Bluenote Music was the largest vintage guitar, fx, amp dealer between Washington DC and Nashville.
Their showroom used to be in Salem Va off I 81.
Unfortunately they are no longer in business, but this is what Steve Carlisle had to say about it when they were still going…
“I have over 20 years experience in appraisals, repairs, restoration, and sales. We converted a bar to a larger showroom and now have the only ‘guitar bar’ I know of! We buy, sell, trade, consign all manner of vintage instruments. We understand the collector and the player and appreciate both. We cater to the professional musician and love to keep them employed! Come to see us -either at our sight or at our ‘guitar bar’ -serving up only the finest in vintage instruments!”
You can discuss Bluenote below.

Hallo, und der preis ? bitte Mailen: [email protected]
I have a forest green (I think acrylic because you can see the wood grains)with white center Fender Stratocaster elite. It runs off a 9v battery, has a locking whammy bar, 3 lace sensor single coil pick ups, and instead of a toggle switch it has three push lock buttons. I can’t seem to find any information on it anywhere. I can’t remember how old it is I just know it was made some where between 1978-1984 and the guy I bought it from said it was the last of the elite series made in america. I don’t plan on selling it but I would like some info and appraisal on it. I don’t have the serial number due to the fact that I’m in Iraq and don’t have access to it.
does anybody know, how much coast a Oscar Teller from 1970?
Thank you for your idees.
HI, I dont know, but I have one. Do you think they are expensive ?
The one I have sounds really god
Can anyone give me an idea of how much would be worth my takamine f-340 made in Japon (1962). Serial number is 86111376 if that will help. Thanks
Can anyone give me an idea of how much would be worth my takamine f-340 made in Japon (1962)? Serial number is 86111376 if that will help. Thanks
According to your SN, your guitar was made in 1986, Nov 13th, and was the 76th guitar made that day. 86-11-13-76
Exerpt from the guitar serialization 755 pdf.:
TAKAMINE
The eight digit serial number on Takamine instruments can be
deciphered by breaking down the number into four groups of
two digits, thus:
YYMMDDXX = (YY)(MM)(DD)(XX)
The first two digits (YY) indicate the year; the next two digits
(MM) indicate the month; the third group of digits (DD) indicates
the day of production; and the remaining two digits indicates
the ranking in the number of instruments produced that day. If
a nine-digit serial number
is encountered, assume that the last
three digits indicate the production
ranking.
Example: 91060979 indicates an instrument manufactured
June 9th of 1991, and was the 79th instuments manufactured
that day.

Amazing ! Same nice story to me. I have an "Oscar Teller" 1967. It was a gift from a friend to my father and it is the same you mentioned in your nice story. My father gave it to me when I was married and we still play together. It sounds beautiful. I have no idea of the market value but MY value it is enormous.

hello Bruno. i understand that you are experienced and knowledgeable as regards Oscar teller guitars. I have one from 1970 i think (700513) the label inside is covered by an old shop label (Pierre Beuscher, Paris) so the model number is hidden..i’m worried about damaging the O.T label if i try to take it off so i was wondering if you could help me identify it if i send some photos ? It’s been very badly treated ( i think it was fire damaged), but amazingly it still plays well and sounds good. Any info or advice will be appreciated

: : I bought one of these about eight years ago. Decent sound when picked, a bit flat when strummed but not bad. Electrics surprisingly good for a simple unit (3band eq plus vol)when played through a spirit PA. Good for gigging, rugged and decent sound through PA. Paid about £380 $540). Est S/H £150-250.

I have two Teller guitars. One is a 1965 Model 619, the other a 1970 Model 4. They are both very well made guitars, completely accurate and true in intonation, and easy to play. Neither is among the high end Teller offerings. Teller has a website you may want to check out at

: Gotta Takamine ST-26 Mid 80’s Help!!!!!!!What’s it worth?????
I have a Takamine st26 also, had it since I bought it in 85, I think. At that time, it listed for about $1195, but thats list price. It cost cash, about $800. I did check with a friend of mine that runs a music store and he told me that it would sell street value about $350, less if a music store bought it. It is a great guitar. I love mine, always have. In fact, my nephew is looking for one. If you’re interested in selling, let me know. Wanda

I bought an Oscar Teller from my guitar instructor in 1986. It is a mid sixties model… I loved the way it sounded and played. I passed it on to my son who has it now… It is one of the best sounding guitars I have ever played at any price. I saw one on ebay the other day for $1,430
I have an Oskar Teller "Tellson" dated 1963, still in good order and now played by my son. Is this a rare instrument?

Year by year, the more I play it, the more I am impressed by the clarity and richness of it’s tone.

Does anybody know how to go about getting it appraised?

