Me too jim, lots of other schematics on the dano sites, but can’t find one for the "two concenric pots, no selector switch" option used on longhorn basses. It can’t be hard but I have no electrical savvy so need help. Howard.
My uncle has either a 1962 or 1963 DanElectro Guitar with matching Amp. (Amp DE DM10). I have tried to find info but have had no luck… Any help will be greatly appreciated – THANK YOU!

Anyone got the wiring diagram for Jerry Jones (& copies) sitars? 3 Pickup – volume/tone for each, no switching. If you measure resistance, turning the volumes to 1/2 can rise to 250k ohms… and the output goes vvery weak. Seems a design flaw.

any body know the suggested string gauge on a dano 12? i just got my first one and i don’t want to mess the neck up by using too heavy a string. are 10’s ok?
I am missing the floating rosewood saddle. What can I use to replace this (other than finding an original replacement)?
Can I use a "rosewood compensated bridge with base for flat-top guitar"? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Joe
Im still unsure on the year…serial number websites lead me to believe its either a ’53 or ’63…im thinking 63 but have yet to see a 1963 model for comparison. Found a pic of a 1958 which is the exact model and color.
Fantastic condition..90% near mint. A couple dings on edge..havent touched since recieved from late grandfather over ten years ago.
Specs:
BODY
1958 to 1969: masonite/poplar (or pine) frame, double cutaway "shorthorn" style, 13.25" wide.
NECK
1956-1969: Poplar bolt-on neck with Brazilian rosewood fingerboard.
PICKUP
1955 to 1969: Single pickup-Alnico bar magnets & copper wire wrapped in brown tape and mounted in surplus, chrome plated, lipstick tube.
PEGHEAD
1956-1966 "Coke Bottle"
"Seal" shaped pickguard and two control knobs
Send me an offer if interested. 🙂

Did I miss a reply here? I’m also seeking a schematic do my DS 50!

I have a cherry 1962 3412 copper short horn short scale bass. I’d like to replace the original bridge non-destructively with one that clears the picguard, allowing a lower string action setting. I don’t want to shim the neck if I can help it. Any suggestions?
hi where to find a left handed danelectro available on the net ?????
: hi where to find a left handed danelectro available on the net ?????
Good question. As a fellow lefty, I looked for a while. My experience is about all you’re likely to find is a 56-U2 reissue. I couldn’t find a new one (discontinued) but just watch eBay. I picked up a Surf Green one that is in good shape. They’re not on there all the time, but probably one or more a week. When I bid on this one, there was a red one and a bright yellow one listed also. You’ll probably have to drop about 3 bills to get one these days. Good luck!
Please does anyone know where I can get new pots for a Nifty Fifty?
All are damaged beyond repair(a common occurance for this model,I hear!)They are sub miniature carbon track type 100k lin(qty 2),10k lin(qty 1),10k log(qty 2)I liked tone of amp and do not want to have to bin it.

If you take the pots apart, you’ll find that the shaft has pulled out of the sweeper disk a little causing the pot to malfunction. I pressed the shaft back in and used #10 superglue (StewMac.com) to strengthen the bond. Seems to be working so far. I emailed Danelectro for spare parts and they told me that because the amp is out of production they didn’t have any parts and couldn’t even guess where to get them. If your pots are totally shot, try Mouser.com. They have some that I think could be adapted to that board. Measure all the old pot’s dimensions (metric) and compare them to what the spec sheets have from Mouser. I would have gone that route, but I got impatient and wanted this amp out of my shop. Good luck!

Anyone know how much current the Daddy-O pedal draws? My multi-power supply is getting dangerously close to its 450mA limit, and I’d like to know if attaching my Daddy-O to it as well is going to make me smell burning!
Thanks

I’ll answer myself in case anyone else finds this! I’ve measured it to be about 6mA, max 7mA.
This popular thread has been given its own page : louder than usual hum
Hi all
I just got a 90’s u2 and i play it though a fender hotrod deluxe, i love the tone but It makes a god awful hum and I have a strat and a cheap epiphone with p90’s(which are know for a lot of hum)they both sound fine with the amp, I also played a freinds u2 and his sounds fine. its fine till you mess with the tone controls for either pickup. with the volume all the way up and the tone all the way down it has a terrible tone but no noise when i turn the tone up just slightly it hums loudly somewhere in the middle it subsides but as it gets close to being all the way up it hums even more loudly than before this is on the clean channel with the volume at about 2 when I go past 5 it feeds back unbearably its even worse with reverb and man dont even think of turning the gain channel on, I checked the grounds with a volt/ohm meter they seem to be fine. I guess I can try bypassing the pots to see if its them or the pots, if not I dont know where to go from there. any help is seriously appreciated. I will wait for some replys before I whip out the soldering iron.
thanks
Rob

I am in need of an output transformer and choke for a Silvertone 1485.
Does anyone out there have one for sale or know where I can get one?
Thanks in advance for your reply!
Andy
The pedal sounds like its supposed to when I use a 9v battery, but when I hook it up to a 9v adapter, it gets really, really noisy. Its not even worth using its so noisy. Danelectro has a "no hum" 9v adapter, would that fix the problem? http://www.zzounds.com/item–DANDA1. Also, why would it hum like that when I hook up the adapter?
Hi guys, just bought a blue 56 pro (love it)….was wondering if it will fit in a standard les paul shaped case ….. anyone know?

