Martin Ed Sheeran X Signature Edition

C.F. Martin & Co. unveil the Ed Sheeran X Signature Edition, their 2nd collaboration with the popular singer-songwriter.

Martin Ed Sheeran X Signature Edition

This new signature guitar comes straight from Martin Custom Shop, featuring the "x" graphic prominently on the headstock, fretboard and body, which refers to Sheeran's second album "x" ("Multiply").

This new release follows up on the success of the LX1E Ed Sheeran Signature Edition, and just like the 1st signature, Ed will be donating 100% of his royalties from the sales of each guitar to the East Anglia's Children's Hospices (E.A.C.H.), a UK-based charity located in his hometown Suffolk. This organization supports families and cares for young people with life-threatening conditions, serving several UK countries including the area where Sheeran himself grew up.

Ed Sheeran said, "It was a huge privilege working with the Martin team to create another Signature Edition guitar. I've had the chance to bring the new model on the road with me already, and I'm excited that my fans will be able to purchase one of their own, with all the proceeds going to EACH, a charity very close to my heart."

E.A.C.H. Chief Executive Graham Butland said, "This is the second time Ed Sheeran has launched a Martin Guitar Signature Edition in aid of EACH and we're absolutely delighted that he has once again chosen to support us through sales of this special guitar! The first guitar was a real success and raised a significant amount of money for the charity. We'd like to thank Ed, C.F. Martin & Co, and absolutely everyone involved in the project. Ed has been an Ambassador for the charity for almost a year and has shown us tremendous support in that time, donating clothes for online auctions and paying a visit to our Treehouse hospice in Ipswich. Not only will the guitar raise much-needed funds for the charity, but will also greatly raise the profile of EACH and the vital care and support we provide to life-threatened children, young people and their families."

The Ed Sheeran X Signature Edition is simply a personalized version of the compact Martin LX1E guitar, built to the specs of the artist. Although not much information is out yet, we can assume that it will follow the same specs as the first one, having a short scale length of 23" and a comfortably thin nut width of 1 11/16". It is mentioned that the guitar will come with a solid spruce top supported by HPL koa back and sides.

As the name implies, the guitar will feature the "x" logo of his six times platinum-selling album, inlayed in solid koa on the solid spruce wood top. The same "x" logo is also embedded onto the fretboard and the headstock, with a bright green color. For plugging in, the guitar comes with Fishman Isys T electronics, which gives this small guitar the same big amplified sound as found on the bigger models.

VP of Brand Marketing for C.F. Martin & Co Amani Duncan concludes, "I take great pride in the relationship we have with Ed. He is not only an incredible talent but also an extremely compassionate human being. Over 182 years, Martin Guitar has had the privilege of working alongside legendary Artists, and we are proud to be able to continue this long-standing tradition and musical journey with Ed Sheeran."

The Martin Ed Sheeran X Signature Edition is available for pre-order beginning on the 17th of February, 2015. I've seen an online seller giving it a price of tag $549, head over to Martin Guitar for more information and to pre-order.
