Megadeth45ParticipantMy set up is simple LP classic w/ emg 81 bridge and 60 neck, into marshall dsl 100 with a boss eq in the loop. i need a lead boost…does a tubescreamer sound good when put on top of distortion?
Megadeth45Participantid say emg 81 for bridge and emg 60 for neck. that’ll give u mean distortion. the 81 is kinda trebbly (get a graphic equalizer). the 85 is good, more of a neck PU, but would prob be pretty ballsy in the bridge.
Megadeth45Participantsquealing is all in the hands baby
Megadeth45Participanthey thanks guys, i thought thats what the red plug in the back was for, only thing is the speaker cable is so short (running from the speker in teh combo) that to unplug it i think i might have to unscrew the back of the amp.
Megadeth45Participanthey thanks for the advice guys, no worries anymore haha. rock on
Megadeth45ParticipantHere comes teh typical question- what kind of guitar and amp do you have? Anyway i played around wit a metalzone and the tone i got to sound most like metallica is turn the bass up. keep the inner and outer mid range knobs towards the middle (outer one a little more up than the inner) and play with the treble so its not too biting. i dunno tho, im not a big fan of stomp box distortion so im sure others can help you a lot more. good luck
Megadeth45ParticipantBump–ANY advice will do, need help please!
Megadeth45Participant1 word…Creed at least shitty emo bands know they are shit (hopefully)
September 29, 2005 at 6:28 am in reply to: what is the best distortion pedal for big big metal sound?? #74792Megadeth45ParticipantI’m not a fan of distortion pedals, but if u need one, id recommend the Digitech Metal Master, i played through it and its pretty sweet, def check it out…u can get a real big guitar sound out of it…metal up ur ass!
Megadeth45ParticipantI dont hav any pics at the moment…it just looks like a regular strap…a lil dirty, and can get a lot longer basically haha
Megadeth45Participantyou said u liked the soudn of teh 85 better than the 81…how come? I want to buy either of those along with an emg 60 and i cant decide haha.
Megadeth45ParticipantThanks for the advice, ill check these Pickups out.
Megadeth45ParticipantI was in your same exact situation a while ago and chose teh classic. Better by far in my opinion. The sound is clear, loud, and articulate. it doesnt sound boxy like Std’s do (granted its dirtier sounding) and imo its an all around meaner, dirtier rock guitar. i use it for speed metal and it works great. peace
