I have a Madeira Guitar by Guild A-25 that has a beautiful deep sound to it. I have arthritis and can’t play so well anymore and would like to sell the guitar to someone who would appreciate this gem of a guitar. It is old but in good condition..no cracks, has a case with it. The neck, sides and back are a darker golden brown and the front is a light golden color. "Madiera" is inlaid in what looks like Abalone at the head. Please let me know if anyone has interest in it.

Yes. I have been looking for awhile in hopes to find one I could afford for my husband. He loves the sweet sounds of Guilds but prices have been out of our league. Don’t let our email suggest anything. I’m not looking to resale. [email protected]
MY MESSAGE WAS FOR KATHY GLOVER FROM FLORIDA??? HOW MUCH WERE YOU LOOKING TO GET FOR THIS ACOUSTIC GUITAR??? AND IS IT STILL FOR SALE OR IM GUESSING YOU PROBABLY SOLD IT ALREADY??? BUT I FIGURED I WOULD TRY AND ASK??? IM DON, FROM NEW JERSEY.. PLEASE JUST EMAIL ME BACK WITH ANY INFO OR PICTURE OF IT AND WHETHER IT WAS SOLD OR NOT??? THANK YOU..
Distributed by Guild. My sister recieved one for a gift in the early seventies. She never learned to play so I relieved her of it.It cost $150.00 new at that time which even then was relatively cheap. At the time a decent guild 6 string acoustic ran about twice that much. I still own it and would never part with it. The strings ring like a bell and sounds better the older it gets. Holds tune forever. good action with no string buzz. Check out reviews on harmony central. Its definately a keeper.
I have a Madeira Guitar by Guild that I have had since about 2005 I got it at a garadge sale. I cannot seem to find any information on this guitar. Can anyone give me any information on this? The serial tag on the inside says A-2.
Thanks. Mitch.
i have an a2 i found it in the dumpster!!! had a broken bridge. i epoxied it and put xtra lite strings on it, now its my favorite guitar. it was made in japan as a martin copy worth about 200-500
Hey Mitch I have a Madiera guitar as well. Mine is a flat top acoustic. The serial number is AR 30. I dont know to much about Madiera except that it is Guilds import model. Like a epiphone is to a Gibson. I got my Madiera guitar at a pawn shop I traded a Washburn for it. I do think that it is a guitar that is not made anymore so you might want to hang on to your it could be a collectors item.

I have a Guild Medeira Model A-11 serial number 00775 that I bought brand new in 1980 and I still have it. My son took it to learn in college and now has returned it. I am beginnning to start relearning to play it. I love it. I had to have the bridge and endpin set replaced. I still have the original case and strap that I purchased at the same time. I purchased in in a music store in Lowell, MA.
I’ve had this guitar (in the case)since early 70’s. Looked great till 2 yrs. ago. As beatin and abused as it has been (kids)it still "rings" with the best of them.If I ever buy another guitar its gonna look just like this one.90$ at a pawn shop,to this day best buy I ever made.Hidden treasure, hold on to it!!!!!

Madeira guitars were imported and distributed by Guild. The early ones were built in Japan, the later ones in Korea. They generally receive very good reviews, although the ones from Japan seem to be slightly superior.
I have a pair of Madiera Guitars, a 6 and a 12 string, both Guild, with s/n, and both made in “Spain”, so I have been led to believe. Was I duped?
I have a Madeira A30-M which I have had since 1977, I bought it from a guy I was in the U.S.Navy with. I payed him $75. I love the sound and feel, I play for my own enjoyment, and friends. This guitar has been to Africa, Amsterdamn, the Artic Circle, below the equator and a few other places I can’t remember…It’s got a blonde body and I see no serial number. Can anyone email me with more info like where is the serial number? what is the approx. value?
: Thanks.

: I have a Madeira Guitar by Guild Model A-1S. Label
inside printed "made in Korea" – "adjusted and distributed by Guild". A gift, never played. Any info ?

The Madeira Guitars made in Korea are not worth as much as those made in Japan… the workmanship was of lesser quality.
Do you still have the guitar?

