegs on it. The 2 x pickups are very old large and square with scews under each string, but behind each screw there is hole (sound hole) and in front of the screw there are 2 x elongated holes. They look asif it has cloth underneath. (similar to what the front of a speaker looks like). There is a sticker on the headstock that says "AMENA" and Model 1827.\nHas anyone out there got any clues\nCheers Tony

hey brother its made in korea and its a copy 60’s-70’s vintage
saw a nice guitar in thrift store. 6 string steel acoustic. only identifying mark was a stylized "K" on the neck and a label that said "model k410, made in Korea"\nany one know the maker? the stylized k looks kind of like a seagull with a line through it. it could have been model k415 or k416, my memory of it isn’t that clear. i can’t find anything about it on the web. thanks

Play it before you buy it and don’t pay much – but you maybe lucky and get an ok one

it also has 2 seagulls on the brown plastic pickguard and that k on the head of the neck could be an A turned 90 degrees counter-clockwise. it’s just a stick on label.

Thank you
i just by a old jaguar guitar and i like to no the price and the year??? it was made in korea. thank you
Mine is a White electric with a Floyd Rose Whammy. I bought it new in 1987, but it was old stock at the store I bought it from. It has a great sound , and there is no selling mine.
hi there
i bought my Jag in 2002, the serial no is J-60CE and i can’t find any info on it either. its electric acoustic as well, has an acoustic body, not sleek or slim like electric at all and has elegantly carved out floral pattern for its sound hole… its a beaut, i love it, plays and sounds really brilliantly. info and value would be nice to know.
cheers.

I too have a Trump Guitar. It is a very good looking guitar, but I cannot find anything out about it. Did you get any responses?
I bought a Trump jazz guitar for $80 a couple of days ago at a Goodwill store here in Colorado Springs. I can’t tell anything externally about its model number, just that it was made in Japan. It seems fairly old (at least ’60’s)from the style of knobs and pickups, etc. If I find out any more about Trump guitars I will email you again. The one I bought seems to be medium-low quality, but I will check around with more people. It plays fine by me. If it were in more perfect condition I would think it would be valuable just from being rare.
I have recently purchased a trump guitar & can find no info. at all. It’s cosmetics are great & has a nice sound. Looks to be a 60’s era!

Have anyone ever heard of Wesley guitars (Korean origin)?
Can anyone who professes to know a lot about guitars post a comment. These guitars look great for first-timers..are they really great, or just OK?
Great.

Be happy tp answer any questions anyone has
Can u help me on any info mation on the wesley bass, Pro Series B3504, cheers

What? import, import what? the primary outlet for these guitars is based in the uk goto http://www.guitarmogul.co.uk or http://www.wesleyguitars.co.uk
Hi,
Yes, I bought a guitar from wesley in UK it was total rubbish.

E
hiya, just found a UK dealer for these beautiful (and bizarrely INEXPENSIVE guitars)… check out http://www.guitarmogul.co.uk... he has just about every model in stock.

Old Kraftsman was produced by Kay for the Mongomery-Wards catalogue business.
Old Kraftsman electric guitars were built by Kay for Speigel and were sold through catalogs. According to Michael Wright of Vintage Guitars, some models were apparently made by Gibson.

: hello,i have located an old kraftsman round body with
with the number 1436 on the inside looks good, about when it was made, and by who I don’t know, someone gave it to me in Forest City North Carolia.:I like to find out due to if it’s worth anything I might just hold on to it.Hollo body looks like strat with ovle back made of wood adjustable string height.

Thanks~
I have an oldkraftsman Six string acoustic single F-hole 3 humbuckers I think 3 pickups? for sure and the only numbers were on the pick ups? I had Elkhart school of music a well it is an American made classic?ps came back to gibson lespaul? and the ar not worth muych until you learn to play?
can any one help with the value of this guitar. make maybe 1960..year…thanks dan
I resently bought an old kraftsman guitar archtop I think it’s from the late 50s or early 60s the closet thing to a number on it that I can find is P4 on the inside it’s an electric acoustic with the knobs in the pick guard I’ve been during some research and haven’t found anything like it if anyone has any info please let me know I would like to know what I have. Thanks.
I have a P4, L2125 6836 Old Kraftsman Guitar. Can you tell me anything about it? How do you identify the year it was made for example. Does it have any value?
i have an Old Kraftsman Acoustic/Electric Guitar it got a solid top with a rare tip on it…a glass lookin pick guard on it
I need to know the value of an Old Kraftsman slide guitar. It appears to be an Hawian modle.
It is yellow with flowers and a plam tree on the base.
I have oid kraftsman L9219. i was wondering the value

The action is wonderfully low.The tone is bright ,loud and warm. And it plays better than my j-45. The price is right too. Got this great deal in 1989.

: Has anyone ever heard of this brand Brazos, or know anything about them? I’ve got a beautiful black Brazos guitar, and it sounds great, I just don’t know anything about it.
I also have a Brazos accoustic… all wood, brass nut and bridge. Got it in upstate NY back around 84. It also came unglued a couple of times and needed a bunch of glue.

Came up.
I as well would appreciate any info on?
it’s a BA78m…..love it!!!!!!
I also bought the brazos with the brass nut and bridge in 83-86′..it’s the best guitar I’ve ever owned…such tone AND action
Hi,
I have a Brazos, dreadnought-style, acoustic guitar, model BA50.
I also own a Brazos acoustic md. BA-50.. will sell if anyone is really interested..
thanks,
JR
ANY info on these guitars would be appreciated. I have one, an archtop jazz guitar, and it is a VERY nice guitar. Were these made just in Texas, as everybody seems to have come into theirs in or around Texas (as did I).
PLEASE, any information would be much appreciated.

I have a Brazos acoustic flattop which I purchased in the early 80’s from a music store in DeBary Fl. I have not been able to find out anything about them. It is a model BA78.
If you have come across any info I would like to hear from you.
i have a brazos SG-style electic that i adore.i bought it
at a pawn shop for 160 bucks.it came with a custom made
wooden case.ihave seen another guy on the net with a strat-
style electric.apparently they made a lot more acoustics.

think you are right about them being made there, contact me.

Post some info if you have any.

Thanks. Kim Kasdorf

Greetings,
I know this is late but I have a beautiful Brazos Bass. As far as I know I’ve never seen another one. I would love to find a six string bass. I love my Brazos and I call it my 3rd arm. Feel free to write back at my e-mail address to talk some more.

Does anyone know the approximate weight of the Tanglewood starfire TSE-501, Thankyou.
i have a tanglewood starfire gold in antique sunburst, which i am selling, it is in good condition, only ever having bedroom use. You could take the neck of it or just replace yours with this one, it does haowever need the jack input plastic plate replacing, but that is the only problem with the guitar.
It is about two years old, but has been replaced by an SG so i no longer can justify keeping it.
if anyone is interested then email me an offer @ [email protected]

Hi,\n I own a lovely elctro-acoustic guitar. I plays and looks terrific\n but I have never heard of it. I is a Santa Ana, it is made in Korea and has a serial number SR 383 – Can anyone help ?\n Regards\n Mike
Hi Mike
I have a Blue Santa Ana acoustic guitar which I bought in Newcastle around 8 years ago – it was only £179 and it is a great guitar. I have been a pro guitarist for several decades now and have a very nice collection of far more expensive guitars but my Santa Ana looks and sounds great and if I could find another one I would probably buy it. I can’t find anything about them either – I guess we both just got very lucky and are both members of a very small club 🙂 This is a video of me using my Santa Ana a month or so ago on Sky TV.
all the best
