I have a Les Paul TV model guitar. Someone once told me it was made in 1959. I am trying to find out how you know for sure. I have the serial number. Also, trying to find out approximate value. How does the value increase in respect you age of guitar etc. Thank you for any help.
Check Gibson’s website. In "Exchange" section, under "Service & Support," you’ll find Vintage Info that has the serial numbers for dating your git. Good luck.

Les Paul invented the first solid-body electric known as the Gibson Les Paul, then came along Leo Fender who invented the Fender Stratocaster(the model T of guitars).
I say model T because it was the guitar made that everyone could afford. FYI Les Paul also invented four track recording which led to multi-track recording used now…

: i need 2 no for a school assignment who invented the electric guitar
I’m pretty sure it was Les Paul. His first electric guitar, if he actually called it that, was made from a rail raod tie. LP also invented multi-track recording as well as the phase shifter. As I recall he was a tireless inovator who probably had many more creations to his credit. Do a web search on him and you may find your answers. Also, try Biography.com. good luck, Bill.
: :Me and my partner, Danial need to know how much the averge electric guitar cost for a music assignment.
Apparently, the Gibson costs up to $10 000 dollars! That’s on of the most expensive, I hear. But we need to know soon, because it’s due next Monday! Plz, plz, help!
Yo fucking dumpass. Do you even own a guitar. "um….i think les paul(lester paul is his real name) invented the electric guitar"
Make me weep someone. Lester Paul just made some cool designes and mics. Leo Fender made the first true electric guitar. I don’t know
who invented the semiaucustics but Leo Fenders firm made the tele and that was the first one, you dumpass cockmother.

maybe you should get your shit straight. the electric pickup was around in one form or another before the turn of the century, long before the telecaster. rickenbacker’s frying pan was out in the thirties and les paul’s log in the fourties. fender didnt have a real electric electric the 50s. gibson had the first patent in the early thirties. oh and his real name was lester polsfuss. dumpass?
you fucking retard youre so dumb you cant spell dumbass you put dumpass and i think fender is much better than les paul Sincerely #1 marilyn manson fan
marilyn manson is a goth gay faget who got his ribs removed to suck him self. and i meant to say dumpass biotch. also, i think that gibson is superior to gay ass fender! haha.

: Wow dist_rocker is pretty smart. Oh yeah, his name is Lester Polfius.
Electric Guitars made really huge rock concerts, which really got too big for their own britches. We have too many rich, and when the poor good musicians could play loud enough to stay heard they got into the same trap anybody taking too much gets into. Too rich, too much of the same. Burn out…they get on the path of liberace, too much of a good thing isn’t good for nobody
: : : : i need 2 no for a school assignment who invented the electric guitar
the acoustic guitar was invented in the 1500’s, because people wanted a bigger variety of sound than the string instruments of the time. however there wasn’t one true inventor, because there have been so many models produced over the past 500 years, that no one can take credit. Maybe look into someone who made their own version of the electric guitar to get some insight. (Leo Fender, Les Paul)

Pretty much the first electric guitar was the Rickenbacker "Frying Pan", an aluminium Hawaiian guitar (lap steel) from the 1920s. The Gibson ES-150 was the first mass-produced Electric Spanish (ES) guitar, a standard Gibson acoustic modified with a single coil pickup (nicknamed the "Charlie Christian pickup," after the jazz guitarist who is credited as the first to play electric lead guitar on records). The first solid bodied electic guitar that was offered in a catalog as a standard model is generally recognised as another Rickenbacker, in the late 1940s. By the time that Les Paul was shopping around his Log (prototype solid bodied guitar), Paul Bigsby had already produced a one-off single cutaway solidbody for the country singer/guitaris Merle Travis. This guitar, which was seen in and around So. Calif. for some time, is generally regarded as the inspiration for the Fender Telecaster, released in 1949/50. The Gibson Les Paul model did not appear until 1952.

