Very nice, you make it easy to learn this stuff.

I didn’t see this before your reply was posted, but I agree with that too. I’m trying to devore more time to practice. I’m not getting any younger and I still am not where I want to be technically speaking.

I can play a good bit of rythmn and am pretty good at it with chord structure and changes and such, but I could never get my fingers to do what I wanted them to do when trying to learn a lead guitar lick.

What was written is very applicable in everyday life or anything that you want to accomplish. I didn’t think I’d ever be able to build a Boeing 727 simulator, let alone earn my Commercial and Instrument ratings in an airplane, but I applied myself and sacrificed quite a bit to get there.

Playing the guitar is the same, but many thousands of dollars cheaper. 😀

I’m an internet junkie. I’ve been all over the web and I’ve seen a lot of things in 15 years.

That has to be the coolest thing I’ve ever seen on the internet.

I can only imagine the coordination nightmare that must have been and I wonder how they handled the time delay of the signals coming and going. Even satellite based signals are not instantaneous.

Definately out of my league for internet engineering! And I thought running flight simulator on three networked computers and six monitors was cool.

Thanks for posting that. Worth a couple of looks.

And you’ll have me sounding as good as Hendrix in 10 minutes, right?

    Thanks for your replay Dale.

The Seagull does have a cedar top. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a pretty nice guitar for the money, but a bit too warm for my taste. Before purchasing it over a decade ago I was unaware of the different tonal qualities of woods used in guitar building.

I used to use GHS White Bronze on another guitar (I no longer have) for recording and was very pleased with the way they sounded on that guitar. Very bright and cut through the rest of the mix quite well.

I’ll have to try and find an internet dealer and order a set for the Seagull.

I don’t do much finger picking except for once again trying to learn “Never Going Back Again”, mostly flat picking.

The Collings C-10 is the sound I’m after. Sad to say the Martin was far short. It sounded very ‘middy’ and muffled like my Seagull.

Thanks for posting the song. I’m not familiar with it but you play it very well.

I saw the follow up video comparing the three acoustics you have. The Seagull is a dead-ringer for the Martin sound. I wouldn’t ordinarily compare a very expensive guitar against a low mid-range offering, but it’s pretty close in the sound.

The highs on the C-10 rang out just as I’m looking for.

Edited to add: I’ve discovered that tone comes at a mighty steep price.

It would be just for the look.

I don’t think it’s all that different than some outlandish and gaudy paint jobs I’ve seen on some guitars. I think it would be a very slick and modern look.

I thought about using a spray adhesive such as 3M #77 to initially adhear the carbon fiber to the body. After getting it attached, a light coat of polyester resin to seal and protect it.

Not neccesarily a mirror finish, as I don’t want that. I want to be able to see and feel the texture of the material on the body. Putting on that much resin would add way too much weight.

I agree about the Tele body. It has the least amount of curves and they’re fairly gentle at that. I was thinking of a black or gray binding, but I’ll give some thought to the white. That would really be a stark contrast. It might look good.

I need to do further research on binding a guitar. There is a good tutorial on the Stew-Mac site and they sell the jig to attatch to my Dremel to route the binding relief.

That’s a nice rig. I haven’t had the chance to see the videos yet, but will take a look.

I have never used the 421, but know it’s an excellent mic. I have always used the 441 for recording both vocals and instruments. It’s a very versatile and outstanding Sennheiser.

Recording a vocal with a dynamic mic has usually raised eyebrows, but it really, really sounds good.

Nice vintage Sennheiser 421 you have there.

The speakers are actually GSH1230 Wharfedale’s. They sound very nice.

I do plan to change the rest out, starting with the three-way toggle. That’s has to be the worst part of the whole guitar.

It works fine, but it’s very loose and sloppy feeling.

The bridge and the stop piece are next. I’m replacing those with the TonePro setup.

I can’t speak for all the Chinese-made Epiphone guitars, but structurally and finish-wise, this is a very nice example. I can see they do have to meet a price point or everyone would buy Gibson’s instead or do without. I can’t see myself spending $3-$5K for a Gibson.

Well, I started learning it again. Bought a nice Kyser capo, a new set of strings, downloaded the tab again, and I’m off.

I’ll let you know how it’s going in a couple of weeks.

My appologies, it’s the Classic Plus, not Custom Classic. It was early here.

Yes it uses four 12AX7’s for the two pre’s and a pair of EL34’s.

I don’t really know what speaker is in this. I hope a Celestion, but it could be an EV as well. The manual doesn’t state.
