Gibson applies a new swirly look to the familiar Les Paul guitar, producing the new Les Paul Studio Swirl line.
The Les Paul Studio line is dedicated to giving hard working musicians the performance and tone they demand, and Gibson has been working and improving at it since 1983.
Now Gibson has added a new line with cosmetic upgrades – The Les Paul Studio Swirl.
It applies the same tried and tested formula that made the first Les Paul Standards with humbuckers a legendary guitar back in 1957.
It features a down to earth business package, less on frills, heavy on where it matters – performance and sound. The same stringent quality is applied, only this time Gibson added four new swirl finishes and made the Swirl line relatively easier on the pocket compared to its more expensive brothers.
Gibson employed a minimalist finishing approach that results in a thin nitrocellulose finish. It also does not have a body binding to give it a more organic feel.
The body has the same classic tonewood as the Les Paul Standards, consisting of mahogany with a solid carved maple top. It also features strategically placed tone chambers for resonance and weight reduction. The solid-mahogany neck is glued in using the “quarter-sawn” grain orientation. The sturdy built will ensure that your fingers will be playing around the exotic Obeche fretboard for a long time. Gibson guarantees the Swirl Line’s play-ability with its ’50s era neck profile.
The Les Paul Studio Swirls are all equipped with Gibson 490R humbuckers in the neck and 498T in the bridge both based on the original PAF humbuckers. It also comes equipped with a Tune-o-matic bridge paired to a Stud-Mounted Stop Bar tailpiece.
