This guitar is now part of the PRS Core production line in Stevensville, Maryland, giving left-handed players more access to quality instruments in time for the company’s 30th Anniversary celebrations.

First introduced in 1985 and considered as the original PRS, the Custom 24 continues to be among the most popular guitars in their line up, carrying the PRS brand to more and more guitar players. As such, it is only natural for the company to make special commemorative versions of the instrument to celebrate their big milestone – that is thriving in the cut-throat guitar manufacturing business for thirty years!.

Left handed Custom 24 guitars are produced by the company every once and a while, but this year’s limited run batch is extra special. The company describes the release as, “proudly celebrating the quality, innovation, and history of PRS Guitars”.

This guitar is personally designed by Paul Reed Smith himself, featuring a new set of 85/15 uncovered humbucker pickups, which are designed for improved clarity and extended high and low frequencies. The resulting tone of the guitar is said to be ideal for modern music and its design mirrors how PRS developed over the last three decades.

Following standard Custom 24 builds, the new Lefty Custom 24 features a maple top and mahogany back, carved into a left handed version of the double cutaway electric guitar shape that is undeniably PRS. The carved maple top is available either in flamed or quilt grain, and comes in a variety of finishes, including Azul, Black Cherry, Black Gold Burst, Faded Whale Blue, Gray Black, Honey Violet Violet

The guitar’s mahogany neck is carved into a pattern regular shape and topped by a rosewood fretboard. As the name implies, it has a total of 24 frets that are divided into its 25″ scale length. The width of the neck at the nut is 1 21/32″, and both the fretboard and headstock are bound. Serving as the guitar’s fretboard marker and unique identifier are the 30th Anniversary Birds mother of pearl inlays. The headstock is topped by a rosewood veneer to match the fretboard and it comes with an inlaid PRS logo.

Other features of the guitar include PRS tremolo and PRS Phase III Locking Tuners, both of which keep the string in tune and stable. The new 85/15 pickups are wired to a 5-way blade pickup selector switch, that allows for a wider variety of tones from a HH (double humbucker) configuration guitar.

Pricing information will soon be available, but we can expect it to be a bit on the expensive end, especially since the company only plans to make fewer than 200 units of the 30th Anniversary Lefty Custom 24. For more information and other details, head over to PRS Guitars.