I have two Oscar Teller classical guitars, and 1970 model 45 and a 1964 61P(?) that were given to me. They sound great and play well. George Gruhn ([email protected]) in nashville, tennessee will tell you what your guitar is worth if you send digital photos and pay $25.00. I have used his service twice but not for the Teller guitars; not yet anyways. Does anyone have the history on Oscar Teller Guitars?

I am a new beginner in playing guitar, i have been playing drums for 20 years but stopped, and now i want to play guitar, i got an old fender copy (Wester) eletric guitar, i used many hours to fix it up new paint and more, so i made a deal with a guy, he got my Wester and i got his old OSCAR TELLER MODEL 4 1968,
I think i will get a good start on my guitar playing 🙂 and i will take care of it for shure,
PS: my first projekt is to learn to play "stairway to heven" with my daughter, who playt the flute (11 years)
thats was all, i understand that Oscar teller is a guitar you have to take care of, right… ? 🙂
<<Does anyone have the history on Oscar Teller Guitars?>>
I bought an Oscar Teller while living in Austria in 1969. The Oscar Teller had the finest sound of any guitars I had ever heard, and that was why I bought it I knew nothing then about the guitars reputation. I still have the guitar today and it sounds better than ever.
I went back to Austria in 1996 and kept my eyes opened for any music shops that still sold the Oscar Tellers. I found one but it was closed, The guitars displayed were pricey: About $800.00 and up. My cost $79.00 in 1969 but I wouldn’t part with it for any price (although it is now mostly played by my son who is a much better guitarist than I am.)

I was stationed in Germany in the city of Wurzburg in 1970. I bought an Oscar Teller Model 5 guitar for DM 250.00
Here in the United States, the name is not well known and prices are depressed for that reason. Since you are in Denmark, it may be easy for you to contact Duesser’s Musikhaus in Wurzburg. They know much more about the value of these very fine guitars.
Just take a look at http://www.teller-gitarren.de.

I have an Oscar teller Guitar model G/M from 1910 in good condition
all of you wondering about info on your teller guitars should send wolfgang teller an email and simply ask him. i emailed him a brief description of the model/serial numbers and date and a couple pictures and was able to find out my model 50 was finished march 9 1970 and was made of mahogany back and sides with a spruce top. it was made by horst teller (oskar’s son). in 1970 it cost $234 american. it was purchased from a small music store in a tiny village in germany for my adoptive uncles older brother (this i already knew). anyway just google wolfgang teller guitars and you should be able to find his contact info at the bottom of his website. wolfgang is oskar’s grandson.

I have an Oscar Teller Guitar made in 1966 model#411 . I would like to no if it has any value. The label inside also has this #661103114 on it. What does this mean?
year 66
month 11
day 03
serial number or index number 114
I have a 1966 Oscar Teller (I can’t read model number), a 1971 O.T. Nr. 740, and a 1971 O.T Nr. 61P. They all have great sound, with clear and well balanced tones. I’ve played many classical guitars, high end ones and others. No matter what, these guitars surpass most others in excellence. I find it very difficult putting a dollar value on them. I don’t know if other people share this experience as well. Please tell me what you think.
Great guitar. Good structure, fine tonal woods, remarkable resonance, and balance. I own quite a few guitars in that category, and I rank it with Hopf classical. Both excellent (mine is a 1966) It’s a very reliable guitar that shows substantial improvement in sound and tones as the wood ages. I would buy another one if I find it.
The Oscar Teller model 3 made in 1970 was a wedding present I purchased for my wife Barbara when we were married in January 1971. It was purchased from a music shop in Karlsruhe W Germany.

I have an Oscar Teller guitar Modell nr. 81P anno 1970 made in West Germany nr. 701207
It still sounds great.
Is it a rare instrument. Please e-mail me
greetings from the Netherlands

Hallo Nico,
Misschien wel helemaal niet meer van toepassing maar ik ben wel benieuwd
naar jouw ervaringen met dit model 81P. Ik heb er zelf een uit 1971 die recen-
telijk gerestaureerd is. Een degelijk gebouwd instrument met goede materialen
maar de absolute top vind ik het niet. Maar dan heb ik het ook over Contreras
en Ramirez concertgitaren. Wat donkerder van geluidskleur en wat minder rijk
in boventonen.

