Otherwise known as ‘bump’. Do you have any affiliation with said store, Can?

Hmmm, AFAIK, four-conductor is needed to do a SC/HB switch. I’m not familiar with the pups and I wouldn’t fancy a dis-assemble, for sure. It must be do-able, but I’m not sure how much more complicated. Presumably, the ‘hot’ wire is both coils, in parallel, combined. I’m on the outer limits so I won’t suggest more – maybe some proper solder-monkeys will chime in? Otherwise, your luthier techy is worth asking for a quote.

If you set “bottom, body and hair” contols to 0, is this the same as a “back, crack and sack” wax? 😛

It does seem very likely that this was from the Fuji-Gen-Gakki factory. May have been Ibanez, Greco, whatever but they’re all similar. Any other info/pics? Bolt on neck? Convincing toasters?

Aaron pretty much sums it up. For the bare mathematics; look at your pension sheme(s). Either you have very badly performing investments, or a ’59 LP. Otherwise, a wife is more valuable than a guitar every time.

Besides, I never managed the proper technique of ‘making love to my guitar’ – although the 1/4″ socket didn’t help.

Update – the Mrs has just looked at my screen and added “you never managed the proper technique of making love to the wife, either” 😳 I’ll butt out of this thread now, I think.

enash, far be it for me…, don’t shoot me, I’m only the bass player…

In other words, ignore this stuff if you like. The push-pull coil tap makes sense because it’s reversible and leaves no extra holes. A good solder-monkey can do it, if luthier man wants silly money. Specify that the original work is de-soldered, not snipped, and have the original pot bagged and given back to you. These things are important if you sell on.

Assuming you’re thinking of the bridge pup, but have a look at http://www.guitar-electronics.com for any conceivable.

😀 Funnelly nuff, Lee, I’m in the “I like Mullards” camp. Not to the extent of blowing £200+ on a quad, though. I remember (only five years ago) when my Mulls were yanked for Svets and I wish they hadn’t.

OTOH, my kagoul doesn’t totally rustle. I do love it when someone posts up “pics of 1960s JTM – whaddaya think” and someone replies “non-original filter caps.”

No, really? The caps haven’t lasted forty years 🙄 ? What terrible effects on tone that’s made. I prefer puffing white powder with an evil smell any day (I think it was Prince Harry that recommended this – or was it Charlie?) 😈 Oops, lost the knighthood.

It’ll cost, alright. I’m happy with what I have, and wives are more difficult to list on Fleeb. Have a look at the Plexi Palace BB forum (I think you already know of the others) for some ops. There are some real gearheads there too, able to spot a replaced filter cap from 50yds (or from a moby ‘phone pic on Fleeb – usually harder).

I’ve never bought from him (now looking glad I haven’t) but I’ve been watching ER’s site for several years now. It’s certainly looking slick, but he radiates “I sell great stuff, everybody else sells crap, I know all there is, don’t come whining to me…”.

I always get put off by these types. Maybe there are a lot of satisfied buyers out there (he’d be out of business otherwise), but it’s how they deal with the unhappys that counts. Somewhere on his site, I remember reading something to the effect that you can go to LV, look at his stock, but you sure as hell can’t touch it. He doesn’t want your icky, working-muso’s fingers affecting the resale value of his $2000+ guitars.

Cough up several g because it looks nice on the wall and no comebacks? No wonder he hates Fleabay. Some Fleebers look like Trading Standards Officers compared with his sales pitch.

What Michael means is; no matter how you type it, it still doesn’t fit:

5000 posts = “Pay no attention to the rocks, I’m still Jenny from the blocks”

    🙄 Yeah, right 🙄

See? It doesn’t fit in that little squarea for the messagemen. But “5000 = JLo” might just be libel. So, only I said it, and the opinion expressed does not necessarily reflect those of guitarsite.com etc etc.

Yeesh. Hosting a forum would be so much more fun if there weren’t so many out of work lawyers. 😈

That’s Aus $, which works out under £40, if I have the exchange rate correct. With stand and strap, it seems like an OK starter acoustic for little money. It’ll be a no-name made somewhere in SE Asia, probably China but there are other countries.

    I absolutely love the seller’s description. “Perfect for Green Day”, a nylon-strung acoustic 😯 😕 🙄

“dooo yoo have the time, to listen to me whiyine…”
    der-dum, dink, der-dum, dink…

Logged in to find I’ve dodged past the security guy to get in the dressing room, too 🙂 I’d suppose 50 posts, 100 posts, 500 etc are the staging posts for changing the legends.

TBH, if I were moderator, I’d stick with the ‘groupie’ theme:
    50 posts = fellated drummer
100 posts = took bassist “up rang ‘un”
    500 posts = shagged guitarist
    1000 posts = married singer
5000 posts = persuaded Puff Daddy to launch my music/acting career despite lack of any discernible talent.

Now you know why I don’t make moderator 😛

Yep, sensible enquiries only. References to dumb Limeys with no knowledge of Marshalls… I think I’ll pass, too. The time diff can be a bit of a hit. BTW, done the dentist today elec-im. I’m as clean as a Hiwatt with a MosFet retro-fit, but I’ve been told to stop smoking. Gaah. 🙁

I go with Lee, but there are a lot of variables. Small-medium in the UK means 100-200 people – is this the same for you? Does the audience only hear your amp, with no PA micing? Remember, an 80W amp is not “twice” as loud as a 40W amp. The ear doesn’t work like that. But an 80W amp won’t have to “work” so hard, esp with another 12″ shifting a bit more air.

If you like a bit of ‘crunch’ for your style, the 40W (maybe + extension cab) may be what you want. OTOH, the 80W with a good pedal could do it for you. As Lee says, more info on the brands you’re looking at would help, as would the likely gigging.
