If the player would spend so much time fidlin with the controls that He’s (she) never made any music?
USGoldParticipantThe only thing I can think of -the only reason for four humbuckers would be if it were a true wired sterio guitar-then you might be creating some sort of weird phase shift or something.
USGoldParticipantWas it a “professional” refinish or some clown with a can of spray paint?
USGoldParticipantI would have loved to win a free axe-and yes according to the brand new Fender 2006 catalogue–He plays a strat-in fact the have two diffent colors of HIs signed editions available-wonder what the model on the EPI is–some of their higher end units are pretty fine guitars.
USGoldParticipantbest deal I could find on a new or used Gibson LP any model was about $700 US–thats almost 1 and 1/2 times what I put into MY whole rig–besides I alsready have so much $ in to accoustic—the old ball and chain was a tough sell for the all electric deal anyway. Would have loved a Gib-has been my dream guitar ever since the first time I saw Zepplin in concert.
USGoldParticipantWasn’t it Floyd themselves that said it all in “Welcome to the machine”?
USGoldParticipantand yes I would have loved a “badged” guitar-in fact i was all set to buy an EPI LP except that the only one I could afford was either the single set control model (Studio) or the L210? and what i read of the L210 wasn’t very good and it would have cost me even more than what I did buy–also on the day I bought the Stagg, I went back to the guitar mega store and replayed the EPI Studio model and the Stagg actually felt better in the neck and the frets-it also had more tone in the Humbuckers, and the finish was miles ahead of the one on the cheap EPI. I really wanted a LP style-considered the SG EPI but I had my heart set on a LP, I played the other brands I could afford, Ibenez, Rich,Yamaha.and Squire both the Tele and the Strat . I liked the play of mine better, and the fact that it had a tuneomatic bridge was a also a factor, in short I still think I got the best I could for My bucks in the price range I had. I know it most likely won’t appreciate in value, but I also think that 20 years ago people might have said the same for the cheaper Fenders and EPI’s, ya never know what time will spin out. Thanks for the replies and btw I love this forum,I am very glad I happened to find it.
USGoldParticipantI really appreciate hearing others opinions about gear and what not–does anybody out there have any experience with the digitech multieffects units?-I began considering the RP80 the cost seems reasonable and despite what I read with a lot of differing votes about it-it seems to provide much of what I would want-I was particularly interested in the drum machine feature-as I spend most of My time with My guitar practicing alone.
USGoldParticipantIf you really want some responses here try posting the pic of it on the post message, let us see it and perhaps you could supply some of the details about it too-such as features and construction?
USGoldParticipantCouldn’t drop the serious coin to buy any of the big name axes you guys have gone for-but i wanted dual humbuckers with dual controls-this one played nice-looked great and had realy nice finish–sounds super too.
USGoldParticipantThis is what I chose from all the kinds I checked out that I could afford, sounds real well matched for cool tones with my dual humbucker LP style guitar.
USGoldParticipantI play worship with the church band-rock and rool for personal entertainment and I am trying to learn to play the blues passably., also mild interest in country rock, american folk ie: dylan excetera, not haed banger but the classic rock styles, driving beat rythmic, right now I consider myself more of a ryhtim player than a soloist, would like to learn more skills in that area though.
USGoldParticipantBrings to mind an interesting direction for this or a new thread, namely sharing opinions concerning the 70’s bands with the high end engineered sounds–such as early to mid Yes, ELP,Journey,Styxx, that whole genre of smooth, skilled ,well engineered bands whose sound was only possible with the recording techniques that had just become available at that time.
USGoldParticipantLiked the bluesy sounds early to mid periods- havent’t heard anybody mention “get off of my cloud”, “paint it black”, or the early High Tides and Green Grass.
USGoldParticipantShe must know a bunch of dumb/asses–a player is a player–close your eyes and you’ll know it’s all in the music. I was in a huge guitar shop a while back and this young woman was ripping it up ona a new american tele she was considering buying-I told her how well I thought she played ( much beyond My skill level)–if the blokes she knows can’t be honest and critique the musician not the sex she needs to hang with a different crowd.