the electric guirar was "morphed" or "mutated" if you will. For the crowds, the acustic was not lous enough. People began making their uitars with built in Mics. eventually people realived that by playing with the input to the transistor, the tone could be changed. After a few years, people put knobs on their guitars that changed the eletrical flow. Eventually they created what we now call the electric guitar….Help you at all?
: Albert Einstein (sp?)It’s not know specifically, but both "Leo" and "Les Paul" (among others) were goin’ at it at the same time. The ‘solid body’ electric bass (Fender ‘P’ [Precision] was already being built and Leo Fender held/holds the patent. So, the Fender Precision solid body electric bass, legally, was invented by "Fender". To clear up ‘this’ up, the "Fender Telecaster" bass was identical, visually, to the first "Fender Precisions". This I know for a fact.
Les Paul actually ‘made’ the first electric. Leo was the first to mass produce ‘his’ version of it. Totally based on Les Paul’s handmade design of the solid body. Apart from that. Gibson made electric hollow-bodies WAYYYY before Leo got started. Sorry but dist was right.

I have a ’86 Ebony Gibson Les Paul Studio and could get a Custom for 2K brand new customshop ’68 reissue. I actually have the $ but wonder if the upgrade is worth it? Is there a significant difference in action, sound, etc.?
Recently purchased a 70 les paul, but I think the previous owners changed the pickups and the nut. Does anyone have information on what original pieces were??? Any help is appreciated.
i have a 69 gibson les paul gold top with the mini hummbugers very nice with shaller tuners other then that it is all origenal im looking for about $4000
Looking for opinions on this model. I realize no maple top, waist cut, but is the body thinner?? Looking to find a Gibson
for $400-500 thats in decent shape. Can get a SL new for 600. Please help.
I am also looking for a slash sig Les Paul. Except I’m trying to find a left handed one. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated.
I have a 1999 LP Classic that I’m thinking about selling to buy a Standard. Basically I can get a Standard for the same price as the Classic which right now is a fantastic deal considering the price of new LP Standards. The main differences are obviously going to be the neck and the 500T vs. 498T pickups. Does anyone have any input on this "upgrade?" I’m figuring that down the line the Standard will be worth more anyhow and that the Standard will give me less harsh clean tones in the bridge pick-up…
I own a Classic and have played a Standard, and actually, I think you get nicer clean tones on the Classic’s bridge pickup. This, of course, depends on how you’ve got your amp set up.
I really think the Classic is a better guitar in general (it’s beyond me why they’re less expensive), but you’re right, the Standard will probably be worth more. Still, I don’t think it’s a major upgrade, especially for the newer Gibsons… The quality is coming down pretty badly.
i have a seventies standard, that has a maple neck, the gibson has been filed off thehead but itstill says Les Paul model, it has an AWESOME thinner neck than the other ones ive played, i was looking about 2000 canadian for it
I’m looking for a Les Paul Custom to play the crap out of, not to collect. I would prefer black, but if the price is right I really don’t care. All that matters to me is that the neck is straight, there’s no structural damage and the binding must be intact. Otherwise I don’t care about condition of the harware, frets or electonics.
: trying to find the date of my axe s/n62396XX2 one of the "Gem" series
Whoever responded to rachel and said thats not right, you were right. They only made the " Gem" series for several years starting in 1996 and ending in 1998. Therefore it would seem the axe in question is a 96, just like it says in the serial number. Perhaps the 6 at the front denotes the month of manufacture? I’m sure some other Les Paul freak out there could answer that one.
: I have 2 of them what do you want to know?
This numbered instrument 0000-3000 was manufactured in Kalamazoo. Allegedly hand made like the old pieces, these guitars were some of the last made there before the move to Nashville. Due to manufacturing problems, one supposes, none of these guitars were made in 1977, the actual 25th year anniversary, but came into production in 1978. The total number of these "special order only" guitars is, according to the factory numbers is somewhere in the neighborhood of 3000 instruments between 1978-80. The number fifty was added to the guitar to commemorate Mr. Paul’s 50th anniversary in show biz along with the 25th anniversary of the guitar that bears his name. How that number was determined is one that will propogate discussion, I am sure. The instruments are magnificent, a custom "Custom", if you will. Most were the tobacco finish with some floating around in other colors. I have seen wine red, black, and even a white one and a natural one. The validity of the natural is questionable, but, after all, this was a custom order instrument not stocked in stores. The hardware is gold, with gold/silver Gibson tuners. Inlay on the headstock is an ornate floral 25/50 Les Paul, with the split block inlays on the 3 piece laminated and figured maple neck. Gold engraved bell truss rod cover, a brass nut, and a flawless ebony slab complete the the fat neck section. The body is straight LP Custom…2 piece maple top over mahogany. I have seen a wide range of flame in the tops of these guitars…from none to heavy. Mine is a medium flame, not too flashy and not too dull. A TP-6 tailpece completes the stringing construction. Electronically, there is a coil tap that controls what I have been told are possibly "Dirty Fingers" pups. Whatever they are, they are potent. The control cavity is interesting in that it is significantly larger than the standard control cavity. Upon opening it, one finds the controls and electronics shielded within a large metal device. The guitar is stout to say the least, and came with the original standard Les Paul case from Gibson.
Take it to a Pawn Shop that deals in musical instruments and ask them how much they will loan you against it. Take that number and multiply it times four…that’s the real value of the guitar. Generally speaking, they will loan about one fourth of the value (don’t bother asking what they think it’s worth because you won’t get a straight answer). Pawn Brokers really dictate instrument prices anyway.
: I desperately need a Les Paul Junior or special with p-90’s. I really want a vintage one but I am a college student and don’t have much money to spend
WHAT PRICE RANGE ARE YOU LOOKING IN.
Even in poor condition it would reach a few thousand easy. Just cause of its year make. Don’t settle for a few hundred dollars. But make sure all the numbers are on it. Paper work and an original case also help.
I have a Standard which was damaged by fire and then restored. The serial number was lost in the restoration, but I am told that the guitar is a 1958, 59 or 60. Anybody interested?

