I have a 1958 Les Paul "sunburst" that I bought new is early 1959. Serial number 8 5053. I personally brought the guitar to the Gibson factory in 1973 To have it restored. I have all the parts that the factory replaced to make the guitar look new. I took the guitar to Arlington Tx. to the Guitar show October 19th thru 21th. You can see the guitar by going to Billy Adams Rock-A-Billy Singer’s Web sight. I am interested in selling this insturment. Serious offer only.Dave Thornhill
This is the guitar I want, so if anyone has it for sale, (mint condition) I am interested. Does anyone know which year of the silverburst did Adam Jones of Tool play. If I can’t locate a good one, I guess I will have the Custom Shop make one. I wonder how much that will cost me?

Adam played 1978-1985 Silverburst Les Paul Customs. Gibson cut production of them short early on, because people complained that the metallic paint used to finish them made them sound weird, so you’ll be hard pressed to find one.

I have a 1979 and it is the best guitar I have ever had. Been offered 3K for it but would never sell it. i got it for 1200 bucks in Indianapolis from a music shop that couldn’t sell it due to it being too heavy. It is a beast but plays like butter and has sustain forever with PAF pickups. Keep looking and don’t give up! Tim

Music up in Utica New York back in 1983?It has been played very, very little , Maybe 50 times and is in ex. condition! Natural Blone finish! hello, i am looking for parts and the electronic circuit boards out of a les paul artist model guitar from the 80’s the guy that owned this guitar removed the circuit boards and wired the pickups up straight. i want to restore it back to the original design but dont know where to find the parts, any help would be great. thanks, bj brown
I have come across a LP personal in a shop in oslo. I have a number of questions about this, and the internet isn’t exactly full of information about this guitar. None of my friends in norway seem to know anything about it.
The first concern is the price they want at the shop. I think it is from 1971 and it looks really worn (that’s ok, as long as it’s on the outside). It is priced at 12000 Norwegian Kroner, which translates to about 1850 US dollars. I know that seems a lot, but guitars are expensive here, in comparison a new LP studio cost 14000 = 2150 USD.
Is 1850 USD for a LP personal a rip off?
I don’t know if the electronics are all out order, I see that this has been a recurring subject on this forum… Is it possible now to get a manual and/or drawings of electronics so that i can get someone to help me restore it if i need to?
I realize that some people might say that i am stupid to even consider buying this guitar. But i tried it a little bit, and it somehow catched my interest.
I would appriciate any help, by email if you want to.
I am the PROUD owner of a ’70 Les Paul Personal, and if you google: Les Paul Personal, you will find a very informative site about one guys experience with this guitar. My guitar looks just like the one in the photo. This site mentions the history of the series, and it’s shortcommings. The electronics in my guitar have been altered,(i.e. the low-impedence wiring has been changed). I consider my guitar a "lifer", in that I would never, ever sell it. Why, well for one there were only 146 of these made, and I love having a unique instrument. But most importantly, it has a sweet, sweet tone. Yes, it is heavy as hell, but that is the price you pay for such a solidly made guitar. As for the cost of the guitar you are looking at, I guess you have to weigh that against other really well made vintage Les Pauls in Oslo. My best friend sold me mine 20 years ago for $500US. (I could have bought a vintage Telecaster from him for the same price, but after having both for a couple of weeks, it was ob
vious that the Les Paul Personal far outperformed the ‘tele, particularily in tone, sustain, and playability). My guitar is one of six that I own, all of which are vintage, but if my house caught on fire, that Personal would be my first grab (well second after my daughter..)I hope my info might help you. I would try to point out to the shop owner that the guitar (if original) has outdated electronics, and that though rare, is not worth as much as most other Les Pauls. Mine looks like hell, because it has been through a lot with me, but I do not own it for the investment. Please give me a follow up if you go for that guitar.
Regards,
Chris
Really GUYS!! Why chew up a les Paul Low-Impedance Model, just because you can’t understand it?? The Low-Impedance guts inside it AREN’T outdated as you say. That just shows your ignorance. The Lo-Imp wiring allows the Les Paul Personal/Recording Model/Signature to sound very much like any other guitar…and do it quetly…AND allows you to play straight into a recording board and sound amazing. As far as the Les Paul Lo-Imp with newer electronics installed is concerned, I’m saddended to hear that it was raped and stuffed with Hi-Imp guts. That’s a shame, because you will never really be able to hear what the Lo-Imp Paul can do. I suspect that you wouldn’t even be able to tell what it can do even if you HADN’T replaced the lo-imp guts with newer Hi-Imp wiring. Very sad. Oh well.<
To whomever referred to me as "ingorant" for my kind description of my guitar, why get rude about it? I never spoke poorly of the low-imp electronics, I only stated that they are "out-dated". The ’67 mustang is "out-dated" too….That’s not to say something sucks, or does not perform…I do not want your pity or condolences for the condition my guitar was in when I bought it almost 20 years ago. Speak your mind, but you don’t have to get "personal".

