Three New Vox VTX Amplifiers

Vox expands the Valvetronix Series with three new combo amplifiers, all of which feature multi-stage tube preamp and digital amp modeling capabilities.

Vox VT40X

The new hybrid tube/digital amplifiers include the VT20X, VT40X and VT100X combo amp models, all of which inherit the company’s latest modeling technology developments.

These new amps expand the company’s popular hybrid amp line Valvetronix, which was first released in 2001. All three amps carry the company’s latest modeling engine called VET (Virtual Element Technology), which simulates the individual components of actual circuits to get accurate results. They also feature a multi-stage Valvetronix 12AX7 tube preamp section that utilizes true analog circuitry to mix in genuine analog feel and tone into the modeled sound.

The new VET modeling engine covers a diverse range of amplifier sounds, with a total of 11 amp models that goes up to 20 when you use the editor and librarian software. With this technology, you can switch into a number of sought-after tube amps that include rare vintage and boutique models.

There are also a number of modern high-gain amps available so you get the versatility of having both old and new amps in one convenient package. And since VTX amps use real tubes, the resulting modeled tones have analog feel.

US Brand Manager for VOX Brian Piccolo said, “VTX amplifiers produce the most accurate and realistic amplifier sounds to date. In addition to clever and innovative circuitry, the VTX combos feature a sealed cabinet and a proprietary bass-reflex designed to enhance bass response, as well as compatibility with VOX’s Tone Room software.”

Other features found in all three amps are Bias adjustments, the ability to switch between Class A and AB circuits all of which can be done in realtime. In depth control and customizations the amp’s modeling engine is available via Vox’s Tone Room software, which is available on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS devices. All three VTX Series amps are scheduled for release later this month, with the following price tags:

  • VT20X – $179.99
  • VT40X – $249.99
  • VT100X – $349.99

As of 30 March 2016, there is no Toneroom software available for Android. Android support is also stated on some sales literature on the internet, and distributors’ web-sites.

However, Vox Support have told me they currently have “no plans” to support Android to the device compatibility problems.
