What kind of information did you want, Saphira? Sorry, but you’re being kind of vague.

    Silly question!

Both of course! Plus whatever other guitars take your fancy. Personally I’ve got a soft spot for Danelectros.

I quite like the green, but not with the red tortoiseshell scratchplate.

My guess is this would more likely be 80s rather than 70s, because you didn’t really get thinline electro-acoustics until after Gibson brough out the Chet Atkins model.

Hey – it’s an acoustic String Station!

Oh, and I recall that years ago Francis Dunnery of It Bites (http://www.itbites.com/) had some enormous multi-stringed thing on a stand that he used to play live on stage.

Not quite as mad as this String Station thing, though.

This is my latest baby. It’s a Sanox Sound Creator japanese-made Strat copy from the 1970s. Oh yeah, and its body is made from clear perspex, in case you hadn’t noticed. It’s a bit like the guitar that Nile Rodgers used to play in Chic (his had a clear scratchplate though). It does have a trem but I’ve opted not to use it (I don’t like them). It’s got a fair amount of battle scars, but plug it in and it sounds wicked! It’s got that certain vibe, that ‘mojo’ that’s missing from so many modern guitars.

Does anyone know anything about Sanox Sound Creator guitars? I can find very little about them other than they built a few high-quality copies of Gibsons and Fenders, and even made a copy of Fender’s short-lived “Lead” model, which wasn’t exactly a popular guitar to start with.

Seen it before. I thought it looked silly then and I haven’t modified that opinion.

I’m not really into all the obvious yawn-worthy players. Guitarists I like include:

    Bill Nelson
Adrian Belew (King Crimson, Bowie, etc)
    Captain Sensible (The Damned)
Daniel Ash (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets)
    Wayne Kramer (MC5)
    Jan Akkerman
    Mick Ronson
    Poison Ivy (The Cramps)
    Doggen (Julian Cope, Brain Donor)
    Marc Bolan
    Link Wray
    Dick Dale

and probably quite a few others who I’ll think of later and say “Oh yeah…”

Not really guitar-related, but you’ve gotta have Kraftwerk!

(There’s a really lovely guitar solo on the 1974 version of Autobahn – the last time they used a guitar).

Sparkykink, I love these guitars and was looking for one myself. A year or so ago I was watching a 1979 hardtail Antigua Strat on eBay, which eventually went for just over £500. I wish I’d bought it now, but at the time I didn’t have the money.

I later bought one of the 2004 japanese re-issues (with a trem – unfortunately). It’s not actually quite the same colour as the original Antiguas, but it’s a great guitar all the same

What is that guitar? It looks kinda familiar. I fancy perhaps I knew someone who had one when I was a kid. The ol’ brain is going these days, though…

Another one from the same seller:

    GIBSON RIPPER BASS — 1976 , slightly modified…..

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4713&item=7311206698

    http://i6.ebayimg.com/02/i/03/a8/a2/8f_1_b.JPG

    Slightly?

The listing says: maple body transformed by Jack the Tripper into some kind of tomahawk sculpture……… – as if that’s a good thing! This poor bass has been butchered and they still want best part of 400 notes for it!