I HAVE A 1960 LES PAUL SPECIAL THAT I PURCHASED NEW. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IT IS WORTH. IT IS MINT AND I HAVE THE ORIGINAL CASE. I HAVE PICTURES THAT I CAN E-MAIL.
Just purchased a LP Studio, I love it, sometimes when I press too hard on the lower frets, it produces an undesirable tone. I have been playing acoustic for 22 years, and I’m used to pressing very hard. I guess I have to get used to being gentle. Has anyone experienced this? I paid $1100 for it in West Palm Beach Florida. Ruby Red.
I have an opportunity to purchase a 2000 Gibson LP Custom from a private seller. The private seller is asking for $1,950.00. He claims its in dead mint condition. I was assuming this guitar would cost a lot more. Is this an average asking price or is there something more I should know and be on the look out for?
les paul special model for sale- black body, new gold speed knobs, just been re-strung, crome machine heads, crome bridge/tailpiece…….open to offers/or part exchange for other les paul
Hi, I bought a Les Paul Standard new in 1991. By the serial number, i know it was made in 1990. I have a question that has been bugging me for the last 10 years. When I bought the guitar, the salesman told me it was equipped with ’57 Classic pickup. I think that was the name, it was a reissue of the PAF, i believe. However, since then I’ve noticed that all LPS have the 490 series in them. I thought the salesman was lying then, and I still do, but i am very curious. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If someone could email me a response, it would be ideal, but i’ll check back on the board as well. Thank you very much
Yeah the salesman was mistaken on the 57 pickup thing unless they were installed as an aftermarket. Usually the 57 pickups are installed in the custom shop on Les Paul Florentines, Les Paul Elegants, Les Paul Catalinas, Custom Shop Les Paul Classics but they are never installed in the regular Les Paul Standards off the line unless it is a custom shop Standard which will be rare but indeed possible. The 490 and 498 are the pickups the typical standard uses.
Hey, I was wondering if you have any pictures of Les Paul with his guitars or of him alone. If you do or you know of any good websites please let me know. Thank you!
Sam Ash is seeing these things for $599. Looks and feels good to me, but I’m new to electrics …. friends say I should consider an American Strat for a little more money ….. Any suggestions?
I bought a Les Paul Studio DC and sold my US Fender Strat. The Les Paul is fabulous and I find its tones far more usable than the Fender. You may feel differently so try both and see which one you like best, but for my money the Les Paul is much better – and that’s a good price.
Have you plugged it in to an amp yet?
If your answer is NO…try that (and make sure to turn the amp on).
If the answer is YES…turn the amp on.
Next step…try the knobs.
If that still doesn’t answer your question, go back to Drums:)
Hi everybody, I,d like to identify a Gibson original 1959 model, the info I have is that it carries the words "Les Paul Series" (and not Les Paul Model) on the headstock….What model would that be, a real LesPaul, a LesPaul Junior, a SG…? Thx for any help
Re: les paul classic vs. standard (2000 model year)
Tim
Hi , i have 2 standards and 3 customs and can tell ya, the standards are better than the classic (classics have thinner necks and yellow/creame inlays) the necks are a personal pref, but the inlays on the standard are much better
I recently purchased a Les Paul special. I would like to know its approximate value. I can’t seem to find any information on this model in the blue book of electric guitars, so I’m hoping you can help. It has an all mahogany body and neck with a clear coat semi-gloss finish. It has a rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays. It has two chrome covered humbuckers, two volume controls, two tone controls, three way toggle switch, black headstock with Gibson Les Paul Special written in gold. It has three plastic gray tuners on each side that say Gibson Deluxe on them. All the hardware is chrome. It says made in U.S.A. on the back of the headstock. It is in excellent condition. Any ideas on its value? The body is thick like the older models, not like the Smartwood models. Thank you for any assistance.
I think it’s probably worth around $250, I’ll buy it of you if you want, if your interested mail me at the address above([email protected]).

