Kiss? Perhaps not so much musically as theater … and glitz .. Motley Crue and Posion come to mind .. however I would remind you that not only do I not care for Kiss but also I care even less for their spawn.

Though God help me I do kinda like The Darkness .. weird I know but I just cant seem to help it 😉

Well to the list in regards to influencing music for later generations etc.. I would add all the Bands Clapton played in since sooo many bands mentioned listed here have guitarists that place him as an influence but I would also add Alice Cooper and The Ramones .. and Kiss though I cant stand Kiss I cant deny their influence on culture and their influence on the music scene and Lord have mercy how could we not mention Rush? 😯

Digitech makes great stuff .. IMO the Uber Metal by line 6 is better but either choice is good .. but then again we’re still speaking in generic, borad and vague terms here .. I still don’t know your setup or what you’re wanting to play or soundlike.

Well yes one must factor in the consumer but how does one (the consumer) know what’s out there and have the ability to appreciate that which they are not allowed to hear?

For example .. I had a friend of mine listen to Gretchen goes to Nebraska .. and he was blown away wanted to know if it was a “new” band etc .. I said nope .. been around since the early 80’s friend .. but ya aint gonna hear them because clear channel will only feed us their popculture vomit .. yes true the consumer returns to the vomit time and time again but surely some competitor out thre can point them to a plate of filet mignon a tad more often eh?

I’ve been meaning to work on that with podxtl .. apparently you use zoom I guess .. but I can tell you what models are being used and perhaps you can find a comparable model being used by zoom .. I’ll get back to you in next 24hrs or so .. and let you know what amp head cabinet .. and mic and room size I used along with any stomp mod delay and or verb boxes used and their settings…

I could tell you more specifically what you are looking for if you give me more specifics .. like tell me if you gig or are doing sets what kind of covers do you play .. will you need a diverse pedal or just one for playing nothing but Metal .. what’s your price range .. what are you putting it in front of (I mean is it a power amp or something with its own preamp?)

Right off the cuff I always offer metal heads the uber metal from line 6 if all you’re wanting is a metal pedal you wont be dissapointed with lame gain… it’s got alot of toneshaping options and can go from massive saturated gain to slight tube overdrive sounds like a stomp gainer pedal like the IBZ T.S. ..

Gimme a little more to go on and I can be even more specific.

I still hold Clear Channel as primarily responsible for choking us with pantloads of “we’ll all sound the same to make money” .. bands because they feel that if they don’t they wont get airtime .. we need more diversity or at least radio guys that wont play by clear channels rules and will play great bands like uhm saaaay King’s X for example a top notch band that it seems mostly musicians have heard of and few others.

MrByngBell: Got the Cow Dolphin Icon from a site that offers JPG images for your MSIMS .. so long ago I don’t remember site but do searches whthin those parameters and you’ll likely find a suitable desktop size image of it. 😉

Still no luck on the Knot Flange thang .. but got a great Slash tone from appetite mimicking that dirty Marshall silver Jubilee sound .. and when messing with a clean sound got a nice funky autowah sound with a flangy chorus delay vibe to it .. anyone with podxt live Ill be happy to give ya the settings if ya want it …fun to goof around with and jam.

Links no help and unfortunately it seems no where I look can I find anyone who knows what settings may’ve been used on any equipment pod or otherwise. 😉

I’ll try to ensure that each new thread I start contains just such catchey snappy titles .. 😀

Now of course I am going to wind up redoubling my efforts to find out how this sound is acheived .. though I seem to be getting closer fiddling with a tape echo..jet flange combo .. if, or should I say when, I find out just how this is done I will let you know the settings too.

Well hopefully someone soon can inform me of the settings for either the pod or other mod settings or what have to obtain that unique flange sound ..

Concerning the podxtlive .. I love it but don’t like too many of the preset sounds that include gain with the exception of Eruption(though I add the stomp on thatone to gain a bit more edge using EQ’d tube overdrive) and I tweeked the reverb a bit to get it to sound virtually like the original .. also Bohemian Rhapsody with wah on is great and so is the Run like Hell preset though again I add a tad more gain and sustain to it.

Now the coolest thing about the pod is that unlike some other floor rigs this puppy doesn’t loose its testicular fortitude when cranked .. though perhaps this depends on just what you’re cranking it through .. I use the studio direct setting because it uses the A.I.R. settings where I can tweak mike setups and room size and what cabinet I wanna use and just either power amp it or run the PODxtLive right through the club mixing board and use the PA for my speakers .. and it is very impressive .. massive gain and no hissing so long as your mixing guy knows what he’s doing and runs you line in not miked ..

It has it’s short comings but its the best thing on the floor on a low budget IMO you can buy.

I’m real picky about gain settings .. I mean real real pick. If it doesn’t saturate and sing then I get frustrated and toss it .. this pod can get anything from Duane Eddy .. to Al Dimeola Acoustic sounds to Slipknot and Metallica and all points in between ..add a variax guitar and it opens up even more possibilites.

I hate to sound like an add campaign but I if you know how to tweak settings and edit it’ll do just about anything you want whtithin reason of course as I have disovered in the process of attempting to get that flange sound.
