Bias iOS - Amp Match Update

Positive Grid updates their popular iOS amp designer/modeler Bias Amp to v1.5.12, now Amp Match compatible.

Bias iOS Amp Match Update

This free update for existing Bias Amp users allows the iOS app to download the Amp Match models that were created using the desktop version Bias Professional. This further opens up the sonic capabilities of the app to include tones that are "amp matched" from actual hardware.

Amp Match is Positive Grid's version of the "Profiler", a technology that goes beyond amp modeling by giving end users the ability to model existing amps. This lifted the previous limitation of just choosing from manufacturer provided amp models, allowing everyone to model their favorite amps conveniently and giving them the ability to use, share or trade these models as they choose.

Bias Professional for Desktop was the first Positive Grid software to get the Amp Match feature, and the company describes the process as follows, "Amp Match accurately captures the tone of any tube amplifier by analyzing and compare a currently designed BIAS amp model with the sound of a real mic'd amp or file source. It then executes the tonal compensation and enhancement needed to make this current amp model accurately match the target amplifier."

Since the release of Bias Professional, there are now quite a number of Amp Match models available for download, created by guitarists, producers and engineers. Even professional guitarists have joined the fray making their personal amp models available, the list of artists currently include Ola Englund, Mark Holcomb, Rusty Cooley and many others.

Now these created Amp Match models are compatible with the iOS app version of Bias, which gives a whole new meaning to having your amp in your pocket. You can now download any of the Amp Match models from the ToneCloud into Bias Amp on your iPhone and load the amps for your personal enjoyment. Note that their other iOS apps were also updated to be Amp Match compatible, this includes JamUp and Bias FX. This means that you can now adjust and expand your virtual pocket-sized guitar rig to accommodate Amp Match models of real amps.

The only thing that's left for Positive Grid to do now is to give Bias Amp iOS the ability to do the actual Amp Match on its own, unfortunately this magical process remains exclusive to Bias Desktop Professional users only. And since this is a free update, I don't see any reason to complain.

The updated Bias Amp for iOS is currently available for free download for existing users. If you don't have the app yet, you can get it from the iTunes Appstore for $19.99. For more information and other details, visit Positive Grid.
