My EMG’s on my Tele are truly ultra silent, which was my main reason for changing. I only play at home in my studio and the noise levels were just unacceptable with the Fender Texmex passives (also replacements for the originals). Now I can play Guitar Rig’s noisiest amps with, er, no noise. I’m a happy bunny.
The biggest surprise for me about the EMG’s is how well the tone pot works. It was basically useless before.
I’m no fan of Fender hardware apart from neck and body.
Lou_RankoMemberYes, that’s true. It’s the demo I’m running without the floorboard. I go into a Joe Meek VC3 then into an RME Multiface. Latency 3ms.
I believe if you have the floorboard then it should work with any modern computer, as there’s a dedicated sound card in the floorboard.
Lou_RankoMemberAfter I’d changed the strings on it (regular 10’s) and waited a day for them to settle in, it was just great. I had to adjust the intonation a tad, but both the keys came with it. It was pretty fekkin close anyway.
The frets are a tiny wee bit sharp off the side off the neck, and I’ll probably give them a bash with the emery paper next string change.
Otherwise, considering the return policy that Thomann have if you don’t like.. It’s an absolute gem. Sounds magic. Less hum through the mixer than my old crappy Fenders. Not fitting EMG’s just yet though..
Holds the tuning for days mate. Good machines.
Lou_RankoMemberHello mate. Sorry for the silence.
Yeah. A Les Paul with EMG’s.. It’s a bit sad, I agree. But on a crappo Fender, they sound great. Gilmore’s Strat sounds wonderful, as does my 20 yr old Tele. I should know, I’ve owned it since new. But Fenders are shite anyway. I’d never butcher a Gibson. Heavy metal w***ers may differ.
Lou_RankoMemberWell, that’s basically bollocks.
Lou_RankoMemberDevo are magic. And you try telling kids today with their bloody Spice Girls.
Lou_RankoMemberProbably not worth much mate. Everyone’s got one. I’ll give you €50 for it.
Can you post a pic of it anyway?
Lou_RankoMemberLOL!
Lou_RankoMemberHello mate
For 50 €uropes I couldn’t say no. It’s sparked his interest and he does a funny thrash metal impression that’s worth the price alone.
11 year old daughter prefers the Tele with a capo. “Can I have this guitar and not that one when you die?”
Kids, hey? You can’t beat ’em. Any more.May 1, 2007 at 7:12 am in reply to: I need the best guitar tuner for under 50bucks please help! #69130Lou_RankoMemberI’ve been using an ARION HU-8500 for about 20 years now… Now I know where to lay the blame for my lack of fame, women and drugs.

Great piece of kit, still being made (just googled) and still cheap.
Lou_RankoMemberGo and check a Spector bass, mate. I’ve got a Legend 4:

The EMG-HZ’s are LOUD as loud can be and can do all the bass I’ve ever wanted. What kind of deep grr you after there Tim?
Welcome all to come over for beer and grill and check out the EMG’s if you’re in Helsinki for the Eurovision Song Contest next month..
Lou_RankoMemberHello all. Expat Manc here barging in on your forum.
Well, I installed EMG’s T-Set on my old Tele this year, and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. They’re absolutely silent – I mean no hum – very powerful and the tone range is stunning. They can make any sound you like. I would never change back.
I’ve also got EMG-HZ’s on me Spector Bass and they basically erm, pee on anything else I’ve ever used. Absolutely every tone imaginable, crystal clear and very loud if need be.
So, that’s about it. Cheers!
