The company describes this guitar as a premium model, equipped with upgraded name-brand hardware from the neck, to the bridge, and down the electronic components.

The Yamaha Pacifica line was first launched in 1990, and were designed to meet the needs of session players in California in that era. Since session cats have to switch musical styles and tones quite a lot in one sitting, the Pacifica were designed to provide the flexibility they need, while having the durability and consistency that the pros required. As expected, the Pacifica line grew to have a diverse number of instruments in a number of different configurations, to appease guitarists of all levels and styles.

The Limited Edition Pacifica 612VII is the latest to come out of this production line, and this one is meant to sit with the more premium guitars that the company assembled and built. For the most part, this guitar stays true to the Pacifica design, sporting a double cutaway beveled “super strat” shape alder body and a bolt-on maple neck. The neck is topped by a rosewood fingerboard that is designed to be comfortable to play, with a radius of 13.75″ and a long 25.5″ scale length.

As mentioned, this limited run guitar comes with name-brand hardware, most prominent of which is the trio of Seymour Duncan pickups, which include two SSL-1 single coil pickups in the middle and neck positions, and a TB-14 in the bridge. All three pickups are wired to a 5-way blade switch much like a traditional Strat, but with modern humbucker tones courtesy of the bridge pickup. Other branded hardware include the Graph Tech nut and the Wilkinson VS50-6 tremolo bridge.

Yamaha Marketing Manager Armando Vega concludes, “Bringing a dual single-coil, humbucker configuration to the top end of our Pacifica line of electric guitars provides the guitarist with the ultimate high performance solidly crafted instrument. This guitar reflects our company’s ‘Never Standing Still’ mantra, where our customers can expect new colors, new options and plenty of built-in value from this long-standing, versatile and trusted instrument series. Upgraded materials and high performance components make this an extremely versatile guitar for a variety of playing styles, built for a lifetime of playing enjoyment.”

The MSRP for the new Yamaha Pacifica 612VII is $1050, and is available in two limited models: PAC612VIIFM (flame-top in either translucent blue or root beer) and the PAC612VII (black). The guitar is expected to start shipping this month, and only 100 will be produced for USA consumers. For further details, you can head over to Yamaha.
