Yeah, I own one of these basses also. I’ve been playing it on and off for about 25 years. The only beef I have with it is the tuning heads died on me about
10 years ago and it’s real hard to find authentic replacements for them. The only luck I had was about 5 years ago when I contacted the
Loduca Brothers in I believe Wisconsin? I think it was Milwaukee.
Other than that, a killer bass all around, once you get use to the cramps from the thin neck.
I have an original Eko Violin Bass that I bought in 1965. Anyone know what it’s worth in mint condition?
: Seriously this is not an easy company to find info on. OR to atleast verify wether or not the various EKO look-a-likes are original or not. I too just bought an EKO violin bass, and am searching not for value, but for authenticity. I am also searching for original EKO parts and have had some luck at http://www.brandoniguitars.co.uk/prices8.htmlatleast for the parts anyway.
HI EKO OWNERS I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I USED TO OWN THE EKO VIOLIN BASS AT LEAST
3 TIMES AND THE 3 TIMES I HAD TO RETURN THEM BECAUSE OF THE NECKS.THEY WERE WARPED
ONLY ONE WAS DECENT BUT I HAD TO RAISE UP THE BRIDGE A LITTLE TO IT’S LIMIT,ALSO
THEY ALL STARTED TO HUM ONCE CONNECTED TO MY AMP.
I LOVE THE DESIGN THE HEAD STOCK AND THE NATURAL WOOD FINISH,BUT AS FOR PLAYABILITY
IF YOU LIKE THE VIOLIN SHAPE DESIGN GET YOURSELF EITHER A HOFNER BEATLE BASS OR
THE NEXT BEST THING AND MORE AFFORDABLE THE EPIPHONE VIOLA BASS.
YOU WON’T GO WRONG.
CHEERS
I have one myself, and its a beautiful instrument. -with flat-wound strings it has a soft deeeeeep sound, just great, the høfner is no match when it comes to playability and sound, -have a few of those!