I remember my senior most couzin singing this song to me when I was very small. I remember just the first two lines.

Re: Looking for the lyrics to : "Counting Colors in a rainbow"
Carla Mauri
Aloha,
I lived in Indonesia in the 1950’s and used to listen to
Radio Australia’s hit parade. One of the songs that made it
it to the hit parade was a song by Les Paul and Mary Ford:
"Counting colors in a rainbow". I have been looking for the
lyrics to that song, and have not been able to find them.
The refrain goes something like this:
"Counting colors in a rainbow, when the sun has made a rainbow,
In the colors that I see above me, I count the blessings of
someone who loves me. "
If anyone knows where I could possibly find the lyrics I will
be very grateful.
Hello, I just bought a 1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom, just about all original, in wine red, minor player wear. I payed $1075.00 for it. Hope this helps. -=Alex=-
: I was wondering what my LP would be worth today. 1974 per the serial number. Wine color, all original.
Hi Alex Im looking for a 1972 to 1974 custom tabaco sunburst
for my husbands birthday suprise All the les paul guitars seem to be so expensive Im in Australia any advise where to start thanks Lilly
:
I purchased a used epi Les Paul Custom in the mid 70’s and still own it. I was wondering if anybody knew what it might be worth? It is in excellent condition. Thanks in Advance
I wasn’t aware epi made les paul models in the 1970’s. I’m guessing, however good the condition, it won’t be worth as much (dollar-wise) as a gibson les paul from the same era. (sentimental value, that’s another story…) However, if a long distance call is ok with you, call Bill’s Music in Peabody, Massachusetts at 1-978-977-9141 and ask Bill that question. He’s a great friend, one of the best and most knowledgeable authorities and dealers of les pauls here in the Northeast. mike loce.
Re: I NEED TO FIND A ELECTRIC GUITAR LES PAUL FOR $0300-$500 USE OR NEW!!!

: : I NEED TO BUY A LES PAUL FOR 300-500 USE OR NEW I DON’T CARE
: : PLEASE E-MAIL ME OK
Hello Helen,
I have a Les Paul 1976 standard. This guitar has grover tuning maching heads and the neck was recently re-furbished. It also has Gibson standard pickups. The electronic, neck, bridge, machine head, pickups, stock, neck to body connection and flip switchs are in perfect working condition. It sounds very rich. The only marks on this baby is the pick guard is missing and there is a belt buckle mark on the back. The finish is Brown Burst. It is original. I was offered $600 dollar from a Gibson dealer last year. Since then his business has moved to California. I am willing to part with this baby for $450. If you are interested you can e-mail me at [email protected] or [email protected]. Look foward to hearing from you. I would also like to know that you are going to give this guitar a good home. It has over 1200 stage appearences over the last 25 years. And has been very reliable. The reason I am getting rid of this is because I have stopped playing and have limited space.
My boyfriend has several times while out listening to bands remarked he would really like a Les Paul guitar. I would like to get him one, but help, he didn’t say which one he specifically likes. He is what I would call a basement hobby player. Isn’t in a band, but likes "good quality". Which one would suit him and should I buy new?
Well unless you want to spend about $2000 or more on a Gibson Les Paul, i wouldn’t recommend getting a Gibson. A lot of guitar players love the Epiphone Les Paul Standard, many believe it has the same tone and feel as the well known gibson. Epiphones can start at around $400 or less and get up near a thousand. i am currently looking at a epiphone les paul standard myself…so i would recommend that as your most affordable choice. But if you are willing to pay something in the 4 digit range, get a Gibson Les Paul Standard or something like that.

