Yep I have a 550 for years I thought it was a cheap laminate until I made a soundport on the side upper bout. and discovered its all solid wood, Spruce top and mahogany back and sides, funny thing is I wanted to upgrade to a Takamine so I took my guitar along with me, the salesman could not believe his ears, and called a few others around to try to judge which was better, I left smiling with my 550 in hand and not spending a cent. Changes I made were put Tusq saddle and nut and play with light phosphor bronze strings Enjoy
Hey there anyone, I made what seems to be an amazing pawn shop find the other day. A really nice Charvel acoustic/electric cutaway..Model 550 CE. Never seen a Charvel acoustic…Can anyone give some info on it? Original price, type of wood etc. It’s in great shape and plays like a dream. I don’t think the pawn shop realized what they had. It’s certainly not top drawer quality (Korean made) but I’m loving the feel and finish and sweet tone, nice electronics, natural satin finish. Thanks

I own one as well. It is Japanese, produced from 1992-96. It is the Charvel version of the Jackson Infinity (which donneed the Dinky Headstock instead of the Gumby).
Mahogany Neck and Body. Bound Rosewood board.
Came stock with the following:
1-JACKSON J50M (NECK), JACKSON J92C (BRIDGE)
1-VOLUME, 1-TONE
3 WAY SWITCH
JT390 TUNAMATIC WITH STRINGS THRU BODY
If you decide to sell, let me kow. I can’t seem to find anyone willing to sell these.
I own one of these rare fiddles too. I’ve had mine for about 5 years and it hasn’t seen much playing time as of late. I am considering selling it … if interested, contact me. Mine is the Gold top paint version as well.

Can any one give me some info on the Charvel LS-1 Gold top? I just purchased one off of ebay and I love it. This my third Charvel the previous two being the splendid model 6.
I just picked up a jackson bass with the serial number 650011551. From pictures I have seen, this is an old model, but the serial numbers on the Jackson website don’t come close to mine. Anyone know where to look for info on my bass?

I had a 1989 Model 150 bought new. Japan made at that point. Local music shop was dumping them for $150 plus tax, no case or gig bag. Sold it last year for $175. Charvette was a decently made budget line.
Hi All,
I’ve got a 1995 USA Charvel Lacewood San Dimas that I’ve decided to put up for sale. I have never seen another Lacewood, but I’ve seen the Koa ones. The Koas seem to go on Ebay for $500-700.
Anyone have any idea if the lacewood is more, less or the same value?
It’s in great shape, with the only mod being that the satin finish neck was shot with a nice gloss finish.
Thanks!

I am just looking for more information on a charvel I just bought. The guy I purchased it off of said he bought it in 1992. Its a flying v with the double locking floyd rose w/ finetuners. It has a single coil pickup in the neck position and a humbucker in the bridge position. The serial number is 353882. Any info would be appreciated.
Based up the serial number its a import. Probally pointy V’s rather than the gibson rounded v.
Got a Charvel serial#372326 /24 fret /Floyd-Rose/ 2 EMG pick-ups/bolt on neck.Anyone with info on this guitar plz e-mail. Looking to sell.
holy crap. i need to know what the heck my guitar is. its definately a charvel, but i dont know too much more than that… serial number… is… 224468. it is a red geetar with the SSH setup, 5 way switching, made in fort worth, texas? anywho… it has a pick guard so that narrows it down a bit i guess… jackson pickups, an old kahler fixed bridge, and 1 tone and volume knobs
It was made in Japan.
(Originally posted 22:55:43 12/10/05)
Yeah, I’ve got a version the same, it’s a black singlebucker and the neck feels as if it was just a ‘little’ more than crafted on a CNC machine if you know what I mean. I believe these guitars are, however, "cheap korean models" as I’ve seen them for VERY cheap in certain places.
I hope someone replies, as I’m not a guitar detective – just a player : )
My serial number is 284642. If anyone has any information about these, please post it!

What you have is are Japan imports. Serial# may help with dating your guitar but not what model. A Single hum is most likely a Model 1 with a Charvel logo with a big ‘C’ and little "harvel" after.
The h/s/s could be a number of different models.

