No Problem. I hope you can get to a place so that 5 bucks isn’t a big deal soon. SB

    Hi jay667,

I don’t know if you have access to a copy of this month’s Vintage Guitar magazine (July 2005) but they do a side by side comparison of 10-15 “low watt” boutique amps. Of course, they consider any amp under a 100 watts as low watt. You might find the article interesting if you are shopping since it allows you to quickly compare all the features each amp offers. I would also suggest going to VintAxe.com and look under Custom Guitar Links. I have a pretty comprehensive list of amp builders and clicking through the links will allow you to see what everyone offers in your price range fairly quickly. Happy shopping, SB

    Hi fourstring,

I think the SG 90 series was produced from 1974-76. The only speculation concerning value I can give you is what is in the VG price guide. They suggest a price range from $450-$600 US. Hope this helps, SB

    Hey Cammac,

I don’t know anything about the value of your instrument but I do have a couple of 1970’s Dorado catalogs posted on my website VintAxe.com if you want to research your instrument. I think I’ve got a couple more Dorado catalogs in storage that I haven’t posted yet if the stuff I have up isn’t helpful. Lemme know if you want to pursue it. SB

    Hi Ginger,

I be happy to tell you what the 2004 Vintage Guitar Price Guide thinks your guitar is worth but without more information it is difficult to tell for sure. There are over 50 models of Telecaster, most produced after 1982. The main USA made Telecasters are the Telecaster (1951-1982), Standard Telecaster(1982-85), American Standard Telecaster (1988-2000) and the American Series Telecaster (2000 to present). After 1982 Fender offered a dizzying variety of custom and artist models.

If you have an American Standard, the VG price guide suggests it is worth $850 US. I’ve got a mid 90’s Tele Plus and it’s value hasn’t changed much since the day I bought it. It’s a great recording tool and as long as it at least holds value I’m happy. Enjoy your instrument, SB

    Hey TJH,

I think standout sites are in the eyes of the beholder. Your first post concerning sites really covers a lot of ground and there are thousands of sites that might interest you. If you let me know something specific you are looking for I’ll try to make some suggestions. On the other hand, it might be worth your time to simply go through the links systematically over the period of a month or so to see what’s out there. Just start at the top of the list and when you get tired jot down the last site you visited so you’ll know where to pick up looking the next time you log in. Be sure to let me know if you encounter any dead links. SB

    Hey talljackhole,

Go to my vintage guitar website VintAxe.com. I think I have one of the most complete listings of guitar site links available on the web. You better pack your lunch. SB

    Well, fantastic Wayne!

At my last count there were over 100 Les Paul variations that use “Les Paul” somewhere in the name. If your guitar was made in 1960 it can’t be a “Les Paul Classic”, however, it can be a “Classic Les Paul”. Congratulations on your good fortune. I also had a great guitar given to me once, a 1955 Gibson L-5 CES. I think at best , a gift like this only happens once every lifetime. SB

Yeah 1bass, I had the same little rush of excitement until “not a scratch on guitar or case” sank in. I haven’t seen many 1960 gold top les pauls, but every one I’ve seen has had a scratch on it. Wayne has a cool guitar, even if it is a reissue. SB

    Hey Wayne,

The Les Paul Classic was produced between 1990-98 and I believe was revived again in 2001. My guess is that it is worth somewhere between $1,500 to $2000 depending on how quickly you would want to sell it. Since you are currently not interested in selling it I guess it can be worth $2,000, right? enjoy your guitar, SB

    Hey talljackhole,

As an over 40 player I think you have compiled an admirable list. Of course anytime you choose the “best” of anything you’ll certainly encounter disagreement but all the guitarist you have chosen are worthy players. It is curious that no guitar players that have made their name in the last 10-15 years have made the list. Interesting commentary on the role of the guitar player in contemporary music wouldn’t you say? Cheers, SB

    Hi Friendofbill,

The 2004 Vintage Guitar Price Guide estimates the value of your guitar between $1,200-$1,500. VG gathers price information from dealers so this estimate is retail. Say hi to Bill for me. SB

I’m thinking about U.S. dollars. Of course, condition and demand will ultimately determine the guitar’s current worth. SB

As my son would say, “that’s shameful”. Although it may not be much for sitting in a chair soulfully strumming ballads, I bet it’s great for duck-walking across a stage. Actually, I think I’ve seen this instrument before. Look up “Wall Hanger” in your Funk and Wagnall! SB