I know for a fact he’s still alive(he’s about 85) and living in Jersey somewhere..He also still plays local clubs, with friends, and is collecting the "Les Paul Recording" guitars(from the 1970’s) on his travels. More I can’t tell ya, ’cause I don’t know. I’d love to meet the guy and jam. mike loce.
LP is alive and well. He performs every Monday night (2 shows) at the Iridium Jazz Club in NYC. I got to see and meet him last night. I got him to sign my 1971 LP Deluxe Gold-Top! He can’t play as much as he used to, but is still a wonder to watch. He’s also a very funny guy – he busts everyones balls!

I was intrigued about the Les Paul Gem. Don’t they make it anymore? From my limited understanding, it was a Studio with P-90’s and custom colors, right? I was talking to someone who was looking for a "Pro Deluxe", and it struck me that the Gem was practically the same guitar. But the thing is, I don’t know when Gibson stopped producing them (they’re not in the 2000 catalog), and they are, no joke, impossible to find where I am,(Boston). Any additional info on this guitar would be appreciated.
: I was intrigued about the Les Paul Gem. Don’t they make it anymore? From my limited understanding, it was a Studio with P-90’s and custom colors, right?
———–
These were a limited edition model that was discontinued in 1997 or ’98. I bought and still own my 1996 Gem "Topaz" model. I used to see the occasional Emerald, Sapphire, or Ruby Gem model for a little while there, but they’re now all gone for sure. My Topaz model is the only Topaz I’ve ever seen.
These have the heavy weight attack of a Les Paul with that classic P-90 mid-range grind when you crank one up. The older Les Paul Pro Deluxe (from the late 70s) was essentially the same as the Gem, but with binding and without the fancy translucent paint job.
ALL of the Les Paul Pro Deluxe models actually had a former life as a Les Paul Deluxe, a Les Paul model that had mini-humbucker pickups similar to those used with the Firebird. The LP Deluxe didn’t sell well, so, in the late 1970s, Gibson took the remaining unsold LP Deluxe stock, routed out the pickup cavities a little bit and installed a pair of P-90 pickups, then re-labled them as Pro Deluxe.
I’m trying to by-pass the electronics on my bass. Do you have any suggestions for where the wires go? There is a master volume pot, and a pickup blend pot (two soapbar pickups).
In all there are two wires coming out of each pickup (one black, one white), three places to put wires on the volume pot, six places to put wires on the blend pot, and two wires (aside form the ground) from the
jack input. I think after getting rid of the pre-amp these are all I have to worry about, but I have no idea where the pickups wire to, and where the volume/blend pots wire to.
If the information is too vague, or you need to actually see the bass, sorry about that, and thanks for your time.
I have a 69 Professional that I was thinking of selling. It does have a special cable that matches the impedance of amplifiers to the low impedance pickups that are factory standard on both models. It’s also 20% heavier than a standard.
: Has anyone come across these obscurities for sale? I understand they took a special cord to be used properly. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I actually bought a Les Paul Professional in ’69 as a young kid, and I have it to this day. I love the guitar and could never think of parting with it. Yes itrequired a low to hi impediance transformer between the amp and guitar as its pickups are of course low impediance. I still have the original manual if anyone wants a copy.
The reason it is heavy is because Les Paul wanted it the way. It was I believe th efirst guitar he designed when he rejoined the company in the late sixties. He played the Personal model for many years and cited it as his favourite. I believe he had an argument with Gibson over the weight ( which was made of solid British Honduras mahogamy ) They wanted to shave it but didn’t want them to take a even a milimeter of it .. so as the story goes he left the company again and they stopped production of the Professional and subsequently brought out the Recording which was shaved and lighter. Of course it didn’t have the masters blessing and didn’t sell so well. I would think that the Personal and Professional’s are quite rare. I know only three ever made it down to Australia.
Cheers,
Ian
I am interested in purchasing, please contact me about asking price, condition, etc. [email protected]. thanks very much. Also, home phone in USA, Revere, Mass., is (781) 286-6545. mike
:Ignore the first message about wanting to buy a PROFESSIONAL, please! I clicked too soon.
Anyway, I found the comments about the PRO to be quite fascinating. I too bought one in my early days, in ’69 to be exact. I was unaware of the British mahogany–like someone else mentioned I would not part with it for anything. BUT, does anyone have an idea of the value of this vinage and type of LES PAUL?
: I have a Les Paul Gothic and was wondering how many were made. Anyone know?
Gibson just released the Les Paul Gothic in 2000. They are being mass produced as we speak, so congratulations, you have one of the newest Les Paul models on the market.
Is there a standard discount off of list price that I should expect. Given some of the list prices, I keep thinking I should just save my money and buy a vintage LP with more character.
List prices have no meaning to you, me, and the normal consumer. They are ideas that production departments of guitar companies have, as if to say,"well, how much COULD we charge? $200 for a set of tuners? OK!!" And that goes into the list price. To all guitar buyers, if "list price" is mentioned by the "seller", or "salesmen" in conversation,(pay attention, it’ll happen fast!), you basically should say "kiss my ass!". Well, to yourself, of course. Then look at retail prices and decide how much you want to spend on the Les Paul that fits you. mike loce.
Mike is correct…but I wanted to add something –
Some Les Pauls will be closer to "list price" than others. However, if it’s a higher end model (i.e. NOT a Studio or Special), then the "list price" will probably be MORE than $1000 higher than what you’d actually pay.