Im looking to buy a guitar Ive seen that has "Jason" on the headstock. Im lead to believe that it is an Ibanez made in 1962, model no 884. It was renamed "Jason" for the Australian market apparently. I was wondering what kind of collectable value it has if anyone knows.
It looks to be in fair condition, and is all original and in working order. Sunburst finish, with what looks like four chrome single coil pickups grouped in doubles like a humbucker.
Any info before I buy is much appreciated 🙂
Thanks
Whoops! Here is my real message:
I just bought the most bizarre Ibanez guitar I’ve ever seen, and there is a tiny sticker on the back of it that says "Model No. 884". I can’t find any pictures of it on the internet, but it’s electronics are exactly as Gorn described in a previous posting. Instead of "Jason" on the headstock it says "Ibanez" in cursive, and mine is neon red, not sunburst. Believe it or not, I bought mine for $145. Of course, I bought it covered with stickers and chipping paint and no tremelo arm, so i’d imagine in better condition it’d be worth a little more.
It sounds terrible clean, but in my opinion, sounds spectacular with some compression and some distortion.
Can anyone tell me anything else about this guitar? Does this model really date back to 1962? What country may it have been built in? I guess Japan.
Thanks.
Bryan, yes, it is indeed is a 1962 ibanez 884. it was the first electric guitar I ever owned. I was 8 years old. Mine was also red and even more red when my x set our house on fire and left my things inside. I miss that guitar. It didn ‘t sound too bad on my fender deluxe reverb amp with some distortion. Back then we made our own distortion boxes.
Do you know anyone selling a Kay Barney Kessel?

Hi:
The A series of Yamaha Grand Concert models (GC3a,5a,7a,10a,15a & GC20a) were made from 1979 to 1985. They are unique among the GC models because they have the smallest body size of all the series. They are closer in size to a Granada school guitar, which is interesting because during the 1960s, Yamaha paid Granada guitarmaker Eduardo Ferrer an enormous amount of money to teach the Yamaha guitarmakers how to make classical guitars.
The GC3a,5a, and the 7a have laminated back and sides. Some 7a models have solid back and laminated sides. The 10a also has a solid back and laminated sides.
Regarding price, I have seen these guitars sold on ebay from $350 to $550 depending on the hour or day of the week. On ebay, all it takes are 2 bidders (or 1 bidder and a reserve price) to set the price of the guitar.

i have a hofner violin bass with the old pole-style pickups (four screws and four little bars). it carries the serial n° 452. can anyone tell me what year it is please, as well as its approximate value? it has been played a great deal and shows it, but still sounds good and has a remarkably precise and light action. thanxalot, hugh
Hi Hugh
It very much depends on the condition of the bass and the specific features (the closer to McCartney specs the higher the value). If you sent some pictures I’ll give you an approx. value.

Where did you find a serial #????
This popular thread has been given its own page : 1921 H.C. Silvestre Violin
I have played a 1905 Silvestre et Mocoutel for more than 30 years. Last appraisal was for just under $30K. It is serial number 616. I play professionally. It’s a really good violin. It was made in the Paris shop and besides the maker label, it also has the woodburn "HC Silvestre".
Hello,
Thank you for responding. I agree with you that it’s a great violin. Since I no longer play, I was looking into selling and was curious to see what it was worth and maybe get some more information about it. Again, thanks for your post! I really appreciate it
Hello! Thank you for responding. I agree that it is a good violin. However, since I no longer play I wanted to get an estimate of what it might be worth to sell. Anyways, thank so much for your post. I really appreciate it. =)
Hi Lisa,
I also have an H.C. Silvestre violin. I have learned he is the nephew of a great master violin maker. He too in his time became quite well known. My violin is a bit older than yours and was his 49th (if they are really his). I have tracked a chat discussion that indicates that there may be some fraudulent violins out there. I hope neither of ours is. If they are the real thing the prices are in the tens of thousands of dollars. It would be worth it to have a good luthier check this out for you. Here is a website which lists a Silvestre and its sale price. http://www.violins.com.za The price on this website similar to other prices I have found from other dealers and websites. Good luck. Let me know if you learn anything else too. But if you love to play…hold on to it.

I own an H C Silvestre guitar and can’t find any info on them at all? Anyone know where I can look?
It is in great shape and looks to be some kind of maple back and sides. I understand it to be from the late 1800’s but the lable says nothing after 18__ for the date. I was also told it was one of the first steel stringed guitars from the turn of the century. It is a 12 fret slot head. It has a true dove tail neck to peg head joint and the neck heel at the body is also made of 4 pieces of wood laminated.
Any info appreciated
thanks

Hi,
I have a H C Sylvestre violin, the label inside says Lyon 1872.
This instrument belonged to my Mother-in Law who was a music teacher and also played in a band years ago.
I am guessing this fiddle is no longer for sale, as its been along time. But, if for some reason it is available please email me at [email protected]. Thank you so much.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for your response. I actually forgot about this posting and just remembered only a few months ago. I’m surprised that I received a response from you after year. I appreciate the information you have provided. I was looking to sell my violin as I no longer play (I quit 6 years ago). It’s a excellent violin and I’m hoping to find a new owner who can make more use out of it. Anyways, thanks again for the post. Take care =)
I have a violin made my H.C. Silvestre. It was made in 1921 and it was the 300th and last violin made before he died. That’s all I know about it. Does anyone know how much it’s worth?
