Hi, has anyone ever heard of a guitar company called 'Joodee'..I',m interested in a bass by the name of 'Joodee Performer'..looks like a precision, plays like a precision. Any one got any ideas on their history/quality etc...many thanks.
Hi, Andy - Joodee is a Japanese brand, built in the 1970's and ?80s by (I guess) one of the big Jap manufacturing houses. These are quality instruments, similar to the current Tokai range of Fender/Gibson clones. The Performer Bass I bought new in 1978 is still my main axe, and I wish I could find another for a back-up (a little decal on the headstock says "For Professional Use" - way cool ;-)
Japanese guitars and basses circa 1980 have just about the best quality/price ratio ever, and Joodees are definitely worth looking out for.

There´s nothing special about the Joodee´s original PU wiring - standard P-Bass schematics apply. Any search engine will turn up a lot of sources. Here's one:

Generally speaking I'm a guitarist but I have gig coming up where I'm needed to play bass. 2 friends kindly offered to lend me there instruments, a Yamaha TRB 5 string and a 70's Daion P-Bass copy. After playing both I chose the Daion hands down. Besides the fact I get confused on 5 strings, The Daion is solid as a brick outhouse both in sound and feel. It only does one thing - rock, but it does it far better than the vey nice Yamaha could hope for. It seems in the 70's Daion were making Fenders better than Fender were making Fenders.

do it on what guitar strings last longer...
u can get an electric sander or sumthing and tape a pick onto it...then time how long the string lasts with the pick moving back and forth over it
That's what i'm doing for my science fair anyway...

Greg.
Try going to major guitar web pages, then click on their history part of their web. I would go to these 4. rickenbacker.com, gibson.com, epiphone.com and fender.com.
Rickenbacker was the first to put magnetic pickups on a guitar. It was call the pan, because that's what it looked like. That was circa 1935. A real good book on it is (Electric Guitars- the illustrated encyclopedia)it is a hard cover book I found at Sam's Club (Wal-Mart)about $20.00. Good luck on your project.