I have been playing classical guitar for many years after having started on electric. I am now considering buying my first Les Paul and wonder how difficult it is to remove the pickguard and cover up the holes left. Any advice on this?
Albert, the process to taking the pick guard off of a Les Paul is as simple as two phillips head screws. I recoment leaving the screw holes alone so that you can replace the pick guard if you wish or wish to sell in original condition.
On the Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty model, how many volume/tone switches does are on the instrument?
I am thinking of purchasing one, and in the magazine i have, it appears to have no volume or tone controls. please,
help me with my problem. thanks.
That other guy that replied is a moron, there is only 1 volume switch, the rest are tone and the 3 way like he said. How could you have 2 VOLUME?!

The average profesional guitar costs roughly $600-800.

maybe you should get your shit straight. the electric pickup was around in one form or another before the turn of the century, long before the telecaster. rickenbacker’s frying pan was out in the thirties and les paul’s log in the fourties. fender didnt have a real electric electric the 50s. gibson had the first patent in the early thirties. oh and his real name was lester polsfuss. dumpass?

Electric Guitars made really huge rock concerts, which really got too big for their own britches. We have too many rich, and when the poor good musicians could play loud enough to stay heard they got into the same trap anybody taking too much gets into. Too rich, too much of the same. the acoustic guitar was invented in the 1500’s, because people wanted a bigger variety of sound than the string instruments of the time. however there wasn’t one true inventor, because there have been so many models produced over the past 500 years, that no one can take credit.

Les Paul, and Leo Fender
Albert Einstein (sp?)

Does anyone have any input on this "upgrade?" I’m figuring that down the line the Standard will be worth more anyhow and that the Standard will give me less harsh clean tones in the bridge pick-up…
Thanks,
Joe
I own a Classic and have played a Standard, and actually, I think you get nicer clean tones on the Classic’s bridge pickup. This, of course, depends on how you’ve got your amp set up.
I really think the Classic is a better guitar in general (it’s beyond me why they’re less expensive), but you’re right, the Standard will probably be worth more. Still, I don’t think it’s a major upgrade, especially for the newer Gibsons… The quality is coming down pretty badly.
I am looking for a Maple Neck Les Paul in good condition. Contact me at [email protected] if you have one that you are looking to sell.
thanks
i have a seventies standard, that has a maple neck, the gibson has been filed off thehead but itstill says Les Paul model, it has an AWESOME thinner neck than the other ones ive played, i was looking about 2000 canadian for it
how much do u want for it and if u have a picture of it then send it to me
I’m looking for a Les Paul Custom to play the crap out of, not to collect. I would prefer black, but if the price is right I really don’t care. All that matters to me is that the neck is straight, there’s no structural damage and the binding must be intact. Otherwise I don’t care about condition of the harware, frets or electonics.
Thanks,
Kent

