Line 6 AMPLIFi - NAMM 2014
Line 6 unveils the new AMPLIFi amp series, featuring Bluetooth connectivity and multiple speaker configuration.
Line 6 Now Under Yamaha
This multi-purpose amp is packed with features, remotely controllable via iPad/iPhone and can double as a wireless bluetooth speaker. Its unique 5-speaker stereo design allows it to work both as a guitar amp and a hi-fi sound system.
The slogan "The guitar amp, reinvented" may be a bit of an exaggeration, but AMPLIFi is true modern utility amp that many guitar players will appreciate.
Paul Foeckler, CEO of Line 6, said "Eighteen years ago, Line 6 revolutionized the guitar amp market by releasing the world’s first modeling amplifier. And now we’re doing it again. AMPLIFi completely redefines the guitar amplifier, bringing together our customers’ musical and personal lives like no other device."
The new 5-Speaker stereo design used by Line 6 is unique in the amp market, it features two tweeters, two mid-bass drivers and a custom guitar speaker. This allows the amp to cover a wider frequency spectrum, essentially giving it the capabilities of a stereo powered speaker. This makes AMPLIFi ideal for guitar players that utilize digital amp modeling effects, while traditional players with analog gear can still utilize the basic amp functions.
Aside from helping with guitar duties, this amp can easily double as a wireless Bluetooth speaker system. It is compatible with all major smartphones, tablets and computers that allow Bluetooth streaming. The full-range speakers deliver hi-fi sounds while the guitar speaker delivers the low-end, functioning as a subwoofer.
With these two features, AMPLIFi provides a simple solution for enjoying music and playing guitar, you can use it as an amp, jam with your favorite track or use it as your speaker when you are listening to music.
For convenient wireless control, Line 6 developed an iOS app especially for the amp. The AMPLIFi Remote app gives you deep control over your tone, and it comes with a unique feature called Tone-Matching, where the app will change your guitar tone to match the tracks that you want to play with.
To further expand your sounds, the app features "Cloud" integration, which means that you can easily upload your best patches for other users to try, and you can try other tones made by other musicians around the world. Unfortunately Android users will have to wait for a compatible app to be developed.
Max Gutnix, VP of Products and Marketing at Line 6, summarizes: "AMPLIFi is a groundbreaking new amp that promises to change the way guitarists jam, practice and enjoy music forever. It sounds absolutely amazing and delivers a uniquely incredible experience that players of all levels are going to love. Whether listening to music, jamming with friends or creating inspiring new tones to share, AMPLIFi is going to rock your world."
Currently there are two models available - AMPLIFi 75 (75 Watt - $399) and AMPLIFi 150 (150 Watt - $499). Both amps are now on display at Room 212A at the 2014 NAMM Show. For the complete specifications and other details, visit Line 6.
