boogiemanParticipant
Not seen anything like it before and I collect old MIJ basses.
boogiemanParticipantThis was probably not a reply to me,but I agree the Jazzer is the best bet for you. For a fairly cheap step up for the Squire Jazz Bass,go to the Guitar Fetish website and check out the ” Overwoundt” Jazz Bass replacement pickups. I have advized several Squire Jazz Bass players to try them out and in every case they are very, very satisfied. Great pickups indeed for the money.
Good luck to you !! 8)
boogiemanParticipantGREAT POST OZ !!!! 😆
boogiemanParticipantHey I meant 1bassleft . Great guy and vast knowledge of ALL THINGS BASS !!!!
boogiemanParticipantHey man sorry about that. The Jazzer is a good choice for you.I now a little about Fender basses. I own every year of P Bass from 1853 through 1968 and currently play on the bandstand with a Fender Custom shoe 1954 Tele bass and a John Bolin built Tele bass,
Thanks for joining thisforum. Ask any bass or amp question at any time. Between myself and bass, and all the other ” Bass dudes” here I just bet you can get almost anything about basses answered.
Keep The Grease in the groove and PLAY THAT BASS !!!!

boogiemanParticipantHey 1bass————– give her the lowdown on the mm bass and adding a Warman . I finally got mine complete and it is really quite good. I even checked it out comparing to a friends real MM. It is amazing indeed. 8)
boogiemanParticipantMan is this a late reply ,sorry . Can you put a picture of your bass on here. I bet either 1 Bass or myself could come close to telling you what it is. Thanks !! 8)
boogiemanParticipantI am with you all the way 1 Bass. She’d love any of the “Tele” basses you mentioned.A s for the bland Peavey bass amps,I do not think it really matters for her at this time. She just wants something to knock around with. The smaller Peavey stuff would be fine, mostly because they are cheap and seem to work almost every time you turn one on !!!!
Good luck on findung a cheaper bass and amp.
BASS PLAYERS ROCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8)
boogiemanParticipantStill looking for a GOLD P BASS PICKUP COVER !!!! As for the BLACK bridge and pickup covers—-they are both now easily had on Evay.
boogiemanParticipantThanks. They are out of stock, but will probably have them soon. They are a bit high priced but at lease they have them.
boogiemanParticipantI am in no position to make any offer at the current time. I bought another 1953 P Bass a month ago and am tapped out money wise. If you still have it in a couple of months let me know. By the way,I really know and understand the selling of old friends, I have had t do it many times.
Best to you and that great old Bass !!! Jimmy Lloyd Rea
boogiemanParticipantWhat do you want for it ?????????????
September 27, 2009 at 9:32 pm in reply to: Kasim Sulton Signature Model Bass Guitar by Archer #76814boogiemanParticipantSorry for the late rply OZ———– yes I haveread about the MM you speak of———– very interesting. Reminds me of the MM Stingray I bought new in L.A. in 1975. Deep Gold finish (which did not appear in the line till much later) and the pickup placed about one inch farther toward the neck. Sounded great !!!!!!!!!!!! I traded it to a guy for a 68 Tele Bass in 1980. have heard he still owns it and has put some pics up on the net on some Vintage sites, but I can’t find it.
I have also been told that the Stingray did nt hit the streets till 1976. The Telecater Bass I traded for is very cool, I still own it and play it a lot. Had it verified by some guy in Arizona as one f the first of the 68 Tele Bass re issues and actually built with old 50’s parts that were “laying around”——-but still wish I still had the Stingray !!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLAY THAT BASS OZ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

boogiemanParticipantHey Oz !!!!!!!!!!
The bass I bought was in fact a “proto” type and was made in the USA. It plays and sounds great. My additional digging for info showed me that after the proto types were done, most all of the production models were made in China after the first run being built in Korea.
Mine is indeed a great bass. From what I read, the model is no longer nade.
Good to hear from you Oz !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8)
boogiemanParticipantLady Luck guitars and basses were Koren made in the late 80’s andin to the mid 90’s. A lady on the East Coast of the USA made the deal with the manufacturer and put them out with the name she chose , Lady Luck. They did OK in the low end to medium market for a few years.
In all honesty, they were no different than most all of the Korean made guitars and basses produced at the time for that price range. I am certain you can find a fretless bass of one of many brand names of that time that will do you a good job.
Good luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(I mean Lady Luck)