: trying to find the date of my axe s/n62396XX2 one of the "Gem" series
Whoever responded to rachel and said thats not right, you were right. They only made the " Gem" series for several years starting in 1996 and ending in 1998. Therefore it would seem the axe in question is a 96, just like it says in the serial number. Perhaps the 6 at the front denotes the month of manufacture? I’m sure some other Les Paul freak out there could answer that one.
: trying to find the date of my axe s/n62396XX2 one of the "Gem" series
On Les Paul’s use the first and the fifth number of your serial number to determine year. Yours would be a 1966.

How much are they worth for a reasnoble one (not mint condition)?

I would like to buy a 25/50. I sold mine 8 years ago. It was a mistake. Is there any reasonable offer?
Bye Mike
HOW MUCH WOULD AN IBANEZ LES PAUL BE WORTH. NOT EXACTLY SURE OF THE YEAR, CANT BE OLDER THAN 1980. THANX
I desperately need a Les Paul Junior or special with p-90’s. I really want a vintage one but I am a college student and don’t have much money to spend

WHAT PRICE RANGE ARE YOU LOOKING IN.
I was wondering how much a typical 55 Les paul would be worth. I don’t know any specifics, as it is not my guitar. Thanks!

I’m VERY interested, and am not a jokester. Please email pictures to: [email protected] , along with contact info
Anyone have any info on these guitars? Anywhere I the web I can read about them?
i know jimmy. i just gave you his e-mail address. he should be able to tell you what you want to know.

You may feel differently so try both and see which one you like best, but for my money the Les Paul is much better – and that’s a good price.
hi bought a 90’s les paul special bass what knobs do what? top volume? etc? thanks! bill

2 questions:
)Classic vs. standard- pros cons
)2000 model year- pros cons
I heard the current guitars are not as good as the older. Is this true?

I know the pickup setup is different on the Gothic. They are still 490s and 498s but there seem to be two sets.
Can someone describe the sound difference between the Gothic and a regular Studio. Does the Gothic still sound good clean?
Thanks
I’ll let you know. Im buying one this sat. 1-27-01

Aloha,
I used to radio Australia when I was living in Indonesia in the 1950’s. Radio Australia had a weekly hit parade.
One of the songs was a Les Paul and Mary Ford song :"Counting colors in the rainbow". I have been looking for the lyrics for
a long time, and haven’t found them yet. I would be forever grateful if someone knows or has the lyrics, or where I could
possibly find them.
The refrain goes something like this: "Counting colors in the rainbow, When the sun has made a rainbow. In all those
colors , I see above me, I count the blessings of someone who loves me"
Thank you.

Aloha,
I lived in Indonesia in the 1950’s and used to listen to
Radio Australia’s hit parade.
Thank you.

I was wondering what my LP would be worth today. 1974 per the serial number. Wine color, all original.

He’s a great friend, one of the best and most knowledgeable authorities and dealers of les pauls here in the Northeast. mike loce.

The LP Deluxe didn’t sell well, so, in the late 1970s, Gibson took the remaining unsold LP Deluxe stock, routed out the pickup cavities a little bit and installed a pair of P-90 pickups, then re-labled them as Pro Deluxe.
look for them on eBay
Jeff
Has anyone come across these obscurities for sale? I understand they took a special cord to be used properly. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I have a 69 Professional that I was thinking of selling. It does have a special cable that matches the impedance of amplifiers to the low impedance pickups that are factory standard on both models. It’s also 20% heavier than a standard.

Cheers,
Ian
I also have a 1969 Professional model and would love to get a copy of the original manual.

:
I have a Les Paul Gothic and was wondering how many were made. Anyone know?
How do you like it? Im trying and buying one this weekend…
Hang onto it. It’ll go up in value. mike loce.

Absolutely. $400 is a steal.

In my neck of the woods I see them in the $1400 range if it is a Standard a little less if it’s a Deluxe
