Some very nice guitar pics (and some truly tasteless guitars!) but I have to say I spent 10 times longer looking at the cars, fantastic! One day I’ll have one… :(
Use any of them you want. You may have to move a copy of them to another site; I don’t think it works to hot-link to yahoo. But you’re welcome to them.

If I didn’t want people looking at the cars, I’d make the albums private. Feel free to browse.

The question is, did you pick my car out of them all?

OK, here’s the deal. I’ve uploaded a pile of photos to my yahoo photos web page. It’s the “Guitar Show” album. When you open it and click on a photo, you’ll see their downsized version of the photo. If you want to see the full-sized photo, click on the “Download” link which I believe is on the upper right hand side of each photo.

You’re welcome to look at the other photos, too.

There are a number of guitars in there that belong in the “ugliest guitar” archives, too!

This is a show sponsored by Vintage Guitar, but they have new stuff, too. And lots and lots of overpriced maybe-vintage-maybe-not-maybe-fake-vintage guitars. I mean, how many $15,000 Strats are there in the world?

The “mix and match” factory habit can produce some great things. Ibanez has done that a number of times, using up leftover parts, and those guitars fetch a pretty penny.

Another thing Ibanez has done is to bring guitars over from Japan for a show, then disposed of them to local dealers so as not to have to carry them back. I’ve seen photos of a few of those, and some are fantastic machines, handmade…and not in any catalog anywhere.

And they figure if they’re too lazy to do the research, 98% of all buyers will be, too.

Ignorance, of course, knows no boundaries and is seldom even hampered by degrees and reputed expertise.

Not on the same subject, exactly, but I check out Ford Model T hot rods on e-bay regularly, and it’s not unusual to come across guys claiming cars are 1932 T buckets, etc. You’d think someone would do the few moments of research to know that Model T production stopped in 1927, wouldn’t you?

But if you’re looking to e-bay for an education, all you’ll find there are mysteries of the market.

That tea cozy one isn’t much worse than a flowered Jem, in my opinion.

    Ah, opinions…

Forgive me for committing necrothreadia here, but I was just wasting time reading through old posts and came across this thread.

Here’s my oh-so-salient point: Radio Shack at one time carried thousands of tubes (valves to those of you who are separated from the U.S. by more than an imaginary line or a thousand miles of water). Had your old table radio go dead? Open it up, see which tube wasn’t lighting up. Turn it off, let it cool, and pull out the tube. Go down to Radio Shack, check the shelves, do a cross reference, find the right tube, take it home, install it, listen to KIMN Radio, Denver 95, and hear about that new group, the Beatles, and how they’re going to appear at Red Rocks tonight, if they can stay out of jail for the damage they did to the Brown Palace Hotel.

Some years back, Radio Shack went out of the tube business. Rather than send everything back to the warehouse, the stores sold off their stock. In some cases, a local repairman would come in, give them $100, and take away a couple thousand tubes.

Just makes you sick, doesn’t it?

And yet, “Jukebox Hero” has to be the secret theme song of all us guitarists, doesn’t it?

OK, call me cruel, but I’ve seen better wood finishing in a high-school wood shop.

Isn’t kapok a type of tree? The seed pods (I would guess) were used for flotation in life jackets.

But hey, when you run out of good names, anything will do. I’m waiting for a “Li” or “Lee” guitar out of China. That should make a good portion of the guitar-playing population happy, because then they could have a guitar with their own name on it! (Li is the most common surname in the world, since so many Chinese have that name.)

The only thing better would be a heavy metal guitar called the “Muhammed.” That’s the most common first name in the world. And we all know every mullah wants to shred with a guitar with his own name emblazoned on it!
this how good music used to be in the 80’s.
That’s strange, I remember in the 80’s people saying that the music then was nowhere near as good as the 60’s. And I’ve hear guys in the early 60’s saying Rock and Roll was a passing fad.

Guess it’s what you get used to when you’re young!
