Spanning a 40 year career, Funk legend Bootsy Collins knows how the bass should sound. And one new pedal joins Bootsy’s stellar range of funky stompboxes, the Fission Bass Powerchord FX from Fishman.

The pedal, as the name implies, will allow you to lay down stacked harmonies over your bass lines. It has an intuitive set of controls and foot switches which gives you several combinations of octaves and 4ths and 5ths above the root note. You can tweak the controls and combine to produce powerchords or octave-up effects.

So you won’t get lost, there are four footswitch LEDs which visually indicates the harmony that you are currently using. Other features include adjustable noise gate, three voices of harmony, overdrive, tone and effect level. These features enables bassists like Bootsy to conjure up anything from subtle octaves to thick, grinding effects that even guitarists will envy.

Bootsy Collins’ driving bass sound is the backbone of the legendary funk band “Parliament-Funkadelic”, where all members including Bootsy, were inducted into the exclusive “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” in 1997. To add to his already impressive resume, Bootsy has played with many equally legendary artists like soul Godfather James Brown.

Bootsy was quoted saying: “I love it when the band is playing a power riff together with stacked harmonies, add 5ths and octaves, man, it doesn’t get any funkier. Now the next best thing is playing by myself with the Fission Bass Powerchord FX pedal. It makes me feel like I am playing with my band in the upper room standing in the balcony of your mind. Feel the power of the One and check it out today baba!”

The retail price for the Fission Bass Powerchord FX is currently at $279.95.
