Well my bed time is actually about 2 hours after I SHOULD be in bed. I got my CTS mini pots of of guitarelectronics.com They were cheap as heck. It’s the waiting that gets ya. I’m thinking about wiring up a seperate knob just for my seymor duncan screamin deamin, so its running 500Kohm and not 25kohm. I just cant find any good diagrams for that, and I don’t like soldering, and then un soldering then resoldering…

Vrewooowwww! Welp I got the new Pots installed an all hooked up. Man what a difference GOOD pots with the correct resistance make. The Tone knob actually works now too. ALthough when I’ve got my amp on distortion you can’t tell the differance at all. But set to clean and you can definitely hear the tone differences. Oh well… it’s about and hour past my bedtime so…
    L8er all 😆

Aside from sounding a little more “fat” when compaired to the EMG 85 the S.D. Screamin Deamon sounds fine… I mean it doesn’t have anywhere near the output of a 85 running 18volts, but for a passive pup I don’t have any problem with it. I ordered 25k CTS mini pots (what the emg website calls for) today. As soon as they arrive and I install them I’ll let you all know if the tone control works now…

I got them working. Well Kind of. The pickups work, I have the 85 and the single up and running, along with my Passive Screamin Deamon HB in the Neck possition now. I am running 18v in the guitar and it works just fine. I couldn’t find 25k Ohm pots, so I used 10k ohm pots they work, But I should probably switch out to 25’s eventually, The only problem I’m having is my tone pot does nothing, It’s hooked up and everythng but it doesn’t change to tone at all 🙁

The 85 has a fatter tone. The Low end has a lot more depth and the high end doesn’t sond so damn tinny. Don’t get me wrong the 81’s sound good too, but when you do a back to back sound-off the 85 winds hands down IMHO My wife thinks so too 🙂 The SE’s he gave me sound pretty good too.
You can run 9v EMG Actves on 18v? I know Seymour Duncan has 18v Active pickups. Oh I don’t need a phase inverter to use passive Seymour Duncan pickups, just the active ones. It’s just a littl emore tricky to wire Active and Passive pickups in the same guitar…

I don’t think so, they all look to be One piece all sealed together. I know when you order them, you order the color you want, I don’t think that they can be changed without the chance of screwing them up… maybe if there was just a thin COVER available…

If you’re looking for tabs go to http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ IMHO its better tha olga because you don’t have to sort through 10 dead links to find the song you want. 70,000+ tabs and growing… not very often do I not find at least 3 versions of the song i’m looking for.

I was thinking about doing that anyway (switching to a 7 position switch) just so I can use my HB as single coils if I so please…

I am happy with the tone. Except now my Center pickup sounds all “weeniefied” sitting next to those glorious SemDun (sounds Korean) HB’s. That and it’s out of phase so I can’t Use setting 2, or 4, until I warm up my soldering iron and switch the wires around. The pots are getting scratchy. Sometimes they work fine, and sometimes I get chhhhhhttt, chhhhtttt, when I change my volume or tone levels 🙁 All and All I would say it sounds almost nothing like it did when i first plugged it in…

You can use music master works (mostly a midi program) To transpose any sound recorded through your audio card input weather it’s Line In or Mic, the Program will write it using Lines and Dots 🙂 and Convert it to midi. I’m sure there are programs out there that will convert midi lines and dots to Readable Tabulature. Unless you can read Line-and-Dots…

Nothing special. I’ma two guitar guy. Crappy ass Fender Squire Strat with some upgrading 😉 and an Ibanez 270 DX with a JB series HB in the neck position, and a Screamin’ Deamon HB in the Bridge possition. I use Blue Steal Regulars, and Maroon Woven Cord to Connect it to my Flextone II Line 6 amp. Of Course I’ve got it all wired up to my ‘puter so I can play with the tone using Sound Forge and mix my tracks Sonic Foundry Acid Music 🙂 Like I said I just play for me… if I wuz in a band then I would have an Excuse to buy that new 300 Watt Line6 Head and 8 Speaker Cabnet I slobber over every Time I go to Dave Phillips Music and sound…

Thanks for the link I saved it under bookmarks. The only “Linear” pot we found in any of their catalagues was in an “All-Parts” catalogue and listed as 500kOHM Linear Push-Push… WTF Is a Push, PUSH?? I’ve heard of Push-Pull, you use those so you can have the added benfit of another pot without having another hole in you’re axe. So I did sort of prove to him that they do Exist (some guitar tech) but that wasn’t even close to what I wanted…
I also found an Online store selling Active (battery powered) Effects Pots, http://www.axesrus.com/axeknobs.htm are these worth the money or are they a waste of space and 9v of Electricity.

The ones I bought were Fender pots, but they Did have CTS (but none in 500k). AFter some arguing with the guitar tech that there is such thing as a “Linear” 500k Pot (thats what the diagram on the Ibanez website calls for), I got fed up and Just asked for a refund. The only other guitar store in town only had 1 500k pot, and it was the wrong size anyway. So I’m just going to have to order off the ‘net somewhere…