Hello.
What is the model of this bass in 90’s?
http://www.j-guitar.com/sp/sea/view_detail.cgi?pid=10790093
Please help me.
I have a Jackson with an Ebony finger board, a headstock with 4 tuners on top and 2 on bottom. It was made in the USA and it has two pickups, looks like a Soloist and has a real pretty figured Maple cap and matching headstock. It is Cherry Burst and is very heavy for as thin as it is. Someone told me that Jackson was forced to stop making the guitar with this headstock and that very few got out. Does anyone out there know anything about this?
Thanks

It is the greatset guitar in the world. A shreddin’ machine. SERIAL NUMBER: 900048. It is a Jackson Proffesional. I can’t find it anywhere on the net. It has the strongest piece of wood ever; some kind of maple. It once held 200 pounds on the neck and nothing broke or got scrached. MOTHER OF PEARL INLAYS. Nice. It’s got 3 pickups; 2 single-coil and a treble humbucker. It has active pickups. The single coils say JACKSON on them. There is a volume knob, a 5 way pickup selector, a tone knob and a boost switch of some sort that gives a trble boost or a bass boost. The volume knob has an EXTRA tone boost. It sounds like somebody replaced the original knob with a $500 wah thing. It has a Floyd Rose tremolo except it says on it "Licenced by Floyd Rose patents. Made in Germany by Schaller. JACKSON." Can you please tell me how much it costs, how rare it is, and when it was made?<
info if anyone knows about a Charvel Predator possibly made in 89.(serial 343242 Ft. Worth Texas)[from neckplate] It has a firecrackel finish black/orange Charvel logo written in cursave lettering. Not guitar shaped logo. Possibility that it was specially made for someone like Musicians Friend. Not guitar shaped logo. Looking for an accurate date of manufacturer. Fender has not much archives. Also does anyone know what the case looked like. shape, logo, type. thanks to any help. JP
I won a Charvel Predator. Manufactured in 1991 only. Mine is also firecrackel finish. Nice guitar. 1 3/4" neck, Jackson pickups, Floyd Rose.
Look up charvel catalogs predator was listed in 88 and 89 catalog. Back in mid 90’s I was talking to IMC who owned Charvel then, they said it was a Predator Firecrackel finish(I bought it used no info at purchase) (red orange black) according to serial number. I cant remember weather it was an 88 0r 89 that they said the year was. your 91 date could be correct also.
i got Ft.Worth Texas charvel with maple neck and fret boart

I am looking for a certain Jackson. In the Houston area a local guitarshop (now out of business) had an Archtop Tele with an Urban Camo paint job(like the new ESP’s) but this was in the early 80’s. I am probably SOL on that exact guitar, but if anyone has an Archtop Jackson Tele for sale….I am looking, e-mail me
I was sold a charvel Model 6 purported by the seller to have been built in the USA. The serial# is C607005. To whom or where must I go to verify this. I thank you for any help you can provide, Thanx Junior/Brooklyn NY
The charvel Model ^ was absolutly not ever manufactured in the USA, if it was it would be called a jackson soloist. the charvels where the Japan models of Jackson Charvel. Ive owned tow of these in the 80s and although they are fabulous they aint american in any way.

I purchased a model 6 new in ’89 and a used early 90’s in ’97 and I have never seen anything to indicate that either of these(or any)were made in the USA. But don’t fret, there is very little that seperates the high quality made in Japanese(sic) guitars from their American counterparts.
It is sunburst. and the book I have doesn’t mention sunburst.
Here are the stats: 22 frets. S/S/H – they are Jackson brand active pickups. Shark fin inlays. 3 knobs, one 5 way selector strip.
Charvel on the headstock, NOT like a guitar, it looks like a Jackson headstock. 6 tuners on one side. Locking trem.
Made in Japan. Serial number 348065.
Email me please.

have a charvel model 6, 1980’s , serial number c606070, looking to sell, need prices.
I have an ’85 Charvel w/ rising sun graphics. It’s a San Dimas #5286 with 2 humbuckers. The neck is original, but warped. Not sure if it can be replaned or not. A few scratches on the back but the front is in real nice shape. It’s got a Kahler trem. Does anyone know what this might be worth on E-bay? All I’ve seen are mint guitars on there, just wondering what a road worn axe might be worth. Thanks.
What Charvel is this?

Would like any info on this guitar, Tele Sunburst Body, Mother of Peral pick guard, 3 single coil pick ups, front two say Jackson, strat or tele head, s/n #384405. I cannot find like this and would appreciate any help. Thx

What is this guitar worth? I want to get one but need to know fair market value on it. $300 $500 $800???
Went digging a little deaper this time round and found this on a fan site of catalogues from years past… have to say that the memoory is a little faulty as the TX Custom in question is from 1992 (just need to wait a few more years for to go vintage 😉 )http://audiozone.dk/cm/displayimage.php?pid=748&fullsize=1 Even explains the push-pull function! Learned something new today. I can go to rest in the bed happy!
Cheers!