: I have a A-25 model. Plays and sounds great!!!
I bought Madeira A-25 at Ivor Mairants in London in 1982,having tried five or six guitars. That guitar was simply in a different class compared to other GBP 200
guitars I played prior to it. I noticed later that it was written on a label in the sound hall " Adujusted and distributed exclusively by Guild" and "Made in Japan". I have been playing it since then and the sound is so beautifull and playing is so easy. It needed any adjustments after all these years. In a way it is pity because I have not been able to justify prices of other much more expensive guitars since I had it.
You sellin it?
: You sellin it? I am interested in selling my guitar.I have had it since 1973 Serial A-20, its in mint condition and I am asking $300.00 for it. Comes with a case and alot of memories. If your interested contact me by the email address provided. I can send photos from all views. regards, Mike

I have a madeira guitar Model A30M that wash handed down to me and I would really appreciate any information anyone could give me on this. It’s a model A30M in very good condition. Mary Ann
: Thanks.
Mary Ann, I have a A-20 that I have had for 30 years. They were made in Japan for Guild and are worth $250 to $300 in mint condition. Not much else I can tell you except its an exceptionally good sounding guitar and they are well made. Mine still looks like new after all this time. So they did something right when they contracted Japan to make these up for them. Hope this helps you. Mike

: I have a Madeira Guitar by Guild and am tring to establ;ish it’s current value. It was purchased in the early 1980’s.

Hello,
I am not a musician. However, I am in possession of a very nice guitar. I try to describe the Guitar as best as I can. I was told that it is a CLASSIC GUITAR. 6 Strings.
The label inside reads âMADEIRA MODEL C 900 by GUILD ADJUSTED and DISTRIBUTED EXCLUSIVELY by GUILD SERIAL.â The Guitar used to belong to the Music Professor of one of School of Music. It is about 20 years old. In Good Condition. Beautiful Wood. Very nice sound. It has an original case.
I have a few pictures made. If you are interested please go to this address

: R Culbertson, There is no site, I have talked to collectors and the range is $250 to $300 in mint condition. they are well made guitars that Guild had Japan build for them in the early 70’s. Hope that helps. Mike
I have recently purchased a Guild Madeira electric bass from a friend… I wish I could find out more about these great instruments as well. I have never before found such playability in a bass. Mine has a passive pickup selector switch and the previous owner had the bridge worked on. The tone is emaculate with almost any type of music. I don’t think that these guitars were very expensive, but considering nobody seems to know anything about them… I think I’ll hold on to mine awhile.
I have an old electric Madeira EG-60 BLK ( for black ) 2 humbucker pickups, reverb switch, 3 position picku selector, tone and volume controls. Brass hardware, adjustable bridge, adjustable pickup position. I bought it cheap on ebay, but it’s a great player. smooth frets, accurate tuning, very nice fretboard, easy to play with a wide range of tone possibilities, from hard clean to soft and mellow.
I’m not going to sell it. I couldn’t get what it’s really worth. quality construction all around.
I have madeira acoustic guitar model P600M. I bought it in 1981 or 82. I have never seen this model mentioned in the forum. Does anyone know anything about it?
John
I purchased mine about the same time. I call it my wide body blond because its sides and back are blond wood. I love the rich deep tone of it. Everyone who plays it or hears the tone makes a comment. I love my wide body blond.
lI have same feeling for my guitar, although mine is not blond, but rich golden-brown. I too was attracted to it by the deep mellow bases. I now play a classical guitar so the Madeira neck seems really slim by comparison. I have to add that my guitar has a very beautiful inlay of its name on the headstock. Most Madeiras mentioned, or shown on line only have a decal. I would be interested in learning how much this mint condition guitar is worth.
i also have a madiera a-2 any info please manufacturing dates matierials value etc. ive had it for about 12 years and expect it was at least 10 years old when i got it its vwery durable with a very tinny sound.
please help
: Thanks.

Go to the Harmony Central website and click on user reviews, then guitar by manufacturer, then pick Madeira or Guild – good luck. There is a neat discussion forum on there as well.

: I have a Madeira A30R acoustic 6-string guitar, bought 30 years ago, very good condition, wondering what it might be worth on the market?
I have a Madeira A-20, I bought 30 years ago and is in mint condition. Then best price I could find was a collector who said he would pay $250 to $300.00 depending on condition. They are made in Japan and well constructed. I am assuming my model is made from Maple. I am selling it as I have severe arthritis in my hands and can no longer enjoy playing it. I just want to sell it to someone who will appreciate it and care for it as I have. Good luck with yours in whatever you decide to do with it.