I need to replace my son’s tuning machine on what looks like a 1960s Silvertone Electric Guitar. It’s the same one here: http://www.vintagesilvertones.com/forsale_dano-1449ampincase.html. Anyone know where I can find one? My internet search was unfruitful.
Thanks.
for some reason i cant get any of my or my friends pedals to work at all. Ive tried using the 9 volt batteries included and also a 9 volt power source and i cant get a single sound to come out of my amp at all. I’m sure i have the patches in the right jacks and still no sound. Any thougths?
Does anyone know any cool settings for original Danecho or Danelectro Fab Tone. I can’t seem to find original manual for these.
I am having the same trouble finding a mannual for Danelectro fab tone pedal, love the pedal though. if you find any instructions it would be great if you could let me know where will do the same for you

I am trying to help a friend with the sale of an approx. 3 to 4 year old Danelectro DC-59 reissue (wine red) model. I can EBay it, but I am also considering buying it and keeping it in my collection.
It is in good condition but has been played, thus has surface scratches (nothing into the paint) the accent tape is pulling up slightly in the deep groove areas, again nothing out of the ordinary, modest fret wear on the first three frets, still some life. Overall good condition, and will clean up well, but not outstanding or "mint".
The problem I am having is determining a fair value if I want to keep it. I have been researching EBay, the web etc… and this particular guitar is kind of in a wierd situation. It appears they no longer make them. As best I can tell, new they went for around $200 to $250. Used the prices are all over and there aren’t enough of them I can find on completed auctions and what not to determine what is a fair but good price for one of these.
Any insight is appreciated.

I have one in good shape especially considering how old it is. New tubes. One speaker went bad and I had to replace it but I saved the origional. Sounds very good. I am a bass player but I have had this for almost 30 years in my room. I would say it sounds better than a twin. Missing one knob. This amp was well taken care of.
if this is the nifty fifty i’m willing to give you 40 and up for it.

Help – I’ve gotten into difficulty revising a mid 60’s tube DS 60 "double decker" amp. Need schematic! anybody? Thanks
I bought a perfect mid-60’s Danelectro DS 50 "double decker" amp and stupidly tried to tweak it better.I now need a schematic to see just how stupid I am/was as my "improvements" have rendered the amp feeble.Help!
I had one of these amps with cab and it burned. caught on fire. It was the only thing i had left from my grandfather. I’d love to get another one. even if it isn’t working. at least the empty void would be a little filled. do you have any information?
This popular thread has been given its own page : Danelectro U3 select-o-matic
Hey Ledil,
Here’s the lowdown on the Select-O-Matic:
Select-O-Matic numbered settings:
1. neck & bridge
2. neck
3. neck & middle
4. middle
5. middle & bridge
6. bridge
7. Toggle switch bypasses the rotary switch and turns all 3 pickups on at once in series.
If you didn’t already figure it out, I hope this help.
DaddyO
First, with the toggleswitch in the down (or right) position, the selectomatic is non-functional. Both pick ups are on full.
With the toggle switch in the up (or left) position, the selectomatic dials between the two pick-ups. In the clockwise most position only the bridge pickup is on, then progressively as you dial counterclockwise the current transfers to the other pick-up. You get a twangier treblier tone with the bridge pickup, and a meatier, rounder tone with the other one. Hope that helps. I have a U3 too and love it.
you say two pickups, but there are three on the U3, right? does it only activate the two pickups closest to the bridge? anyhow, thanks for the information. very helpful.
Hello there!! i have just bought a dano U3 but until today i can’t figure out how to use the select-o-matic knob and the pickup properly. can someone enlighten me with this knowledge? thank you in advance and may god bless you!!