Bought a sunbusrt MOP Charvel TX Custom (tele) from a dealer in Chi-town abot 20 years ago. Great ax and from what I’ve been able to deduce, it’s a Japan Charvel from the late 80’s (bought this in 1989) and they are few and far between. The dif from a standard tele – aside from the three pups – is the solid bridge plate. Lots of mass on this one. The bridge Pup is as close as one could hope for from a 52 no caster. HOT. Also has a push-pull on the tone pot. Not sure (haven’t drawn out the schematic) but it appears to be a phase reverse (or "humbuck" when using two pups?). Got this to resell and the buyer wanted the neck shaved to be closer to what Charvel/Jackson was offering in their San Dimas collection. Took about 3/16" to a 1/4" of the back off and refinished it to match. Best mod I ever made. I guess that after he took it home he ran into a little $ prob as I found it in a local pawn shop two years later and bought it back (made money twice on this one!). The neck plate on the back says "Jackson/Charvel" – ser # 3826xx but as I said, I know it’s about 20 years old – not a mid 90’s.
I would really appreciate an info on my red Charvel guitar ser.no.602585. It has two single coils(Jackson) and one humbucker(not orig.?) Bartolini. Kahler trem, micro switches, head stock says Charvel byJackson/Charvel. Any idea of value? Thanks, Gregg
I paid about 500$ used for this acoustic electric guitar a few years ago .. Any one have any info on what it might be worth or any other info ??
Please could anyone help? I have owned a Charvel Super Strat guitar from new in 1986, it was one of a few Charvel guitars brought into the UK when JHS took up the UK distribution. As I was working for Harman Audio at this time and attended the BMF in 1986 for the launch I brought the guitar from the importers after the show.It is white pearlescent finish with a bridge humbucker and 2 single coils with 5 way selector switch a la Strat,it has a Khaler Trem finished in Black Chrome,it has a maple neck of exremely low D profile, believed to be a Valley Arts neck fiited to the few that came to the show to impress the Brits, apparently? It has a pointy headstock ( not reverse ) and has Charvel in "Guitar" script along it, it has bolt on neck with a 4 screw chrome plate with Charvel/Jackson USA inscribed on it, it is NOT active, please could anyone tell me the Model/Type of this superb instument, and a rough idea of it’s value, it is in MINT condition with no marks or wear.Hope someone will put me out of my misery,
cheers.
Paul
Hi All Charvel users, some more info re my previous posting: The seriel No: 231187, 1 Volume and 1 Tone, keys have Jackson logo on them, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, plain white fret dots, very thick body and very heavy guitar, black scratchplate and all hardware is black chrome, and finally written on the neck plate is the following Charvel by Jackson Seriel No, PO Box 2344, Port Worth, TX76113. USA and I may have brought it in 1985 and not 1986, any help please, cheers.

Can anyone give some background on my strat-style guitar, i.e. model, where made, body material. It is has a small logo, under Charvel, says Jackson/Charvel. Maple neck/maple cap. S/S/H. 1 volume 1 tone 3 mini toggles. Light weight guitar. Black hardware. Standard tremolo bridge. Black face headstock. I can’t get any info on this anywhere !

This popular thread has been given its own page : Re: Charvel LS1 Bass
Hi…
I bought mine brand new in late ’95 for $499 Canadian. (I was playing it in the back of the store when it was tagged for $799 just as one of the staff was going around putting Christmas sale stickers on everything in the store.) Personally, I love it. I did e-mail Charvel about it once years and years ago, and they told me there were fewer than 50 made. Mine is black; they came in black and goldtop. I believe 1995 was the only production year. Charvel put the value at $1100 US, but that’s one of those over-inflated ridiculous figures guitar manufacturers throw out there. Honestly, I don’t know the Blue Book value of it, though I’d love to. Never gonna sell it, though. It’s been too good to me.

I was told it was worthless, little did I know almost 10 years later Fender now owns Jackson amking the san dimas models a treasure, I would not sell it for anything less that what is went for back in 1984, in fact keep it, i am sorry i did not keep mine, as in 1997 i bought another one but was from ontario plant, if only…