Madeira was guilds import brand. I wrote guild to ask them information on this guitar. They wrote back and told me they had no records about the import. At the time Guild was under poor management.
I too have a madeira guitar. You seem to know more about it than me. I did not even know guild made them. The model number on mine is EG-41
I have a Madeira guitar that I bought about 1977 new. The store owner (in Portland, Oregon) told me that Maderia was the Guild’s import brand. According to him, these were Guild’s designs made in Japan.
I have a Madeira 12 string guitar by Guild that I bought about 1977 new. It is a beautiful sounding guitar. I was wondering if Guild has any good quality Classical Guitars. I’m in the market for one.
Guild made beautiful classical guitars around the early 60’s they were in a series called "MARK"
eg: Guild MARK III or Guild MARK IV etc. they were expensive at the time but well build and well worth it!
Do you still own this guitar?
I too have a madeira guitar. You seem to know more about it than me. I did not even know guild made them.
i also have
Madeira Guild Guitar with the model number: A 30M
i need any imformation on this guitar
it would be greatly appreciated
Bought mine in 1978. Still have the receipt taped inside the case.
Wonderful machine. Just pulled it out of the case after 25 years and adjusted the truss, added new Martin lightweight strings and bridge pins, installed a piezo pickup and 1/4″ plug through enlarged strap pin hole. Unbelievable! Now playing through a Fender Acoustasonic 90 amp. Wow! The tonal combinations are impressive.
This Madeira is still like new, no scratches and a flawless finish.

I have a model A-20, I have had for 30 years. Its in mint condition and is one of the best sounding guitars I have ever played. There made in Japan, mine is Maple constructed and the name is pearl inlaid.I’ve been told its worth 250 to $300 on the collectors market. I was hoping for more after 30 years of caring for it. But thats life. Hope this helps you out. Mike
I have an A-35R. it has a mahogony fretboard, rosewood sides back and neck, and black and pearl inlays. i am the third generation to have it. it has a very mellow sound, almost enough to make you feel lost in some far off land. i was told by my local guitar shop that he wouldnt put it on his shelf for less than $850. the label however does not say where it was built. only the name, model# and serial. for sentimental reasons, it could not be bought, but for sound, well, its as good as if not better than my dad’s $1200 2000 guild. IMHO, i would hold on to your madeira rather than get 250-300 for it. at that age, its just getting broken in.
Mine’s an A25S – big, warm sound, beautiful. I still get a kick from the puzzled looks when people first play it, then they look inside and go "Ah… Guild." I’m assuming mine’s a low-end Spruce model, but I wouldn’t part with it.
I’m wondering if the M in A30M might refer to Mahogany. I have a Madiera A30R, and perhaps that signifies rosewood?
The M is for maple. My A30M was all maple finish – neck back, sides and top.

I’m also unable to find any info on Madeira Guitars. I have one and think it’s great. the sound is great and it plays as nice as any guitar you’ll find out there
Mine is a model A-32SB. It has the name Madeira in mother-of-pearl inlaid in the head. I have had it for about 10 years now.
When I bought it, I was looking for a NEW Fender–this one was VERY USED, but it outplayed all of the new acoustic Fenders I could find in the shop.
The owner of the shop let it go for cheap, but I still haven’t found one I like as well. The crack that starting to creep under the bridge has me looking hard, though.
I have the same guitar you do, a Madeira A-32SB. Do you know anything about it–what it’s worth, why no one seems to know what a madeira guitar is?
It’s pretty beautiful, isn’t it?
the Madeira is worth between 200 to 300 if Korean and 300 to 400 if made in Japan.
This all depends on condition and age.
I have a Madeira by Guild it`s Korean It`s an A-1.I have`nt found any A-1 Madeira`s any where online.

I have an A-11, serial #00732… and I’ve found exactly one reference to the model online, on reviews.harmony-central.com (mentioned in passing in a review of a different guitar…). They don’t even list the model in their guitar reviews! They do have the A-1 defined, at least, and give it high marks.

