    Hi guys,

This sucker makes the bowling ball/marble look like a Da Vinci.

Sorry I was so quick to nominate the bowling ball/marble strat.

Believe it or not they call this a “splatter strat”.

    Has Fender stopped making guitars?

Did you say you are more of a collector than a player Brian?[/quote]

Yes Lee at the moment I am more a collector than player. But I taking lessons to rectify that. My wife actually bought me the ’62 reissue!

Do not want to be a smart arse, but would it not be the one YOU like the sound of the most. Music to me is a really personal thing. I know what I like and it’s hard to change my mind. If you buy something from e-bay it is very hard to return it if you do not like it.

I tend to go to pawnbrokers, they will normally let you plug in and give the amp a run.

When Rolf Harris (An Australian icon who lives in England) wanted to parody Bohemian Rhapsody he wanted to use the line “momma just killed a man, put a pencil against his head, slipped and filled him full of lead”.

Apparently the rest of the song was to be like this but “His Majesty the Great Sir Brian ‘I built my own guitar’ May objected so it never happened.

I am a huge Queen fan and did not see this as offensive. How does ‘Weird Al’ get away with it? He is another talent!

I don’t know why Bo Rap is parodied so often, maybe it is because so many people have affection for it and want a little piece of it!

I can remember the first time my wife and I went to London, we went to a pub in Bloomsbury that happened to have a karaoke night on. Of course I requested Bo Rap, the host said he does not really like playing it but since we were from OZ he way play it for us, he said it usually does not go over very well, by the second verse most of the pub were on their feet singing as one.

The “Marble/Bowling Ball” Strat was not a pretty guitar.

    Thanks Dave,

The fingerboard is Rosewood. As you say a new neck is probably the best option. My guitar teacher thoguht it had a suspect action so he took it to his luthier who confirmed the neck was twisted/warped.

    Hi Guys,
I have just sent the following email to Fender Australia, to be honest I am not expecting a reasonable reply, actually I am not expecting a reply!!
    ______________________________________________________________
I have just been told that my “50th Anniversary” (1996) Stratocaster has a twisted neck! This guitar is really beautiful and deserves saving. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. How did this happen?? This guitar has had very little work and has been stored properly. I purchased this guitar (second hand) from a reputable dealer (Anthony’s Music, Liverpool, NSW). I am an amateur collector and at 50 years of age have finally started to take lessons, is this the quality I can come to expect from Fender Guitars. What are my options??? Can I purchase a new neck at a reasonable price or just accept that the best is not always that.

Cross your fingers for me my friends.

    SB and Others,

I bought the guitar second hand from a reputable dealer. I know nothing about the mechanics of guitars and am only now learning how to play! If Fender coverts their reputation so highly maybe I should make a play for a replacement neck anyway, it will only take an email. Thank you very much SB for the advice and suggestions, I will keep everyone up to date with my progress with the “Great F”. 😕

I tried a low slung guitar once, it was right down in the groin area, unfortunately I could not reach it because it was pushed so far from my body by the man package. 🙄 🙄

Not so finely tuned Michael, I am 50 and had my 3rd guitar lesson last Tuesday! I have been collecting guitars for a number of years but never learned to play. My wife said “learn or I will burn the bloody things”. Enough said OK.