what do you guys think about the cornbeef reverb pedal
I have just gotten a re-issue 12/6 with a bad neck selector switch. Am unable to find a satifactory replacement toggle; trying to keep the Dan-O look. So, will be moving the pickup selector toggle to neck selector and using a rotary to re-wire the pickups. Am thinking a Danelectro Select-O-Matic switch may due what I want. : ive seen one on ebay, it looks great, has anyone played one.
I’ve had one for 28 years where it has never left my room but once for a gig. I re-tubed it and replaced one speaker and it is one of the best amps I have ever played on. It reminds me of a Fender twin but there is no master volume so there is no distortion of couse. Does anyone know what it is worth now?
yeah theres one on ebay now, i wonder how much its worth has good reviews
The Achilles heel is the tiny 8" speaker so I built mine into a combo with a 10" Celestion and a 10" Eminence of 60 watt rating as an experiment. Now it goes loud enough for gigs without "bad" speaker breakup – in fact there’s NO speaker breakup!Clean to die for. Oh yeah – I also covered it in leopardskin fur,it’s the koolest!
Do you think there would be a problem running it in to a four- ten cabinet?
hi, i’m looking for buying a danelectro guitar but first i would like to know which are the differences between models dc 59 and dc 59 pro, and if for a regular tuning i’ll need the adjustable bridge.
thanks

Can anyone tell me what the four knobs on my Danoblaster are for? Believe it or not, I found this guitar in the trunk of an old car. I figured out the tone and volume but the other two don’t seem to do anything.
Appreciate any help.
It’s a guitar that includes built-in effects… The knobs control them… you need to put a battery into the guitar, in case it wasn’t included… Cheers
BOOK UPDATE…July 30, 2006. The new book is coming along incredibly well. I have so much content it’s mindblowing. My most recent "I cannot believe this" moment is I now have in my posession the most in-depth and revealing interview ever conducted with the great Vincent Bell. Amazing stuff, from a truly wonderful man. I cannot tell you how proud I am to have such an important figure in the music business participate in this book. I had scheduled an interview for the book with Vinnie, to be conducted by Paul Bechtoldt, but he failed to follow up and get it done. This time, it’s not only done, it’s incredible. Also I put together the most complete and up to date vintage Danelectro value guide ever compiled and also the most complete dating and ID guide. The vintage catalog section is GIGANTIC and includes some very rare Danelectro, Coral, & Silvertone catalogs dating from 1956-1970 including some rare 1958 NAMM flyers/posters! The color section is incredible showing the rarest of the rare and the coolest of the cool. That doesn’t even begin to cover it, there’s LOTS more Dano’ fun in this book, GUARANTEED!!! For book updates and details on reserving your copy please visit cityguitar.com. See you soon…Doug Tulloch.

Most recently, Howard Daniel, an award winning writer {and son of Nathan "Nat" Daniel!} wrote a stellar introduction to the book defining his father’s important achievements and innovations in the musical instrument industry and beyond. They’ll be 100+ pages of RARE catalog reproductions, details on patents and innovations, protypes, value guide, schematics, Dano’ players, Dano’ hits, and a great in-depth interview with Vincent Bell. : BOOK UPDATE…July 30, 2006. He was supposed to be featured in Guitars From Neptune but sadly was not. That was a major issue between Bechtoldt and myself. I personally spoke to Vinnie and scheduled an interview for Bechtoldt with Vinnie, but he failed to follow up and get it done. Subject says it all. What are the combinations on the Selectamatic switch on a 12 string Hodad?

If the Select-O-Matic doesn’t change from the 56-U3, danguitars.com has the selections as: 1. neck & bridge, 2. neck, 3. neck & middle, 4. middle, 5. middle & bridge, 6. bridge, 7. toggle bypass.
Would you happen to have a wiring diagram of your Hodad? Am updating my double neck with a Select-O-Matic switch and need to get it right.
I’ve got a reissue DC3 which I love, but it’s pickups are a little on the weak side. I’m getting two Kent Armstrongs for the neck and middle positions, but I’d like something hotter for the bridge slot. Any recommendations? Doesn’t have to be a lipstick tube, my Dano is way modded already :).
Hi, I’m interesting in buying a Danelectro Longhorn Baritone guitar. It’s good for me to buy it on http://www.thomann.de but they have one only in limo black color. I checked the danelctro’s site and the longhorn baritone in limo black doesn’t exist!!! How do you explain that?
Have a look: http://www.thomann.de/thoiw8_danelectro_longhorn_baritone_lb_prodinfo.html

I need a set of knobs for a 1960 U1.
I have a U3 and DC3 and on both the front strap button seems in an awkward position and I want to move/replace them. Ideally I would go through the back of the neck pocket about an inch from the edge of the body. Has anyone tried this, is the body solid behind the neck heel? Or has anyone relocated their buttons to a better and safe position?
Looking for a headstock decal for an early 60’s Danelectro restoration project. Also, I would like to know where to acquire some of that lovely puke green color paint.
Hi,
Looking for a 1956 (reissue) Danelctro U-3

David
:Hi David
If you are still looking I have an immaculate ie as new black sparkle U3 – if black sparkle suits, let me know and I will post pics. The guitar is absolutely flawlees and was given – brand new and boxed to somebody as payment for work done – she played it a couple of times but didn’t get on with it but understood it’s desirability and I had to practically beg her to sell it to me. I’m now in the position where I need to fund something even higher on my "must have" list and have to sell.
Regards
Bob
