This popular thread has been given its own page : KOA WOOD
: What can you tell me about koa wood. I have an opportunity to order a custom koa body and neck left-handed electric guitar (solid body). All my research turns up is that it is similar to mahoghany in tonal qualities. This tells me nothing. I hope you can provide more information on the tonal qualities and sounds I can expect from this instrument. I know there must be some significant differences from mahoghany beyond its appearance. The electronics will include active/passive electronics; two high output humbucking pickups w/a coil splitter for the neck pickup. I am looking forward to receiving your response. Thsnks in advance.
