Krist Novoselic Signature RD Bass from Gibson

Gibson have released the Krist Novoselic Signature RD Bass to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Nirvana’s Nevermind album.

Krist Novoselic is easily remembered as the bass guitar player of the iconic band Nirvana. With his solid bass chops holding the bottom end and the rhythm of Nirvana, Kurt Cobain is free to rock, growl and smash his guitars. You can say that Krist was the back bone of Nirvana.

Krist Novoselic moved on to join other post Nirvana bands like Flipper, Sweet 75 and Eyes Adrift and he continued to establish himself as a bassist of unmistakable tone and style. His playing and sound became the standard that modern rock and alternative rock bass players look up to.

And so Gibson honors Krist Novoselic’s musicianship and influence with the new Krist Novoselic Signature RD Bass. Its playability and contemporary tones reflect the style of Krist. And it sports the look of Krists RD bass when the band first appeared at The Reading Festival, with Ebony black nitrocellulose lacquer and the distinctive RD body figure.

The Signature RD Bass sports a solid maple neck with obeche fingerboard that is glued into a body shaped after 1970’s era RD bass. It has a slightly angled headstock with Grover Shamrock Key tuners. It also sports a strings through body design with a solid three point bridge. The round profile neck has a depth of .850″ at the first fret and .960″ at the 12th fret.
