    Another thing –

Nice debates and opinions in here too. Surprising that no one has gone off the hook and stooped down to call others stupid and such just because of a difference of opinion.

Problem is, I am aspiring to know and learn the techniques. Thank you for the guitar types and tips though, I’ll keep it in mind when I buy my next guitar, but I’m realy looking for more of techniques and whatnot.

I don’t have much, just one guitar 3 pedals and an amp. But if I were to bring just ONE thing out through the fire, it’d be the guitar. Although it’s rather bad and sucks quite a little bit, I still love it. Don’t know what year its made, but its from the mid-sixties, from a company called Kimberly. And it fades from black on the edges to cherry transparent red both on the body and neck. And the pickguard is black with thing gold paisley. So beautiful.

SB, as far as specifics for sites and whatnot, basically customizing guitars and amps and stuff, like warmoth.com. but yeah, i’ll probably go down the whole list and see what’s what.

SB, seeing as how I get lost in your links sections, are there any standout sites yuo’d recommend?

seeing as how I’m lazy, are there any sites or companies that would build a guitar for me, if I had the parts?

Also, warmoth.com is an amazing site, do you know of any more like it?

I fully agree with Bass and Lee. Vai, Satriani, and Malmsteen are indeed just (in my opinion) trying to prove that they can play anything with the guitar. I’d rather listen to somebody who can play songs that move me and have some feeling in them such as Hendrix or Page or Clapton, who are also very good, rather than a technical wizard like Vai who can play Bulgarian wedding music or Satriani playing Beethoven’s 5th Symphony. It’s about the feeling and the groove man, not the fact that you can play 160 notes in a bar with your feet, on some African scale that no one else knows of.

i had a look at that warmoth.com site, and i have to say its pretty impressive. but as for actually ordering custom guitars with all those specifications, i did not see anything on having the guitars prebuilt.

Eric Johnson is splendid. Carlos Santana is also good. I am not very knowledgable of his technical abilities, but I know he has a distinct sound and he (from what I have read) puts his creativity into his music. So he is up there, but in my opinion, I don’t really think he is one of the 15 best guitarists ever. As far as listening goes though, he’s on my list. Players that can make songs and compose and play songs that put you in a certain mood or make you feel something are definitely worth something especially if they are real good as a guitarist.

So your saying more along the lines of who currently is in a band that is too recent to be considered a legend? well, hopefully you can keep this thread going, because I am knowledgeless in modern bands.

I’ll be sure to do that. Thanks. Also, my Uncle has an extensive record collection from the 60’s 70’s in which he has all the greats such as the Yardbirds, Beck when he went solo, Zeppelin, Mothers of Invention, all four albums by Hendrix while he was still living, and much more like Cream and so on…

But so I can get my Uncle to record those records onto cassette because I have a portable cassette/radio player that I use.
