Eastwood are known for producing distinctive guitars, and now taking inspiration from the Montgomery Wards student guitars of the 1960’s, the new Airline Bighorn Guitar has a look that certainly stands out.
This is the second new model this year in Eastwood’s Airline series and it has already begun shipping.

At first glance it appears to be a short scale guitar, however it is a full Fender scale length of 25 ½”. The stripped down Bighorn features the popular Airline Argyle Diamond pickups, 3-way switching, dual volume / tone controls and a fixed adjustable bridge. Its simple design has a solid basswood body and a maple bolt-on neck with the raised metal Airline logo on the headstock. It is available in Green, Red and Sunburst. Deluxe AIRLINE hardshell cases are also available.
“The original 1960’s Airline Bighorn has been an indie band favorite for many years,” said Mike Robinson, President and founder of Eastwood Guitars, “but they are becoming very hard to find. That is when we like to step in and offer an alternative to the original that plays and sounds better, at an affordable price. At a street price of only $399, we’ve more that hit the mark with the Bighorn.”

Stripped down? Take a good look: It has as much or more going on than your average Tele. Next time when reviewing a guitar, take at least a look at it before throwing down a bunch of meaningless phrases. At least you didn’t say it’s “built like a tank” or that you wanted to “pull the trigger” (read: buy one) — more garbage talk. Most reviews in the guitar bizz aren’t even worth reading anymore. All cliches with no real criticism positive or negative. And who wants to read some company press release? How about real reviews from experienced guitarists. Here’s a cliche for you guys: Where’s the Beef? Add some real substance and I might consider reading more from GS in the future. For now, though, this goes in the junk mail. Sorry.

The “stripped down” comment was actually from Eastwood Guitars themselves as I was publishing their announcement rather than reviewing the guitar myself.
I’m sorry if this wasn’t clear – I have now highlighted this fact in yellow to make sure no one misinterprets it.
We have also taken your suggestion on-board about having more actual reviews and we are currently looking into getting more guitarist/writers to help with that.

“Stripped down” — Yup, I should have guessed. It sounds exactly like a lot of other “guitar company speak,” such as “sustain for ages” and guitar bodies that “sing” or “breathe.” Some of the press releases and marketing tactics border on the comical.
