Fender Deluxe Lone Star Stratocaster

Fender updates the Deluxe Lone Star Stratocaster, featuring Texas special single coils and a Twin Head humbucker.

Deluxe Lone Star Strat

This Strat offers Texas blues style high-output tones with a coil-splitting bridge position humbucker for tonal versatility.

If you feel that the Standard Stratocaster is a bit tame, or if you are looking for one that has more bite, then this is for you. The Lone Star Strat sports an HSS configuration with two high output single coil pickups on the neck and middle position and a humbucker on the bridge, giving you that extra punch and bite.

The core of the guitar sticks to the traditional combination of alder body and maple neck. The body is carved into the all familiar Strat shape, only this time it makes room for a humbucker pickup in the bridge position. It comes in four finishes: Burgundy Mist Metallic, Ocean Turquoise, black and 3 color sunburst

The neck of the guitar is carved into a modern “C” shape with a scale length of 25.5″, fingerboard radius of 9.5″ and nut width of 1.65″. Depending on the type of finish used on the guitar, it comes with either rosewood or maple fretboard. It has 22 medium jumbo frets and is connected to the body via traditional 4-bolt joint.

However, what separates this guitar from the typical Strat is its pickup selection. Two Texas Special single coil pickups are put in the neck and middle position offering improved bite and power while the Twin Head Humbucker takes care of bridge pickup duties. The volume knob doubles as a coil splitter for the humbucker, thanks to the discrete S1 switch design. When engaged, you can utilize the outer coil of the humbucker, which means that you can switch between single-coil and humbucker bridge pickup sounds as you see fit.

Fender has put up a demo detailing the various sounds you can get from the Deluxe Lone Star Strat:

Other features of the guitar include a vintage style synchronized tremolo and arm, large ’70s style headstock and logo decal, sealed tuners, and aged white plastic parts.

The Fender Deluxe Lone Star Stratocaster has an MSRP of $900, however you can get it for much cheaper online at just under $600. Go to Amazon.com to buy the guitar or to check on the latest price and reviews.
