: Just wondering if there are any makes of the clear dan armstrong like Dave Grohl's but left-handed

yes but only one. i had the oppeotunity several years ago to speak with dan armstrong via telephone for about 2 hours. very nice guy. he autographed a bunch of pictures for me. the only and i mean only lefty instrument [plexiglass] he ever made was shipped to some guy named paul mccartney who i think was in a pretty big band once or twice. it was the only lefty he ever made. talk about rare, the only left handed one and it belongs to paul mccartney.

Re: left-handed clear

Would you like a photograph of that guitar? I have one and can email it to you.

Dan Armstrong Bridge plate

Hi there! I have an original Dan Armstrong modified (read "Ruined") by its previous owner (read "Great Big Jerk") and the only parts I'm missing are the bridge plate and the pickguard. The guard is not big deal, as it is ebayed frequently, but the bridge plate is quite hard to find... Can anyone give a clue on it.

Thank you so Much.

Juan

anyone give a lil info...?

Greeting,
I have a Lucite Dan Armstrong guitar serial # A817D, could anyone date this and possibly give a lil info on this guitar, possible value?I
Id say its a lil less then very good condition. 1 Slight surface scratch,no yellowing in lucite. Schaller tuners. Neck has slight wear on frets.
I was given the guitar by a ex-girlfriend as a present. I no longer play due to injury. Also have a custom made DiMarzio 1/4 lb pickup with toggle switch which slides in to pickup cavity, made by a guy who did same work to Joe Perry of Aerosmith. Please help?? ; D
Thanks

JoePo

Re: anyone give a lil info...?

Hello,

your guitar was built in 1969. One of mine is # 1001 and way back in 1978 the people at Ampeg dated it as 1969.

I'm sorry to hear you cannot play. I burnt my hand a few years back, and only by miracle did my playing come through unscratched (I've been fully pro player since 1985 and depend 100 % on this for income...).
I hope your ability to play will eventually return to you.

Greetings

Teye

Anybody want to get rid of a Dan Armstrong Re-issue?

Hey, I'm interested in tracking down a reasonably priced Dan Armstrong re-issue clear. If anybody is interested, drop me an email and if you've got some pictures, then we might be able to work out a deal! Take care.

I have a London bass if interested.

Help - determining the value and age

Could someone help me determine the value of my Dan Armstrong, as well as help me with the age? My father was an engineer for Ampeg in the 60's and 70's and this guitar was purchased (or given to him) back then. I'm very new to this so any help or resources would be great. Here's a link to pictures:

Hi John, What is the serial no. of the guitar. This is stamped on the end of the neck where it is bolted to the body, and can be seen through the lucite when playing. This will help determine the age. Are you thinking of selling this guitar. If so, i would be very interested.
Yours sincerely, Danny Armstrong.

Danny,

I just saw your email and have sent a reply. Thank you for contacting me.

Re: Dan Armstrong Fretless Bass For Sale

: I have owned a Dan Armstrong fretless since the early 70's. It's probably a 1969. I am not a dealer, just an old bass player. I no longer play and I have decided that it should go to someone who does and who will appreciate it. I want to hear from a serious collector who wants to offer my baby a good home. Write so that we can discuss the particulars.

Re: Dan Armstrong Fretless Bass For Sale

Please send me more information on your Dan Armstrong Fretless Bass or call me at: 954-478-4244. Thank you.

Ibanez Plexi parts

I recently picked up a Dan Armstrong knock-off body, possibly an Ibanez model(?), but am having a problem locating a bridge/tailpiece for it. It appears to use something similar to a tune-a-matic bridge, but the post spacing is 3.125 inches, which is a bit unusual. Any ideas where to locate the missing parts?

- Steve

Re: Ibanez Plexi parts

After a bit more research, it appears this is not an Ibanez model... mine does not use the conventional 24 fret Ampeg style neck (therefor the tailpiece is closer to the butt of the body). Also, the two pickups are mounted in a neck/bridge configuration, as opposed to the middle/bridge version as on most clones. Any ideas what brand this is?

Dan Armstrong 'Sliding Pick-up Model' (London)

I wouls really like to hear from anyone that owns one of these, or anyone who can testify as to how they play. I am considering buying one of these, should a decent offer arise. Anyway, all comments welcome I really hvaen't found a lot of info when surfing the net.

I used to know Dan in the Seventies when he lived in kilburn and sold some of these guitars for him, If you get the chnace to buy one snap it up they are dead sweet. Solid mahogany, they have fantastic sustain and the sliding pickup along with the humbucking type pickup on a slider allows you to get any sound you want. the tone control when turned to the full treble osition goes to single coil operation, so with this and the sliding pickup will give any variation of sound and tone. Dan wanted this to be the guitarists guitarand I believe it was. The Stones have some along with Bowie and many others. If you hear of any others going please let me know because I am looking for one. They were available in long or short scale versions.
Good luck, Brian Keen

Re: Dan Armstrong 'Sliding Pick-up Model' (London)

I have a Dan Armstrong sliding pickup model for sale. It's in very good condition except for having had a neck break at the body end at some time in the past, now professionally repaired. Anyone interested let me know.

Re: Dan Armstrong 'Sliding Pick-up Model' (London)

I have owned a 1972 Dan Armstrong bass with a sliding pickup for about 15 years, and love it. The tones range from a high, toppy jazz feel to a total Muddy-Waters powerhouse feel depending on where you've put the pickup - the pickup doesn't hiss or pop as you slid it - the tome just shifts, mid-sustained-note if you want - GREAT instrument. Mine is either an original factory fretless, or one hell of a good job of fret-buffing - it sounds glorious.

Good luck finding one to buy, mate.

I'm selling mine right now on Ebay... if you see this post in time, go for it. If not, again, good luck.

Gerard

Thick DA neck for thin DA neck

I've acquired a NOS Dan neck that was never used. The neck was never even lacquered nor were the mounting holes drilled. The neck is in great shape. The problem is, for me, the neck has too thin of a profile. I know some people hate thin necks, some people hate fat necks, I'm looking for someone who is looking to trade a fat DA neck for a thin DA neck. I also have a "medium" thick - the only way I can describe it Dan neck - part of a whole guitar - Seerial # 1599. Thanks for your interest.

Dan Arnstrong Clear Guitar Re-issue

I'm desperately looking for a new DA CLEAR guitar. One of the re-issues. I'm in LA. Anyone have one ?

Original bridge/RT/RB

Hi,

Does anybody have an original wooden bridge part that they would consider selling for a 69 armstrong guitar? Or perhaps consider getting a copy of theirs made up by a pro for the right price, as mine has been replaced with a plastic one which isn't really working out...

I'm also after original Rock Bass (RB) and Rock Treble (RT) pickups to complete my set if anyone would consider selling...

Many thanks,
Rich
