Galileo is Catalinbread’s latest overdrive pedal, combining the CB30 and Naga Viper pedal into a unit aims to churn out Brian May’s modified Vox AC30 tone.
This pedal was born out of the combined idea of Pro Guitar Shop and Catalinbread, which ended up aiming to mimic the classic tone of Queen’s iconic guitarist.
The Galileo pedal takes the best elements from Catalinbread’s popular pedals. It is comparable to a hot-rodded version of the CB30 pedal, with an additional fine tuned treble boost, based on the circuitry of their Naga Viper pedal.
According to Catalinbread, the combined overdrive and treble boost aims to provide you with a tone that is similar to that of Brian May’s wall of modified Vox AC30 amps. Instead of just describing the tone, Catalinbread has uploaded a couple of demo videos so you can judge the tone for yourself.

The Galileo pedal provides you with simple controls knobs so you won’t get lost in setting up. You get basic equalizer control via the Treble and Bass knobs, and you also get to control the output via the Volume knob. Further tone shaping is provided by the pedal’s Gain knob, which lets you dial in a broad range of overdrive tones. Finally, the pedal has a Top Boost knob, which allows you to control how much high register definition you want when you step on the Top Boost switch.
The pedal is not just about sounds, Catalinbread combined the features into a stylish gold housing that carries a nice looking rock and roll insignia. Since the Galileo pedal is actually two pedals in one, it is a bit bigger than the average pedal, it measures 4.7″ x 3.7″. It can run on a 9v DC adapter or battery.
The Galileo is a special pedal made for Pro Guitar Shop, it is currently retailing for $199.