Jamie, I read your article and you mentioned your guild was starting to crack, just so happens I am selling my A-20 that I purchased in 1973. It’s still in mint condition and sounds just like it did 30 years ago. If you send me a e-mail I can send you back some photo’s and give you my location. Regards, Mike
I have a Madeira Guitar by Guild that I have had since about 1979. I cannot seem to find any information on this guitar. Can anyone give me any information on this? The serial tag on the inside says A-2.
Thanks.
i have a beautiful Madeira acoustic guitar. Label inside is oval and reads , Madeira by Guild A-16 serial number. Looks similar to the A-30. It is in near perfect condition (only a couple of small scratches on the back. I can’t find anything on this exact guitar and it’s value. I believe it’s a rarity. This instrument has a beautiful sound. From what I’ve read ,I believe it was made in Japan in the 70s. I’m welling to sell. Has original hard case (lining is a bit ruff,
) but the case is still very much intact and usable. new set of bronze replacement strings, pick up, electric tuner, guitar scale box.
I just purchased one of the A-32SB models yesterday. It is a very solid guitar. The strings need to be replaced but it is in great shape! I, like others, have not had much luck finding anything on the internet about these guitars. This one appears to be made in Japan based upon the oval decal inside. (i read somewhere that the Korean decals were rectangular). If anyone finds out anything new about this particular model I would appreciate the info. I have seen conflicting information about manufacture date ranges.
Madeira A-32SB
Dreadnought
Sunburst
I also have an A-32SB Madeira with the oval decal inside the sound hole. I was happy to hear that someone else also has that same model since I have never seen or heard about another one until today. Its a beautiful sunburst darker finish with nice wood grain on the sides and back. It has the single arch top on the headstock with what appears to be white abalone inlaid with the Madeira name. The only thing that I have found out, is that it was listed in 1982. I think the SB stands for sunburst and the A-32 denotes a higher end acoustic model that they offered. I bought mine in the late 80’s and its seen a lot of playing since then. My only problem with it is trying to pull it out of my 85 year old dads hands when I want to play it!! I would love to swap pictures with you to see if there really is another one just like mine. If you ever decide to sell yours, please let me know. Buying another one for my dad may be the only way I can ever get mine back!
picked one up damaged at a yard sale with pile of musical stuff
fixed by extending the string hook up from bridge to metal extender at end of guitar by the strap hanger, like an old Gibson arch
installed a used bridge, some old strings to stretch the wood out
and it sounds fabulous
might consider sale, but note these are famous for the string tension pulling up the mid mounted bridge string connector off the face of the guitar, but the new rig puts the stress on the end of the guitar…..also adjusted the string play low….product of the used bridge
want to set up with light electric guitar strings, as the body projects highs very precise, lows good for drone sound, has a beautiful voice
past history….hippie gal from 80’s bought new, played a dozen times and parked under the stairs in closet till 2016, when I bought it…..smelled bad like a pocket book….took a year till I could play it, had to toss case
I think I would like $200 and shipping negotiable for project trades……
I cannot locate any models or serial # similar to my Guild.
Serial 75120903
Model A-30m
Probably 40 years old. Pristine condition.
Thanks in advance!
I have a Madiera Korean made guitar model no. C10NT with a 6 digit serial number. I just want to know it’s price value, by the way it’s not on sale.
I have Guild Maderia A-1serial number 1176 I found in a scrap metal pile about 10 years ago. I was just wandering the age and value of the guitar. All the records I have found say it was built in 1953.i just wanted to know if the information I found was correct and if anyone could give me a round about value. the outside of it is in good shape. however the X bracing on one side I believe the glue has come loose because it is just hanging there. So, so I have a pile of fire wood or an earlyish guild guitar?
Guild developed the Madeira line in the early 1970’s to build affordable “folk” guitars, but they also built Classical, Acoustic and Electric guitars and basses, even Mandolins and Banjos. Manufacturing was started in Japan when the Japanese factories were starting to come into their own and started building pretty good guitars at a reasonable price, thanks to cheap labor.
Guild didn’t start until 1952, and didn’t add the Madeira name until about 1972 or 3. My Dreadnought is a great guitar with a big sound, you do not have firewood (please send it to me before torching). Depending on the condition, most A-1s are going for between $99 and $250 depending on condition and if it has an original case. Sounds like you would need to get professional help re-gluing the brace (don’t just drip Elmer’s glue in there). As long as the neck is not warped, you have a nice guitar there.
Hi! I`ve got a Madeira EG-41 BLK. It is an electric guitar. Just wanted to know how old is it and how much would be the price if it works completly good.
Waiting your help. Thanks. Victor.
Just found an A-20 Label:l “Adjusted and distributed exclusively by Guild” I can’t find a serial number anywhere on the guitar. It still has the original label but no serial #. It is blond. Plays and sounds great but has nicks, scratches and crazing in the finish Anyone have any information?
I have a Maderia A-9 serial#5101995. I have no idea what it is worth. I had it for many decades. If some one knows what it might be worth can you drop me a email? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanx. Ray.
My A-30R i bought in U.K 35 years ago and it still looks and sounds the same as when i bought it, which surprises me with the amount of traveling its done. It came with me through my working life in the oil industry and is still with me in my new home in the Philippines. I use it only for my personnel pleasure and i don’t have any plans to part with.
I bought this guitar early1970’s haven’t played it in 40 Yrs. want to know what it’s wrought
Hi ,
I have a Guild Madeira A30 M and I would appreciate advice as to the best strings to use on it .
I too have a Madeira A-30M, which I purchased new in 1978 (still have original receipt taped inside the case). This guitar is still like new with no scratches or dings. The blond finish is still flawless.
Just getting back into playing after 25 years or so, and bought a Telecaster Modern Player Plus and Acoustasonic 90 amp. I was so pleased with the ease of play on these 62 year-old fingers, that I decided to break out the old Madeira and freshen it up.
I just drilled out the lower strap pin and installed an AXL pick-up, adjusted the truss and lowered the bridge.
Through much research and investigation, the Martin MSP4100 Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings appear to be the best choice for me.
We’ll find out,
Rick
I have a 1973 same model and I have always used Fender 10 Wound. You may want to try. Very nice sound for the price.