A LP Personal doesn’t have to sound quiet…they came with a special impedance-matching cord with a transformer built into it. so they could be plugged into a standard amplifier as well as a studio board.
They are among the most versatile solidbody guitars ever made, sound-wise. It is sheer BUTCHERY to put standard HBs into one and take out all of that circuitry, and whoever does it should be strung up and his guts be used for garters.

The Moog circuitry for the Artist guitars is the same as the RD, and so are the pickups. These are Series VI low impedence, and they are potted in black epoxy, so the covers stay on! . Hope this helps. Padraic

I have been offered a black 1968 Les paul Custom which I would say is 7 out 10 in condition, as well as a ibanez archtop (it looks like a Gibson ES 333) for $1650.00. Is that a good deal? thank you.
I have a sunburst Deluxe serial number 177814. I believe it to be a 1964. This one has P90s in it (all original) and is in good condition. A little belt buckle and neck wear. What’s it worth? I haven’t used it in years and am reducing my volume of equipment.

I need help before I buy this guitar for my boyfriend
Amy
My boyfriend’s birthday is around the corner and he’s been drooling over a ’68 black Les Paul in the window of an antique store for the last couple of days. It comes with a case for $375 but I’m not even sure if it works. I’ve seen people in looking at it a lot but it’s still there which makes me think it doesn’t, or it’s just not worth the money. I want to snatch it up and get it for him if it’s a good deal. Can some one tell me what to look to decide whether or not to get it for him? I need to move on this within the next couple of days, so please help me!
i am trying to find out what the value is on my old gibson les paul ???
franco
Hi there,
I am trying to find out the value of my old les paul, it was made circa 1960’s ?
there is a seriel number on the back of the guitar 9 ?539
It has 2 pick up controls
my local guitar store only deal in new guitars so could not help me,
It is a gibson les paul model and still has its original gibson case.
It is the light red colour model.
Any help with this would be so appriciated.
I just got a used epi Paul from a local music store. The finish is called gold flake. It has a natural mahogany back and neck like the Gibson gold tops. I’ve been looking on Musicians Friend and those kind of sites to see what the retail for one of these is but couldnt find any kind of similar guitar in gold flake. What model of Paul is this? I’m thinking its a standard because it has the Gibson style tuners on it. Also, is this color discontinued? And if so, what year was it discontinued in? Thanks for the help,
Mike
I’ve got one of these guitars, they are a limited edition les paul standard model, which i believe were released in 2000. However they are now discontinued and quite hard to find. About the price of them – i was told they were about £450, when they were new.
hey all im after the blue prints for both the ibanez iceman, preferably ICT700, and the ibanez xiphos, any model. I cant seem to find them anywhere. any help would be greatly apreciated.

: Really GUYS!! Very sad. Oh well.<
A LP Personal doesn’t have to sound quiet…they came with a special impedance-matching cord with a transformer built into it. so they could be plugged into a standard amplifier as well as a studio board.
They are among the most versatile solidbody guitars ever made, sound-wise. It is sheer BUTCHERY to put standard HBs into one and take out all of that circuitry, and whoever does it should be strung up and his guts be used for garters.

how much would a 1960 les paul standard with all original pick ups, machine heads, tail piece, etc be worth?
Hi ! could anybody tell me informations about the original pickups in the 80’s Artist ? Thanx.
The Moog circuitry for the Artist guitars is the same as the RD, and so are the pickups. These are Series VI low impedence, and they are potted in black epoxy, so the covers stay on! . Hope this helps. Padraic

Serial# 71389041
First off, to date it its the first and fifth digit of the serial number, that would make it a ’79. Depending on the condition its probably worth 900-1200 bucks. if its in very good condition maybe a bit more. hope this helps. rik/nobullgtr

Has anybody got info on EROS copy of a Gibson Les Paul
My boyfriend’s birthday is around the corner and he’s been drooling over a ’68 black Les Paul in the window of an antique store for the last couple of days. It comes with a case for $375 but I’m not even sure if it works. I’ve seen people in looking at it a lot but it’s still there which makes me think it doesn’t, or it’s just not worth the money. I want to snatch it up and get it for him if it’s a good deal. Can some one tell me what to look to decide whether or not to get it for him? I need to move on this within the next couple of days, so please help me!
I have a ’73 LesPaul Deluxe, finished in Gold Top. It’s in pretty good shape. Can enyone help me to find out what it’s worth? I’d be grateful!

Hi there,
I am trying to find out the value of my old les paul, it was made circa 1960’s ?
there is a seriel number on the back of the guitar 9 ?539
It has 2 pick up controls
my local guitar store only deal in new guitars so could not help me,
It is a gibson les paul model and still has its original gibson case.
It is the light red colour model.
Any help with this would be so appriciated.
Thank you.
Franco.
I’ve got one of these guitars, if you want to buy me this guitar my mail is [email protected]
Check the pics first, ask questions later.
