I think I have the same guitar. I’ve had it for at least 20 years (bought by my parents after I sold my Gibson because of a girl). Anyway, it too has Norlin from Lincolnwood, IL on the label. I haven’t been able to find any further info about this guitar. I play Guild guitars now, but have kept this old one around for sentimental reasons and for my kids to play. If anyone has any leads on the history of this guitar please let me know.

: I’m a beginner as you would guess. I bought a nice looking Ephiphone at an auction with decals on the neck and inside the body with Gibson on it. Buying only from pictures I did not know that the decals were only "stuck" on. If anyone can help me to find out what I have I would be grateful. I can email pictures and more info if needed. It is blond finish with I beleive high gloss rosewood or mahogny sides and back. It also has Norlin on the inside and made in Lincolnwood, Illinois. Thanks! Luella

      1. information about your Epiphone/Gibson instrument!
Still Crazy Jimmy - Still Crazy Brotherhood - Nv.

: : epiphone was a independant company in kalamazoo, mich.
that was purchased by gibson. Both gibson and epiphone{U.S. models} use "GUILD" inc. hardware. You may have an imported Epiphone so you’d need to know the approx. year and what color options or hardware options to know if you have a "real" Epiphone/Gibson or "jap crap"!!!!

  1. Godin Multiac Jazz
    Andrew

Has anyone tried this new line of Godin guitars? I just heard that they’re out there now, but I can’t find any local stores that carry that item. I’d like to hear any experiences that one might have had with this guitar and also the price of this guitar. Thanks in advance.

      Hi there,

I have become something of a complete "freak" for the multiac and I have been waiting for the Jazz model. I am fairly certain that none have shipped ANYWHERE yet. Or at least not in the United States. Rudy’s on 48th street here in Manhattan carries Godin but don’t have the new "Jazz" model yet. And they have assured me that no one will get one before they do.

I received both of my guitars and they play and sound great. With the Roland GI-20 I am able to play and record through my lap top on virtual synths and sequencers. I can also trigger sounds on this cheap $200.00 Yamaha keyboard (that I bought for my kids at Costco) using the midi ports. I’m still looking for external synths like the Roland GR-20 and GR-33. But just and a "straight" guitar playing through my Mesa-Boogie Mark III and the Roland GT-6 signal processer I’m ready for anything.(Is anyone actually reading this?)

      ken

Hi Andrew. I am also interested in this guitar, I currently have a Multiac Nylon Duet, a Multiac Steel String with SA and a 24 fret LG with twin Seymour Duncan Humbuckers. I gig with the multiac steel string and find it to be a very versatal guitar but often wish I had a magnetic pick up for electric tones. Have you tried the Godin website? Godinguitars.com. Click on Dealers to find the one near you. Just started looking so I don’t have a price yet. Judging by the materials used I bet it’s gonna be pricey. My Multiacs ran about $1,575 new. I got the nylon string in trade for a Taylor 314 and paid $800 for the multiac steel, used. Good Luck!

Ordered a Jazz from out local Godin Dealer. List price is around $2100, but he will sell it for about $1,500. There is a review of this guitar at Harmony Central under user review.

I think it’s an awesome guitar…but, mine is in brand new condition..with a Gibson case. I did have a local pro do a fret job for it though…so I could put the 9s on it. I would’nt sell it unless I was starving.

      Brian

Hey! 🙂 I also have a Westone guitar, a Monark to be exact… Unfortunately there is very little info available on Westone guitars. They were produced by a company in Japan for the St. Louis Music Company, who is currently the distributor for Crate amplifiers, Series 10 guitars, Bently guitars, as well as a whole slew of other music related products. I contacted St. Louis Music Co. myself a few months ago pertaining to my particular guitar, and they had virtually no info on it, since it’s kind of a rare bird… However they may be able to help you with your quandry, as your guitar was a more popular model. They are based in St. Louis, Mo. (of course!) 😉 Good luck and let us know what you find out! 🙂

: I bought a left handed Westone Thunder 1A in yeovil, Somerset. I know its not much use but i thought you could try in that area! Good Luck

: I have played Westone guitars as my main instruments for twenty years now. My first one was a Thunder IIa which was awesome.

Then I picked up a Westone Prestige (with Gold Plated Trimmings), in Sunburst and deep lacquered, at auction from a Music Shop going out of business in Birmingham, England for exactly 110 Pounds. I only bid for a joke as well…had to run out to the bank next door to get some savings out as soon as I won the bid.

Considering the tag price at the time was 450 Pounds it was a great deal and so good that it has been my main instrument ever since.

Reason why I found this message link is that the Gold Plating is now looking a bit worse for wear and I would like to know if anyone knows of any merchants who can renovate or supply replacement parts (particularly bridge, tailpiece and pickup covers) for Westone guitars.

So, I never did get around to buying that Gibson Les Paul Black Beauty, simply no need, the Westone Prestige has given me all the equivalent sounds I ever needed at a fraction of the price and with a cooler body design.

        Cheers….Kev S.

I have a Martin D-18 made between 1965-1970. I am looking for a value on the guitar and have not been successful in finding one so far. I have the serial number and would appreciate any help anyone could lend in setting me in the right direction. I want to sell it, but need to know an approximate value.
    Thanks,
    Sherry

Mine is from 1969 and we know how good it sounds! Don’t sell it for less than $10K… if you don’t play!

Sherry, there was a Martin book around about 18 yrs. ago and it listed Martin guitars by ID number and gave an approximate value for poor, fair, good and excellent conditions. another way is to call/write the Martin factory
which used to be in Pennsylvania and probably still is.
        good luck.