I can’t tell you much outside of I have one with an earlier serial#. I checked the Martin website (Mguitar.com) and the DM series is called the "Road Series"
It will also show the manufactured date. Mine is listed as 1951 however I bought it new in about 1981. Was your made by Signa Guitars?

has anyone seen one for sale? Beeen searching guitar sites and auctions to no avail
I have a Guild D25 Serial # 0G629 probably dates to 1960-70. I’m the second owner, bought it in Knoxville Tennessee in 1971. It’s definitely seen The Road although for the past 25 years it’s been retired.
I believe it to be all mahogany since the top’s been quite dark since I bought it. Lovely old guitar, very mellow, thin neck, sounds really good with Martin Silk & Steels. Very full highs for recording.
Probably wouldn’t sell it…just wanted to praise the Old Guilds. I had a bunch of them: Two early ’60’s F-212 Twelve-Strings, A 1965 Starfire 12 String, a 1964 Mark 2 or 3 Classical, and this D-25.
The newer Guilds don’t hold a candle to the Guilds of the New Jersey & Rhode Island days… So much for Fender’s Acoustic Line.

I have a Guild D-25 for sale — dark red (rosewood?) finish. Slight finish wear, with a few small dings/scratches, but beautiful tone. Hasn’t been played for years, so am willing to part with it for a reasonable price. Have photos, if you’re interested. Guitar dates from approx 1976. Let me know if you’re interested.
I am looking for a red/burgundy Guild D-25 accoustic in mint condition w/case. A 70’s model would be nice. Please contact me with pic’s. Thanks.
I am the original owner of a 1070 Guild D25 in mint condition. It has the beautiful dark amber mohogany face.
I wasn’t intending to sell it but i will consider an offer.
You can call me at (949) 362-7446
I have a 1971 D-25, serial number 58008 that I’m looking to sell. Email me if you’re interested.

I have just what you’d like if you’re still in the market.
Serial # DA1154423 is a 1974 dark red solid mahogany back & sides with a solid red spruce top. It has a factory installed Fishman transducer. It’s in excellent condition with two very hard to spot small dings on the top and one by
the RCA input. $875 and it’s on it’s way. Make it a good home! Call me at 843 853 6470 if you want to talk live.
Just thought you’d like to know
What about a 68 D25 BR (which I have)?
All D-25’s were NOT made with mahogany tops. Mine definitely has a solid spruce top.

What do you know about Martin D-42? How many are made? How does the sound compare to others?

Alright, Like everyone knows Martin and Co makes one of the nicest accoustic guitars known to man. I currently own one and I have played my whole life. The sound on a Martin Guitar is unmatchable to any other guitar. To my knowledge there was a limited number made on the Martin D-42. I know that you are lucky to own such a nice guitar. For further questions just take it to your local guitar store and they will be more than happy to tell you about your guitar.
Iam a 10th grader at bardstown high and looking for info on the fender strat. if you could send me any info of the general facts it would be apprecatied.

screw you
well just saying i need info on strats leaves a very very broad realm.first of all there are tons of different models(standard strat, american std, delux……)naturaly the cheaper ones dont sound AS good as the more exepensive models(this doesnt mean they sound bad though, standards are the cheapest but i have one and it still sound pretty good).you should go to harmony central.com and look at some user reviews on fender strats if you would like to learn more about the fender stratocasters
Did Martin ever produce D-35s using mahogany for the back centerpiece? Thanks in advance
im not sure if they ever made it, but if you are really interested in one you can contact the martin custom shop and theyll make it for you
