Looks good, but I would suggest adding something about trouble shooting. A beginner would not understand why a string might not be sounding or that a finger might be deadening another string by touching it. Very informative page, but this topics have to addressed, otherwise it will only create frustration.

I would just go to a music store and ask about getting a guitar with a different fretboard scale. They make guitars with all types of different sizes of fretboards. There are lots of people with small hands that like to play. That should be no problem!!

Get a tuner for sure!!! Make sure it is a chromatic one, that way you can train your ear a bit as well. They have really come down in price. You can buy one for about 20 dollars

First of all, as far as the guitar is concerned. Brand really doesn’t matter. YOU have to look around and find the guitar that fits your fancy. There are cheaper guitars that play better than expensive ones. I worked in a music store for a good portion of my life to know that. Yeah, get the best guitar that you can afford, but don’t just go out and grab the one that is more expensive if you don’t try it and like it first. Ideally, as a beginner, it would be best to a 1000 dollar guitar to start on. I am sure it would be more comfortable. Yet, this is not in everyone’s budget. I would suggest that you take a friend with you that plays the guitar to check various ones out. Get the one that you like the most. You will never forget your first one!

As for playing left handed, Yeah, it is more expensive, but not that much. It is like batting right handed although you are a lefty. Yeah, you can do it, but you will never be as good as if you went along with nature. Almost any good guitar can be ordered as a lefty. You are talking 2 weeks at the most to wait. If you are left handed, you should start left handed. Ambidextrous or not, you will still play better on a left handed guitar. If that means waiting 2 weeks and 50 dollars more to order one, isn’t it worth the wait?

Well, the BEST guitar for a beginner, would be the most expensive quality guitar you can get, yet this is not in the buget of most beginning guitarists. At the same time, you have to take into consideration of what you want to spend then go into a music store and try the various guitars. It is important to not only have a quality sounding instrument, but one that plays well. The look of the guitar, unless that is important to you, should be last on your list. The reason I would suggest that you try the instrument, is that even less expensive guitars can sometimes, depending on a lot of chance can sound great and some expensive guitars can also sound bad for the same reason. It is not usual that you would buy and expensive guitar and it sounds bad, but it could happen. This is why it is really important to try it out. AT the same time, as beginners are unsure of what to look for in a good guitar, it would be wise to try to find someone that know a little bit about the instrument to go with you and possibly try the guitars for you. Hope that helps!

Depending on what type of music you play, you have to use what is right for you. The classical nylon guitar should be played with nails if you play classical, but if you don’t you can use whatever you want. Most people use finger picks because they have to play for long hours on the metal strings. Their nails would never hold out! When it comes right down to it. You have to use what is right for you.

They both look like great guitars, but to be honest with you, it is really important that you try a guitar before buying it. There are so many factors in a good sounding guitar that each guitar off an assembly line will sound different. For this reason, it is of a great advantage to actually try one out first, no matter what brand or model.

I may be wrong, but I think Muddy Waters was played a lot in the movie “Crossroads”. Just and idea, but if you are a blues fan and haven’t seen it, that is what I would suggest.
