The ESP Guitar Company (Electric Sound Products), located in North Hollywood, California, is a prominent manufacturer of electric guitars and basses.
The company was created by Hisatake Shibuya in 1975 as a chain of music retail stores in Japan. In 1983, ESP started making replacement parts and started making hand-made custom guitars in 1985. In 1986, ESP opened an office in New York City to make custom guitars for American players. In 1996, ESP started a new brand, the LTD. The LTD guitars are similar to ESP guitars and more affordable. According to ESP, LTDs are made on an assembly line in Korea from cheaper materials than ESPs, which are handcrafted in Japan. They still provide the optional custom service which made them in the first place.
ESP found fame by providing guitars for guitarists who went on to become leading exponents of thrash metal music in the 1980s, most famously to Metallica. As a result of these endorsements, ESP has gone on to become one of the largest suppliers of guitars for use in heavy music.

Dude, you can’t find one. It was custom made for him by a bass player named Ken Lawrence (Ken Lawrence Explorer). Nobody really knows how much it cost him but it is rumored to be about $8,000. Ken Lawrence makes about 15 bass guitars a year. Those are usually made for pro’s. The lowest priced one is around $5,000. His basses are made out of custom woods and are hand made.
I never knew about Ken Lawrence. I never knew he plyed bass or made them, alls i know about him is that he build a fucking mean and beautiful guitar for Hetfield. I want that guitar so bad. i just wish i had that kind of bank uknow. i want to learn more about this fello he sounds like an awsome builder. and James has damn good taste in guitars

I own an ESP Explorer (Black with grey ghost flames). It has a striking resemblance to an ESP JH guitar, just w/o the diamondplate. It does got EMG Special 80’s in it tho. I’d sell it for around 1,300.

I have an ESP Explorer and it gots this nasty anime cartoon crap on it. And I figure a diamondplate would be cheaper then to repain the whole thing. So if anyone is selling any or they know where I can get one, it’d be greatly appriciated.

The guitar was specially made for Jaymz by Ken Lawrence himself. You can’t buy it anywhere unfortunetly though. Sorry 🙁 I hope I helped though
The guiatr you are refering to is Kenny Lawrence explorer style guitar. It has father and son camping as the inlays. The pick-ups are EMG’s an 81 at the bridge and a 60 at the neck position.

I was wondering if you could help me with some info about a recent purchase I made. I bought a ESP ?explorer? I’m not sure of the model it actually is because It doesn’t look like the others I’ve seen. It has the same look as Metallica’s however as pretaining to the explorer the bottom curves out instead of the normal inward. the same with the headstock has a slight curve as opposed to the straight angle. My father was a woodworker and carver. He recently passed away leaving a very large stack of rough air dried Honduran Rosewood billets at his shop. This Rosewood is very dense, running at about 69 lbs. per foot cubed. There is also a wide range of coloration, including brown, pink and purple hues. The smallest billets are 3.5" by 6.5" in width and they all range from 50 to 100" in length. There are many beautiful guitar parts in this wood! One piece is roughly 5"x12" and 100" long with very few checks and a deep brown purple, very dense (the best piece in the whole bunch).
This wood is located near Detroit. UPS will ship up to 150 lbs. At 69 lbs per cu. ft., 2 cu. ft. can be shipped. The individual billets have a starting weight of about 100 lbs.
This supply is limited. If interested make best offer including payment of shipping fees or inquire for more info. Offers less than $20 per board foot, rough, as is, will not be considered.

i bought this esp vintage series guitar about a year ago used. i own a few fender strats that i thought i would never put down until i played this esp. my problem is the volume pot went bad and i had the guy that does all my work replace it. it has active pickups in it with a chip to control the pickups under the tone pots and he has not been able to figure out how to get it wired right. if anyone knows anything about this type of set-up i would appreciate any info you could pass my way. thanks in advance

I have an ESP Traditional.It’s the best guitar i ever had the pleasure of playing. The country music world uses more Gibson&Fender . I have played both ,but the ESP is the better sounding more comfortable fit for me. The boat neck is fitted perfectly for my smaller hands.I don’t play lead except a fill or 2 but i would never give it up for tradition.

I fell your pain man, but im glad I dont have to go through it cause iI got one of the last Explorers ever made and it is not for sale for any price.
They Don’t make explorers anymore gibson sued ESP for using their design!
They do, just not the same. The new Ex-250, which I had the pleasure of having to return b/c it was scratched from the factory, has the explorer body style with two of the edges on the body bent inward, I guess that was enough of a change for ESP/LTD to get away with.
